Hey, Betheseda...stop fussing about every day words and focus on Skyrim so it won't be broken like Oblivion was. |

It'll still be broken. :P And I'm not angry at the developers (at least, not for that reason), I just think the whole situation is dumb and rather ridiculous. |

People who don't play many video games? It's pretty clear to us but it's not that unlikely considering some people can't tell games with completely different names apart. |

I kind of thought it sounded ridiculous at first, but I can't really blame them for wanting to follow copyright law and protect their assets. *shrug* /late Edited by Eternally Fallen, Aug 10 2011, 02:28 AM.

Except with the advent of the internet over the past two decades, videogames have become a more easily recognised medium. Back in the day, aside from word of mouth or gaming mags, there was no real way to get information about videogames if you were a non-gamer. Today, there are hundreds of review sites up all over the internet to help people out with these things. Anyone who had second thoughts about buying something could always consult the internet for advice. If clueless people are gyped because they didn't exercise that privelage, well, then that's kinda their fault, isn't it? It's kinda like how hackjob movie studios put out stuff like "Transmorphers", "Alien Vs. Hunters" and "Snakes on a Train" and gullible people buy them. They're designed to be misleading, yet it's not very hard to tell the difference, despite epic box art. |

Some stuff about the media blaming GTA for the London riots, we already know about this. Australia's R18+ rating for games has been solidified. Companies are commending each other for forcing people to stay online (in this case, Diablo 3's DRM) even with single player. Rage's online pass blocks out single player content and id Software says they're not revealing anything about Doom 4 until Rage ships. Batman will also, reportedly have this as well so, yeah, fuck that. Here's an interesting bit of news; Capcom is thinking about making a DC Vs. Marvel game. Don't know how I personally feel about this considering how terrible MvC3 is and hey, I think a lot of people have plugged in plenty of effort over the past few years to have already made that a reality thanks to MUGEN. I'm sure it's probably a lot better than what Capcom could come up with anyway. Capcom says they think Megaman is important to the company *snorts*. UMvC3 was supposed to initially have 58 characters to rival the last game's. They ended up cutting characters out because they're releasing the game earlier. Also, shop specific preorder DLC blahblahblah, the usual. Ninja Theory is apparently ripping off Devil May Cry 2, so much for being original. Game is far from finished and won't be playable at Gamescon. Some awesome guy just revamped the shit out of Castlevania 2: http://castlevaniadungeon.net/forums/index.php?topic=3513.0 Report on the whole Bethesda Vs. Notch business. The collector's edition of Skyrim will cost $150. Bethesday also says that games shouldn't cost $60, they should cost $20...except for theirs...LOLOLOLOL. Star Wars: The Old Republic says MMOs won't go multiplatform because of technical issues. Apparently, MMO players love to pay to play because of "quality". DCUO closes down 26 servers for 4 "mega" servers. Jim Lee also admits the game was aimed towards casuals. XD On that note, Age of Conan went free to play and server activity has quadrupled and revenue has doubled. End of Nations goes free to play and Warhammer Dark Millenium might do so as well. Original Suikoden team has been disbanded and the project is left in the hands of Tri-Ace (those awesome bastards). Nintendo admits it needs better first party games. On that note, they're watching Xenoblade and Last Story's performance in EU, so if it does well, we might get it. In all honesty, I think this is a terrible idea considering JRPGs sell worse in Europe and the fact that gauging a different region with completely different market trends and tastes to sell one in your region is retarded. Shareholders are pressuring Nintendo to release their games on smartphones. Mass Effect 3 players who kept their save files will obviously get more perks and story missions that will not be available to new players. We're left with a trailer of the new Ace Combat, which basically just looks like Call of Duty in On that note, there's a really (surprisingly) intelligent discussion going on at Gamefaqs about how used game sales may or may not be hurting the industry. Check it out: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/927750-playstation-3/60003881?page=1 |

Namco, you've ruined the Soul series, you've ruined the Tekken series, you've ruined the Tales series.....and the one thing left untouched was the awesomness that is the Ace Combat series (especially the fifth installment). But what you did with this new one......piloting bombers and AC-130s? Are you adding killstreaks to the game? Do I get Attack Dogs when I get a 11 eleven killstreak? Thankfully, the "Dogfight Mode" (which is basically "Casual/N00b Mode") is optional; I'm gonna use the "Expert Mode" (which is the original style of gameplay) thank you very much. |

I found a couple of articles that were very interesting and shed quite a lot of light on how the industry functions: Journalists that aren't part of a developer's marketing program are, apparently, shoddy journalists. How to ruin your PC port in five ways. |

G4 bashes MML3 fans and mocks them for rallying for the cause. These people are supposed to be representatives of gamers in the media, but it's just another fine example of non-gamer journalists flinging off uninformed comments regarding the industry and community, most likely because they're either on the take, or because they don't have a clue. TOPIC OF THE DAY, DEVIL MAY CRY. Dante is apparently half demon and half angel (LOLOL LITTLE NICKY!). Tamim comes out and says they're going to change up the character, going back on his word about not giving a shit again. There is still a lack of information on other characters as well as no designs. There's also now concept art of Dante surrounded by angels. Tamim says the game will be locked at 30fps, but will FEEL like 60fps...wow, that's actually a downgrade from older games. He then goes on to say, in an interview, that the new Dante is like today's young people, with no prospects and very angry. He's also indirectly telling older fans of the series they're obviously obsolete and unwanted. It's also funny how they keep bringing out gameplay trailers when the game is unfinished. Hitman developers say that the new game coming out will not be dictated by the fans. Ubisoft changes Driver's DRM because the fans stepped up and spoke out; you now no longer have to be online at all times to play the game's single player. This should be happening for everything, if people would just take the time and stand up for their rights. The PC version of Deus Ex was supposed to be region locked because of disc capacity or something; fans changed that because they spoke out, so the game will no longer be region locked. If you preorder Battlefield 3 on Origin, you get a game for free, yet if you buy the game retail, it still requires an Origin account. This is obviously a subliminal way of telling gamers to go digital, since there's more incentive. You have to use Origin for both versions of the game, yet only one nets you a free product. The game will obviously be bogged down by DRM and all that, it's freakin' EA afterall. The Chinatown Fare, the last arcade in New York closed down, after 50 years of operation. A documentary shows the last night at the fare, with interviews with people and the community and how the place had affected them over the years. Yet at the same time, gamers are getting together and building their own arcade, with a video shown of Next Level Arcade, a new place being built in New York. It's people getting together and making a difference. More on Notch challenging Bethesda to a game of Quake 3. Metal Gear HD Collection will also contain the original Metal Gears. Capcom is still pressing Godhand (fukyer). Kinect is getting Steel Battallion (we'll see how that works). The PSP Vita's games will ALL be downloadable, with some being retail on a memory stick. I'm sorry but, wasn't people's biggest complaint about the Go that they wanted physical copies of games and that downloadable titles weren't working out? Rumor has it that games will cost $80! FOR DIGITAL TITLES? THAT'S ABSURD! Planetside 2 will not come out for the PS3. New Counterstrike coming to the PS360. Kingdom Hearts 3D will be playable at the TGS and there will be an HD test for the anniversary edition. Kojima teases fans with a picture, hinting at Zone of the Enders 3DS. New Splinter Cell revealed. Dark Souls classes have been revealed. Infamous 2 has new single player DLC called Festival of Blood, starring vampires. The latest version of Melty Blood will be bundled with Carnival Phantasm (in Japan). Dragon's Dogma will not have co-op or multiplayer, yet it will have a pawn system. The pawn system entails you lending out your character to other players where said character will become an NPC character in their games, yet still gets EXP. Interesting concept, but I'm not really sure how that's better than actually letting people play together (then again, we have Monster Hunter, so I don't really care about this game). Blizzard is still serious about a console version of Diablo 3. Southern Aussies, you're getting a gaming bar: http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6328622.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6328622 |

This shit is really going to the dogs. DRM. DRM EVERYWHERE *insert Woody & Buzz base image here* But, seriously, as interested as I am in the Vita, I knew it was going to be a digital only thing; and I swear I mentioned it at least twice here on NB somewhere. There just isn't enough free space on the bitch for a decent media reading compartment. That alone will be pushing me off from it. Sorry Sony, but I already pay upwards of $100 dollars for a retail game. I'm not paying the same fucking amount for a digital title. Not happening. Fuck the developers and publishers. What happened to making pleasing the consumers the top priority? Take a page out of Notch's book, ffs. I really hope SEGA don't fall into the same rut. |
