I'm sure we all know of Sony's 'PlayStation Plus' service, which offers bonus content for subscribers, like discounted prices on DLC, possibly as low as free. A new feature has been slightly revealed, as Kotaku doesn't make it very clear on their article by tagging it as a rumour. Anyway, Cloud-storage for PS3 game saves is the newest feature, which will apparently be implemented in the 3.60 firmware update. Basically, PS+ users will have the option of uploading their save data to an external Sony server, so they can access it on just about any PS3 console, so long as it has an internet connection, of course. Opinions? |

That's actually a nifty idea for those unable to keep backups on an external source...although that seems a tad bizarre considering you just need to stick it on any flash memory. Regardless, it's a good backup feature. Now I don't know much about the whole plus thing, I've only noticed that you get access to free/cheaper content at the PSN store as well as like, early access to stuff in general. I don't really know if it's worth the extra money because I haven't really seen any significantly HUGE features that warrant it. |

PlayStation Plus getting a minor change. Basically, starting from July, on the first Tuesday of every month, every free game in the Instant Game Collection will be shifted with new titles and will be available for a whole month, before shifting out for new titles again on the first Tuesday of the next month. On top of that, with this month's update, all three current platforms will get two free games a month, whereas in the past, it was a bit more random. Here are June's free games: PlayStation Vita -Terraria -Mutant Mudds Deluxe PlayStation 3 -NBA 2K14 -Sly Cooper: Theives in Time (includes Vita version via Cross-Buy) PlayStation 4 -Trine 2: Complete Story -Pixeljunk Shooters Ultimate These will be available from roughly about now, until the first Tuesday in July. |

Wasn't sure where else to post this but, Sony cutting access to the PS store for PSP users in multiple regions. North America seems to be safe right now, but yeah. |

All PlayStation Plus subscriptions that are active as of January 29 will recieve a five day extension on their subscription. And a temporary discount available on the storefront's homepage for 10% off one total price. All to apologise for stability issues over the holidays. Not much, but hey, it's something. |

It's not their fault for always being a target for some reason. Not sure how great of a deal 10% will be on a full price game. so what... $5? Whatevs with that. With physical copies you can sell it to someone else for a little over half of what you paid. Always a better deal. |

Yes, it is. The people attacking them are clearly exposing their complete and utter lack of security to the general public and it's been going on for YEARS. You'd think that after the first incident, which involved stealing people's credit card and personal information of all things, they'd get their shit together. Not only did they not do that, but they didn't even bother addressing the issue to the public, flat out denying it, until it was already blown wide open. They have enough time to develop and entirely new console, but not enough to fix issues with their network security? Having loyalty to your favourite company is one thing, but blindly denying they have a problem and that they're not responsible for taking care of it? Come on, man. |

...Lack of security? That's not a reason when it comes to hackers. They also did it to Microsoft too over the holidays, and what was that for? From what I remember they first attacked Sony because of their abuse of the legal system in targeting reverse-engineer George Hotz, and the supposed North Korean thing. So, I kind of take back not having a reason, but it's not because their security sucks. Hackers can get through anything, and because of that fact, I don't think you can blame the company itself for the security system. I mean come on, Nasa's been hacked, the Pentagon's been hacked... http://www.informationisbeautiful.net/visualizations/worlds-biggest-data-breaches-hacks/ Edited by Havoc the Tenrec, Jan 24 2015, 10:10 AM.

I didn't know how to explain it better while on my phone, but now that I have a keyboard let's crack this shit down. The 10% discount isn't limited to a single game or product. It's limited to a single purchase. The e-mail I recieved worded it as the following: So you get three days to use it, but it applies to everything added to a single purchase. Make a habit of buying 5+ games off PSN each time you make a purchase? The discount applies to the final price. So 5 full price triple A titles at $60 USD each. A total of $300. 10% off of that final $300 price. The difference is that Microsoft's services were fully operational again before the day was even over. Sony's services? Took at least half a week to get back to full operational status. Edited by Luffy Foxtrot, Jan 24 2015, 10:30 AM.

Lizard Squad stopped their attacks much earlier on XBL. They continued DDOS'ing PSN which is why it took longer for Sony to recuperate.

And then they went back down again, and continued fluctuating for the better part of maybe two weeks? Three? No backup, no contingency, no support and this dinky ass apology? A five day extension and 10% off on purchases? How about an extra year off and 20% off on purchases for that year? How about promise that their infrastructure will improve in the future and, at the very least, it won't be as bad next time? No one is blaming a target for being hacked, it's how these things are handled and how bad the result of said hack is what makes Sony a joke. #TeamArem |

An extra year just for 2 extra weeks? Maybe a few months off would seem more realistic. Sony significantly improved the security of the PlayStation Network after the breach but didn’t sufficiently address security issues elsewhere at the company. At this point, they just need to centralize their security. People should put that hate and anger towards the source that caused all this instead. Recently, hackers have become a huge nuisance that no one can truly prepare for. Edited by Havoc the Tenrec, Jan 24 2015, 07:46 PM.
