Siren poked at the transmit button on her headset to convey the last message before they went to investigate. "Copy that, we're en route. Over and out." She turned to Viper, nodding at him. "Looks like we'll get to see what all of this means sooner than we thought. Come on" She turned towards the nearby escalator and made her way down, expecting the other two to be in hot pursuit. After meandering through the mall and finding the entrance where they came from, she walked through the doorway, pushing past the police tape and heading over to the nearby captain. "It's all clear, perp's nowhere in sight, but we just got a call that she might be close by. What's the situation here?" "Everything's under control, the wounded have been evaced. We'll send a CSI team in to comb through the mess." It was at that moment that their radios beeped again, the dispatcher reporting a bank robbery further downtown. Siren smiled, rolling her eyes as she did. "This city just never lets up, does it? Sorry cap, bank robbery's your schtick, though call us in if it gets too hairy, eh?" The older man smiled back, nodding as he returned his attention to his men in a bid to divide their forces up and perhaps call in another precinct to handle the bank robbery. Meanwhile, Siren headed for their parked vehicle, getting into the driver's seat and buckling up. She opened up the glove compartment and pulled out a deputy's badge, tossing it to Viper before starting the car. "That's if someone tries screwing with you if we end up splitting up." Releasing the handbrake, she pulled out of the area and began heading to their target destination. It was a very short drive to the West of the mall, yet it was not hard to find since a crowd had begun gathering around. Siren turned the corner and came to a halt, exiting the Humvee and yelling out to the pedestrians. "NASF, EVERYONE CLEAR THE AREA, NOW!" Most people complied, the rest lulling around aimlessly, which only prompted Siren to pull out her handgun and fire up into the air to disperse the crowd. "I SAID MOVE!" She approached the street corner, the young man sitting there looked pale as he clutched the area which was bleeding. She then turned to the girl, who fit the description from earlier; she seemed to be out of touch with reality, rocking back and forth next to the boy. She turned to her partners and nodded, motioning for either of them to call in an ambulance before she went closer, kneeling down in front of the couple. "Are you alright? Can you tell me what happened?" |

"There is no "c" in Erik, kemosabe." "Yes there is, here, check your passport." Erik's passport seemingly popped into existence and landed gracefully into Kyosuke's hand. Kyosuke flipped the booklet, looking for a certain page. "See, it has a 'c'.......try harder Kemo Cone Ice Cream. He he he he he." Kyosuke patted Erik's shoulder. The two made their way to the tent where the girl was being held hostage. "Alright, here's what we're going to do; I'm going to throw a barrier around the girl before we jump in there. I'll take tall, dark and douchey while you grab the girl and take her to safety...preferably in her mother's arms. Got it?" "I prefer cure 3 myself, but if you roll with barriers, then go ahead. But don't forget, you can now rotate the camera when look around corners, he he he he he." "Hey there asswife, how ya doin'? Didn't your mother ever tell you it's not nice to harass other people's kids?" "Ienai itami kanashimi de kizutsuita kimi yo rittre girr.......so how about we sneak through this mess via cardboard boxes?" Kyosuke grabbed the girl and the two hid inside a large cardboard box labelled 'Perpetual Awesomeness Mobile Sama'; the two sneaked out of the tent. Kyosuke looked around for the mother until he found the grieving parent. "My daughter, thank you so much sir!" "Your welcome........say, you are hot, I know this bathroom......." |

Shadow was content to pace around the tent while his "captive" sat on a nearby chair, chomping on the stick of gum he'd given her. He quietly chewed his own piece while he awaited the response he was certain was about to come. There was much commotion outside of the tent, but it was pretty clear that nobody knew what canvas-covered room housed the broadcast. It was certainly only a matter of time until someone checked, or until an employee led the police to his location. What he couldn't have expected was the young man who dove into the opening, quickly casting a barrier of energy around the child before standing to confront him, their gazes locked. He was clearly ready for a fight, regardless of any real chance he stood. The more curious sight was the young man's apparent partner, who managed to whisk away the girl and himself in a rather insane manner. So that just left him and the kid in front of him. Even if he didn't wanna hurt the boy, it wouldn't be very convincing if he didn't move to attack him. His gaze shifted around, making sure that nobody else was peeking into the tent. "So, you want a fight, do you?" He questioned Erik, his own hooded cloak melting away, leaving him standing with his normal outfit, a pair of jeans and a wife-beater. Popping his fingers in an almost mockingly aggressive fashion, he grinned. "I don't know that I'd call it smart, but you're definitely brave." The light hanging in the corner cast both of their shadows to the side, and the shaggy-haired man intended to use that to his advantage. Just as his cloak had done, he melted away into the darkness beneath him. It wouldn't even be a second before he sprang out of Erik's own shadow, aiming a right elbow at the side of his head. He wasn't sure what this kid was packing to feel up to challenge an apparent criminal, but he definitely intended to give him a run for his money for being the one to barge into his stronghold. * * * * * Esika was having trouble fighting her way through the crowd without resorting to physically injuring people. Regardless of how she pleaded with the patrons to let her through to deal with the situation, most of them hardly listened, instead spending their time gossiping with friends or looking toward the tent they were all crowding around. She spotted Micah and the girl's mother standing near the front of the communications tent, Micah still attempting to keep her calm despite the situation. From the murmurs of the bystanders she gathered that Erik and Kyosuke had already somehow managed to reach the broadcasting station and were confronting Shadow. Just before she managed to reach her employer, though, Kyosuke made his way out of the tent, girl in hand. "My daughter, thank you so much sir!" The woman was clearly extremely relieved, tears of joy rolling down her face as she walked away from the savior. Micah continued with her, nodding to the vampiress before disappearing in the crowd. The last thing she heard was the little girl trying to comfort her mother, probably unsure why she was so upset. "Don't cry mommy, I was just playing." Esika shook her head before attempting to muscle her way through the rest of the crowd. It was amazing that the girl didn't seem bothered by anything that had transpired. But that was of little concern at the moment; she had a job to do, and she'd make sure it was done. Finally breaking through the edge of the crowd with shouts that she was security, she approached Kyosuke, a troubled look on her face. "Is Erik in there?" she questioned, matter-of-fact tone permeating her voice as she spoke. She really had no idea what was going on in the tent, though she had hopes that the young man would fill her in on the situation quickly so she could take action. * * * * * The bank operation had gone so much more smoothly than the boss ever could have imagined. Despite their work to indoctrinate the hostages, they'd taken the time to empty the vaults of all the cash. The money wasn't anything they needed to keep, of course, and would be returned after the Vermilion Lord was arisen, but until that time their bank "heist" had to be convincing enough to keep the local law enforcement from questioning things, especially with surveillance cameras all over the place. Although, with the amount of time it was taking them to get at them, the city either had a very inefficient police department or they were stretched thin for some reason or another. Despite the reasons, he couldn't much complain. As it stood, they'd taken the hostages into the bank vault, continuing the process of imparting the big boss' religious crap into their heads while out of sight of anyone looking into the bank. The lower boss and his accomplice Bobby stood watch outside of the vault doors, armed with LMGs that would make even hardened police officers think twice about engaging in a firefight. A tap on his shoulder prompted him to turn around, one of the subordinate hypnotists standing before him. "The job is complete boss." "Good, good. Bobby, kindly escort our comrades out of the building." "Will do, sir." he nodded, his hand lifted. A stream of archaic language began flowing from his fingertips, swirling until it formed a tightly bound sphere. With a flash, the text vanished, leaving a crimson-lined portal in the air. The men began filing out of the bank vault, each of them taking their turn leaping through the escape route. The final man left a set of bags at the opening of the vault. "The cash." With that, the last of the crew vanished, the portal disintegrating after their exit, leaving the two men and a couple of others to actually make the escape. The boss looked into the vault, all of the hostages looking very much dazed, but that lost expression would mask the knowledge pressed into their minds, hidden commands ready to go when the time was right. With a sigh, he grabbed a pair of bags, prompting the other three men to do the same. The sounds of sirens approaching finally hit him, but they had to be brave for their brothers. The gun hanging over his shoulder, the quartet made their way toward the side exit. * * * * * "So wait, you're telling me we're going to your place for an outfit?" Emilyn questioned, an eyebrow raised before she shrugged it off. "I guess I really can't complain. As long as you're cool sharing your outfits I don't mind." At Mary's insistence, Emilyn climbed across the seat to sit against the window, fully expecting her sister to slide in beside her. Nope. Apparently Marianne thought it was a good idea to wedge herself between the twins. Well, whatever. Either way, the seat was comfy enough, and it wasn't as if any of the girls were big enough to make the seating arrangement uncomfortable. The last to climb in was Madelyn, waving goodbye the Ethaniel and Javon before the vehicle began pulling down the road. With a last lingering look, the more innocent of the twins properly seated herself, a small sigh escaping her lips as she did so. "So Mary, I'm guessing you have some kinky outfits since you're offering to lend us stuff from your own wardrobe for the performance?" Emilyn asked, genuinely curious. Though now that she thought about it, something was starting to nag at the edge of her mind, something that needed to be asked. As if she were reading her mind, Madelyn asked the very same question she intended to. "I don't get it though...you're so much taller than us. How would any of your outfits fit either of us? Not to mention we couldn't fill out your clothes nearly so well, I imagine..." Huh, that was something Emilyn hadn't considered. Good thing her sister thought to bring it up... * * * * * So someone had finally gotten police and paramedics to the scene. Mark coughed, pain surging through his side at any significant movement. The officer quickly worked to clear out the bystanders, probably the best decision given the troubled girl he was sitting next to. Seemed almost insane for her to get so close, but at least the young demoness beside him didn't seem to be paying much attention. With a bit of effort, he tried to push off the wall and stand, but he just didn't have it in him to move that much, especially with his wound practically begging that he remain still. "It's merely a misunderstanding, officer. Nothing more. She just mistook me for a bad guy." There was more to it, of course, more than he could have possibly begun to guess at, but having just run into the child himself, he was in no position to speculate on what caused her to lash out so violently. That being said, he allowed a hand to come to rest on her shoulder, prompting her to halt her feeble back and forth rocking. "I certainly don't hold it against her for acting the way she did; she must have had a good reason." A paramedic attempted to approach Mark to get him into an ambulance, but Lynness apparently had other thoughts. Though her own stores of matter had been diminished with the auto-healing in the mall, she had more than enough to form a dividing wall between the paramedic and the only decent person she'd met. A quick burst of matter sent the paramedic sprawling backward, landing on the ground hard but otherwise unharmed. Mark, being as close as he was to the wall, was slammed backward by the force, left to slide down against the concrete face as Lynness slowly got to her feet. Her eyes locked with Siren. Although she was acting aggressively toward the people trying to save Mark, her own eyes were still filled with tears. "You can't just take him from me." Lynness stated in an almost pleading tone, her dark fog settling near the ground beneath her. |

Viper caught the badge, and looked at it. He gave Siren a look as he took her sear."Seriously? Are you cops just that stupid?" Viper shook his head, but then took off for Sabretooth. Firing it up with a roar, he took off for the location he overheard on the dispatch. Two minutes later, he reached the street, flanked by bystanders on either end of the street, all being kept back by officers while paramedics were keeping their distance. Little wonder. Viper heaved himself over the crowd and into the crime scene. Cops immediately drew their weapons and demanded that he leave. Viper flashed the badge and snarled. "Take it up with my secre--" Viper's eyes caught two figures in the middle of everything: one, a boy huddling against the wall, apparently wounded, and the other... He could smell the sulfur. At once, his arm flared to life, and his eyes kindled brightly. She was here...and she wasn't getting away this time. Viper began to pant angrily, and he felt his blood boil in his head. The bastard was here! Siren and Jeff had arrived by then, and Siren had knelt in front of the girl. This enraged Viper. "Are you being intentionally dense!? She's a demon! Anything she says to you is a lie!" |

"Viper, can you please SHUT THE FUCK UP?!" Her earlier hunch had been right; the girl in front of her was not a malicious entity from another plane of existance, she looked more like a distraught and confused teenager that had just come to some kind of life altering revelation. It was a classic case of adolescents discovering new abilities, which were difficult to control and reacted to emotions and body instincts. It was then, as if on cue, that the girl erected a barrier between the paramedics and the injured boy, further injuring him in the process. Siren tried to calm the girl down as best as she could, using as much as she could of her negotiation skills. "Miss, you can't keep doing this, people are getting hurt. We need to take this young man to the hospital to treat his wounds, do you understand? If you don't let us help him now, he will bleed out to death and that will be your fault. When he's feeling up to it, you can visit him, but right now he is in a critical state and needs emergency surgery, okay?" She calmly knelt down and offered her hand out in a peace offering. "My name is Serenity, but my friends call me Siren. Will you trust me?" "Bring it on." The man disappeared in the blink of an eye and suddenly came from behind, slamming his elbow straight into Erik's face. He quickly turned to face his opponent, rubbing his TMJ; the blow was painful, but not very damaging and would heal almost instantaneously, without bruising. It seemed that this man had some kind of teleportation ability, which meant that Erik had to amp up his senses to make sure he could detect his movements as soon as they happened. He moved in quickly, throwing three quick, yet effective punches straight for the man's chest, before hopping back a step and delivering a kick straight for his face. |

Viper was incredulous. "Are you fucking kidding me? You invited this bitch to his BEDSIDE!? Why don't you just shoot the kid now and save her the trouble?" He couldn't believe how stupid Siren was acting. Being nice to a demon? That was simply asking for being cleaved in two. Even, hypothetically, if the kid was just a "troubled girl", her powers would only intensify with uncertainty and create more harm. It's just like a mad dog; the dog can't help going nuts because of the rabies, but ultimately the dog has to be put down before more get hurt. That's what this girl was: a mad dog...and she needed to be put down. Viper already had a bead on the girl's skull. One bad move and the demon bitch would be picking up her head in the next county. "Kyosuke, that was amazing. You know how to function in a bathroom!" "My 'X's and Circles and 180 Analogue Turns always make an environmental object vibrate and break for no explicable reason. That one button I missed messed up the entire minigame, but that's why we can try again. The best thing to fix this problem is to practice with sirens. They can fine tune those quick time events! He he he he he!" "Mommy! Where did you go?" "Mommy was......busy, darling." "We went to the bathroom to.......uh, play checkers! Yeah, that makes sense for a little girl. We played lots and lots of checkers! They were some tough games, that's why we took too long. We even had to do a tie breaker! He he he he he" "Oooh Kyosuke, you're so good with kids! Marry me!" "Really? I am so blessed by the gods.......a certain admin would be jealous of me right about now! He he he he! Anyways, let's see how this 'R''P' turns out. I still have to deal with Suzuki. Holla back girl!" Moments later, Esika approached Kyosuke and asked him about the whereabouts of Erik. "Don't bother me Elizabeth Báthory! I'm reading a Marvelous For Some Reason comic book. I'm still trying to figure out how Captain Giant Flag survived a shot to a neck. This reminds me of a time where a chick got shot in the head, and nothing happened to her! Anyways, Pee Hachoo is still in the Binary Domain! He he he he! However, he is not in the tent I just came out of. Ignore the conspicuous tent completely. He's by the pool playing pool and eating Grande Celestini pizza. USE YOUR HEAD AND SENSE OF SMELL BELLA SWAN!! YOU CALL YOURSELF A VAMPIRE?!" Kyosuke went to look for ramen refills. |

((LIVE GOD DAMN IT LIVE! *defibs thread*)) Jeff had hopped out of the Hummer, standing a little behind Siren, rifle ready just in case. Having seen her and heard the boy defend the girl with his words, the profile suddenly came together all at once. A dangerously unstable young girl, the first kill likely starting as an accident before escalating, with the second kill being a second spontaneous burst of power that was partially retaliatory. This made what happened at the mall more of a natural continuation. With no understanding of how things actually work, she likely felt in the right when trying to take that sundress, and stripping the bodies was likely some degree of naivete about the human body. If this girl really was a demon, she was likely a juvenile that wandered off from her mom or something like that. Of course, despite how "innocent" any number of words could make this girl, being mentally unstable, naivete and superpowers never mix well, as the sudden appearance of a wall proved. The girl didn't want the boy taken away for some reason. Likely because he was the first to try catering to her child-like nature. That was actually a good sign, as it meant that she could be reasoned with and likely talked into given a notarized confession. No need for a trial, just ship her off to the loony bin and let the state straighten her out. Which would likely still end badly. Then Viper started talking again. As much as the agent agreed with big, dumb and smelly, he needed to be set straight. Shouldering the rifle, he walked over to the felon quite the mean look on his face. Making sure his voice was low enough to keep Siren from hearing, he started handing out his professional opinion. "Alright, look you overgrown snakeskin purse, it's obvious that you don't like her, and I don't like her too much either. But, unless you want her to rip this entire crowd, us included, to shreds we need to keep our opinion about her to ourselves. I don't know if she really is a demon with how naive she's being about the point of letting paramedics take the boy away, but I know that if she wanted to kill the lad, she'd have already done it and moved on. That said, yes she is still dangerous and if you take that gun off of her I'm shooting both of you. With grenades." He looked back at the girl, hoping that things between the lasses were still going well. DANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA~ Ethaniel nodded and followed Javon to where the lobby should be, staying behind the door that lead to the little hall where they entered. Peeking through the door that was left open for some convenient reason, he watched Javon start on his spell work as four armed men...wait. He thought back to when he first peeked into the lobby. There's supposed to be more men, and the hostages are nowhere to be seen. In fact...he had a hunch about what might be going on. "Javon, whatever you're doing keep doing it. I'm locking this door up and going hunt-- ...Looking. I meant looking." With that, confident that Javon's magic would keep him from being seen and heard he leaded through the threshold, slamming the side exit shut and mashing the hinges into useless bits of metal. This would keep them locked in, and just in time too. The cops were ahead of schedule. He barreled forward, moving past the men and towards the back. His nose picked up faint scents, and assumed that he was going along the right path. He quickly found himself at the vault, finding the hostages in a daze. But it wasn't just any daze. He'd seen this kind of dumb look before, in the times where he'd dealt with mages specialized in mental interference. Running back to the lobby, he didn't know what to expect, but he skidded to a stop once he got to the lobby. "Javon! These guys might be mages or psychics or something!" For the sake of these guys, they'd better not have shot Javon while he was gone. Shit will get ugly if they did. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Marianne nodded to the two girls, regarding the issue of her most definitely giving them something to use for the show. The problem of the mage being too tall was easily remedied, but then Madelyn brought up the point of her being quite a bit, ah, bigger in the chest department. "...Oh. That's right. Hmmm." Well, even with her rudimentary skills in sewing she might be able to refit whatever they liked. ...On second thought it might be a better idea to get a plan B. They only had a few hours, so it might be a long shot to ask any of her contacts for help. Well, it was worth a shot in any case. "I have a couple of people on speed dial that might be able to help with that. The fastest way would be to take your measurements and see if any stores have anything similar to my clothes in your sizes. If not, then we'll need to get someone to refit my stuff for you two. That might take a little while, depending on how much work needs to be done." This was already turning out to be a bust, but she'd make it work. The cab drove through some backstreets and alleyways, coming up to a Y shaped intersection. They had arrived in an older part of the town's housing district, with the taxi's stop being the four story building situated between the two "branches" of the intersection. It was made from a bright red brick, and situated with only a few windows. Curiously, all the windows for the third and fourth floors were boarded up. After shelling out the money for the ride, Marianne urged the twins to open the door and step out. Once that was done, the mage led them to the front door and procured a key. Upon opening the door, she ushered them into what looked like a room from a mystic's home. The floor was covered in red carpeting, the walls were painted a lighter shade of red and, in the middle of the large foyer was a round wooden table. The only thing missing was a purple table cloth and a crystal ball. "This building was a decrepit piece of shit until I bought it up. I don't really have a need for the third and fourth floors, so I left those alone. The second floor is where I live." After shutting the door behind them, a little smile tugged at the edges of her lips. "I use the first floor for business." Neither of them needed to know about the basement or it's use as a makeshift lab for robotics and golem building. She walked to the back of the foyer with long strides, arriving at the door set into the back wall. With a second key she opened it, and lead the twins up the stairs, making sure that they didn't notice the hidden second set of stairs that led down. Once the two flights were cleared, a third key was pulled out and the door before them opened. The space was modern in design, using excessive amounts of white for the walls and furniture. The floor was hardwood, and had a very polished sheen to it. Judging by the sofa, love seat and chairs situated around the television, they were in the living room. The window encompassed the whole of the wall, with some of the panes tinted. Obviously some form of one way glass was being utilized to make it difficult to see into the space from the outside. With hardly another word, the twins were lead through the open space, around a corner and into a hallway. They were escorted through an open door and into the master bedroom. The walls were a fainter shade of red, one meant to simulate a shy blush...or the color of arousal. The bed was king sized, with blue sheets and the headboard carved to look like a pair of dragons with their tails entwined. And standing in front of the open closet sifting through lingerie...was a second Marianne wearing a bathrobe. She turned to look at them with a smile on her face. "Sorry about not being properly dressed. I enjoy being comfortable a little too much." With barely a thought the "Marianne" that had escorted them up left, going down the hall and going through another door into a pitch black room. "I hope you aren't too put off by the deception. It'd be horrible if the occasional white lie ruined the good thing we're trying to put together here." |

"Alright then." Javon had finished his part of the 'plan' by the time the robbers had opened their portal, but didn't have time to use his mana draining techniques to shut it down. He genuinely had not considered the possibility of there being mages in the group and mentally kicked himself for not thinking of it sooner. This did make things a tad easier since that only left three people to deal with, and all three were passing through his Reverse Heal field that he had set up. It wasn't active when they first walked into it, and in turn none of the runic was even visible to them, but that changed about a third of the way in. The runic boundary lit up in brilliant black light bordered with green, which immediately started to drain the life energy out of the so-called 'robbers' passing through it. It would drain at a faster rate than he had intended since it was meant to subdue the entire group of robbers rather than the three who remained, but the limits were very strict none the less. The dictations of the field were this: Do not siphon from the hostages, do not siphon from Ethaniel, and leave the robbers with enough to remain alive but not enough for them to fight back. The other condition was that said energy went to the illusionist himself, but at this point that was more or less an obvious thing. "Most likely. Thankfully this won't kill them. Perhaps we ought to take one of them with us when we leave? I doubt the police would co-operate with us on this one." He was clearly irritated with the fact that this didn't appear to be a simple heist, especially not when his partner had suggested that the hostages might have been tampered with somehow. "As for the hostages, if we have the time I'll want to take a look at them. If we're going to hunt these people down, I want to know precisely what kind of magic they're using, and learn to take it apart at a moment's notice." He kept the cloaking field up throughout all this, confident that every little sound or motion would go completely unnoticed until they were ready to drop the charade. Even if they did spot him and were able to fight back... Well, he picked up some nasty tricks of his own. Bone might stop an ice shard, but arterial veins stopped them about as well as they do bullets, and his aim was impeccable. |

Viper's eyes didn't leave the demoness, but he heard every word the dwarf said. "You say that like demons act like human beings. Demons are artists of deception and destruction. For all you know, the child was bait...for a larger target. Now we are here, and a goddamn lot of targets. A prime opportunity for a demon to go feral and slaughter dozens. Don't think I haven't seen that, little man. "And I suggest you watch your little mouth; as soon as a demon hears you don't believe it is one, that's when it eats your head, and that wouldn't be hard for it." Viper's arm constantly burned with the presence of a powerful life force, and this fed his upcoming battlerage. Once the bitch cuts loose, so will he. Siren and the dwarf better stay out of the way. There was no innocent party in this ring. |

Just what was she suppose to do? Lynness' gaze shifted back and forth between the strange-looking officer and Mark, leaving Jeff largely unacknowledged in the background. On the one hand, she could plainly see that the wound she'd mistakenly afflicted was a severe one, and Mark was losing alot of blood. But how could she just trust these strangers with the life of the first trustworthy person she'd met. Was it worth risking betrayal for a chance to save his life? It was then that she saw Viper's approach, moving near to their location before stopping clearly angered. He went on to shout insults, accusing her of being a liar. Just why would she need to lie in the first place? Lynness drew her fingers in, clenching them in fists tightly enough to draw blood from the palms of her hands. It was a relief when Siren told Viper to back off, and the girl allowed her grip to relax. The officer then turned her attention back to the demoness, telling her the consequences of her ill-planned attack on Mark, who meant her no harm despite her misgivings. She noted Siren's appearance, markedly different from anyone she'd seen so far, even herself. Was this cop of a different species, just like she was? "You're not like the rest of them, are you? You certainly look different, but...you just seem better than most of the people around here." Her own glare softening up a bit. The humanoid woman before her didn't seem like she meant her harm. She'd already been wrong about one person's intent, what was to say she hadn't made other mistakes before? Finally she nodded, stepping toward Siren. "I'll trust you, if you can promise me he'll be fine." She glanced back toward Viper again before looking back up at Serenity. Every time she opened his mouth, her own fingers dug deeper into the flesh of her hands. The dark mass around her was roiling like a violent storm, though it didn't move in any particular direction. Finally, she sighed, her fists uncurling. "And keep that man away from me. Something about him feels wrong, and I don't want to be near him if I have a choice in the matter. Just keep him away and I'll do whatever you say." Her speech was hushed, but as the last of her words left her lips, the black fog vanished. "Just promise." * * * * * "You must be joking." Shadow remarked, pretty pleased with how well his opening attack had gone. Regardless, he didn't have much of a chance to relax; Erik was quickly back in action, coming at him with a volley of quick punches. He was able to step backward to avoid the first two before deflecting the third to the side, but before he had a chance to take a swing himself, the young man's kick came flying at him out of nowhere, connecting with his jaw and sending him sprawling back to the ground. He was slightly disoriented, but he did his best to shake the sensation off. "What the...?" He heard Esika question as she entered the tent. Before she could do anything to affect in the situation, Shadow reached out toward her leg, gripping her by the ankle and pulling downward. From his own experience, he knew that the trip would be unpleasant to someone like her, who had never gone through his method of teleportation before. It was only a second later that she erupted from Erik's shadow, thrown toward the young man with surprising force. Shadow hadn't moved from his position on the ground, but as Esika burst forth from the ground, he rolled back, sealing the entrance of the tent with what appeared to be a purple energy, though it quickly faded, leaving the canvas locked together. Not waiting any longer, he fell into his own shadow, emerging next to the sole source of light in the tent "Hope you kids aren't afraid of the dark." He remarked, a playful smile decorating his features as he snuffed out the light in the comm center, plunging the trio into an unnatural darkness. The space within the tent seemed to expand endlessly, growing until the walls and ceiling were removed from view entirely. The kidnapper chuckled, his eyesight unaffected by the unending blackness around them. "Because I find it's more fun to play this way." Now entirely in his element, the young man flashed forward, halting just before the single chair of the tent and kicking it in Erik's direction with significant force before running to his left, moving to circle around the young man and woman that decided to crash his little party. * * * * * "Well, if you're sure..." Madelyn remarked as the taxi carried them to their destination. She wasn't sure how easy it would be to modify outfits that were too big, though it would undoubtedly be easier than making an outfit larger. Either way, it sounded like it would be much better if they could just find the things Marianne already had in a size that would fit the twins. It didn't take long for the trio to reach their destination; an older-looking building jutting out into a Y-shaped intersection. The boarded up windows on the top floor gave off a creepy vibe to the younger of the twins, her turned her attention toward Emilyn. The elder sister merely shrugged as Marianne paid the driver for the trip. Emilyn and Madelyn followed her as she led them into the building. Well, the first room was certainly not helping with the feeling the building gave off from the outside, but as looks could be deceiving she kept her mouth shut, nodding as she explained that she'd really done alot to fix the house up. "So you basically turned the bottom half of the building into a livable space and left the upper floors alone? I suppose that would save alot of time fixing things up...but aren't you worried about things like bug or rat infestations above you? Seems like something that could easily be a problem." "Shut up, Emilyn!" Madelyn half-shouted with a shudder, glaring at her sister. "I'm sure that Mary thought far enough ahead to get rid of anything disgusting like that!" Emilyn chuckled at her sister's response before they were led through the living room, the various whites creating a bright but inviting living space. It was pretty surprising how much the woman had done to fix the place up. Especially with the very first room having the odd look, how could the second floor rooms be so much nicer? The girls followed Marianne into the bedroom, only to be greeted by a stunning sight; another Marianne, clothed in nothing but a bath robe and looking through her clothing. They could only watch with surprise as the one they'd been with all this time retreated down the hallway, disappearing from the view and leaving them with the real Mary. "So...you weren't really you this whole time...? Fascinating." Emilyn said in a low tone before the pair of them stepped further into the room. "But what I don't understand is why you wouldn't just go out in person anyways. I mean...wouldn't it have made more sense for you to just go out in person to begin with? I mean, I suppose it isn't a big deal either way, I'm just kind of curious." * * * * * Well, this was certainly unexpected. While the rest of their comrades had made their escape, the core group found themselves under assault from some invisible force. The men didn't take it very well, all of them clamoring about, searching for the cause of the attack, but nothing was readily obvious. The energy was draining out of them fast, and it didn't even feel like they'd reach the door at this rate. None of the hostages had given any indication that they were gifted in any way, and the room was devoid of anyone but them. The second in command lifted his own hand, attempting to create a new exit for the quartet, but the vortex barely flickered to life before vanishing again, the magician without the energy to complete his magic. "I don't have the strength to get us out of here, boss." He remarked, dragging himself toward the exit along with the other two. The boss, however, chose to drop to his knees, remaining motionless. The trio were confused, halting to find out what was wrong. "You aren't going to come with us, boss? I'm sure we can still get out." "There isn't any point. Someone either set a trap or is attacking us right now. Either way I don't think we'll be escaping. No camera and audio recordings could be kept anyways, not before our brothers got away. We need to keep a brave face for them." "But how can we just bow down now, when we were so close to accomplishing our goals. All of us were in this with the hopes of fulfilling the contract, and it would be pointless to let ourselves fall when we were all about to be free! Surely you must know this." The leader merely bowed his head, letting loose a sigh before pulling his rifle free of his shoulder, setting it on the floor before backing away from it and lifting his hands. "We would dishonor them if we couldn't face the truth, and the truth is we aren't getting away right now. Now, I don't know if anyone is in here, but if you are, reveal yourselves. You won't get any resistance from us." The men looked on in disbelief, but the other three finally did as their leader did, lowering their weapons and surrendering themselves. Even if this was the end of the road for them, as long as their plans went unhindered they would still be free of Micah's control. ((So Psycho can decide whether Esika collided with him or not. I didn't wanna say anything else as her because I didn't know what would be happening.)) |

Marianne gave a small chuckle and a rather suspicious looking smirk at the twin's reaction to the little revelation. "The reactions of shock and surprise that you've given me IS the reason darlings." She skipped over to the two young women and placed a hand on each one. "You see, I'm good at making golems. Really good. HOWEVER! Making a golem that looks perfectly like another person is a completely different level. Hell it isn't even the same game! ESPECIALLY when you have extra features hidden in one~" Lifting her hands from the twins she moved away from them via pirouette. She wanted this played out somewhat dramatically. That and the first semi successful test run got her giddy. That said, the robe did seem a tad short, and it was doubtful that the twins needed the free show. Not that she seemed to consider that. "The fact that only Ethaniel could tell that the golem wasn't me proves that I succeeded!" The giddy look on her face dropped then as she thought about what happened at the restaurant. "...I still owe that bastard a hell of a lot more than a slap for insinuating that I'm some kind of a pig. I mean really! A girl decides to eat one or two generous portions one day and suddenly she's some kind of fatty mcpot belly?!" She crossed her arms and gave a loud "hmph," emphasized with a stomp. This was obviously disregarding the fact that her definition of "one or two generous helpings one day" is everyone else's definition of "eat seven plates of food at the all you can eat buffet every day and still say you're hungry afterwards." Admittedly, she had a good reason for that. Altering one's own body via magic required that there be enough material to work with, as with Nature Alteration. The fact remained, however, that she couldn't see that she was over reacting over what wasn't even an attempt to insult her. Once she had taken a deep breath she looked at the twins with a smile. "So, let's have a look at the wardrobe shall we?" She ushered the twins to the closet. The shirts and pants were all moved to the side already, with a selection of outfits made available. "The ones that are hanging here are my favs. The really kinky stuff," she gestured to one of the three boxes on the floor. "Are in that middle box. The one to the left has a random collection of lingerie that I've gotten from online pen pals. Some of those pen pals should be about your size. Don't touch the one on the right. That's where I keep my sex toys, fuzzy handcuffs and gags." She stooped down and pulled up the middle box, bringing it over to the bed. "I'd love to keep my more hardcore bondage equipment in the master bedroom, if only for the word play, but there isn't enough room. But if you wanna take a look at my dungeon I could...give you two a very personal show~" To say that this was going to be an interesting friendship would be not counting on the power of awkward conversations about sex. ============================================================================================== He nodded towards Javon, and was rewarded for working with the illusionist by way of a very interesting exchange between the robbers. He still had no idea what was going on, but he now doubted that this was JUST a robbery/hostage situation. Ethaniel looked around and didn't notice those little pole things that you'd normally find in other businesses like this, so he decided to improvise. He walked over towards the robbers and promptly held them all in a vice like head lock. Yes, all three or four of them. He nodded towards Javon, indicating that he would like the cloak lowered before motioning towards the back with his tail. "The hostages are in the vault. Shouldn't be too hard to find." While it'd be nice if the weird life force stealing field was also lowered, that had a slightly lower priority. Ethaniel looked out the front as the wail of police sirens drew closer. The sharkman could only give a shrug at this development, as he had done what he said he'd do. ...No wait he said that he'd punch the robbers. Oh well. All that was left was holding these guys in place until the police showed up. Hopefully he'd be able to keep the police distracted long enough for Javon to look over the hostages. That's when he noticed that his ears felt warm. Was someone talking about him somewhere? If that was the case, it'd have to be Marianne. Or someone else. Assuming that the old wive's tale was true of course. Once Ethaniel was removed from the cloak however he got right to business. "I don't know you guys and you don't know me. Let's start by telling me about this fascinating contract you've established." Struggling in Ethaniel's grip would be futile, and it would be easier in the long run if they just told him what he wanted to know. Especially if they didn't want to get punched in the face. =============================================================================================== Jeff had to agree and disagree with Viper. While yes a demon would probably set this all up... "Then care to explain why she's taking her time? You saw the inside of that store. You saw that alleyway. If she wanted everyone dead, we'd be dead right now. I have faith in the profile of this girl and that Siren can talk her down." Then, faster than you could have said "guide me oh shepard," the dark fog was gone and paramedics were able to get to the young man. And judging by what he could hear from her, she was genuinely worried about the boy. While he'd like to believe that she was one of those people that simply isn't very good at lying, given the extensive literature on how demons (IF this girl is one...) lead the faithful astray, he wasn't going to take chances. He adjusted his rifle and assumed what looked like a very relaxed stance. "Now comes the part where she'll probably eat my head. The part where we arrest and interrogate her at the precinct." He turned to Viper, a completely serious look in his eyes. "For the love of the almighty, don't get too close to her and keep aiming at her. If she does flip out and start killing people, we need someone to stay in one piece long enough to shoot her dead if it comes to that." With that he walked towards Siren and the girl, making sure to keep himself from interfering with Viper's line of sight. He had a feeling that the big lug could make another short joke about it, but whatever. In a short span of time, he was next to Siren and kneeling down. At first he wasn't sure how to start, but then the words tumbled like water over a cliff face. "Hey there. I'm Jeff. I work with Siren. Now that your friend is safe, we have something that needs to be discussed. To my understanding, your friend isn't the first person you've hurt today. Because of that, we need to tell you your rights as an American citizen and take you someplace where we can talk about it. Can you trust us enough to come quietly?" He was calm and collected on the outside, but he felt like he was walking on egg shells filled with velociraptors on the inside. One wrong move and her ability could flicker on and tear him into itty bitty pieces, and it wasn't just himself he was looking out for. Siren was in kill range too, as was the rest of the crowd. Thus the need to speak in measured polite tones. As long as she had no reason to perceive anyone here as being in her way, she'd remain calm and cooperative. The word demon ringing in his head didn't help though. Did he have enough faith to allow the Lord to guide his tongue? He certainly hoped so. |

"I can't make any promises about his well being, that's all in the hands of the medical staff of the hospital he's being taken to." She looked to the side as the paramedics made haste, yet carefully transported the ailing Mark to the ambulance before driving off towards the nearest hospital, about eight or so blocks away if she recalled. While the young man's wound was serious, she was sure that time was on their side; he had to be tough to have lasted out this long without losing conciousness. Unfortunately for him, an injury like that would probably leave a scar he would have to live with for the rest of his life. She turned back to the girl, who was becoming very aggravated by Viper's pressence. "As for the rabbid dog over there, I'll be sure to keep him off your back. Don't worry about him, somewhere, deep down inside the recesses of his being, he probably only means well...probably." Jeff had approached them while Siren was making sure that Mark had been transported safely, coming in beside Siren before speaking out. He was obviously trying to be less formal and more relaxed with the girl, but he was not exactly doing a very good job of it. "Hey there. I'm Jeff. I work with Siren. Now that your friend is safe, we have something that needs to be discussed. To my understanding, your friend isn't the first person you've hurt today. Because of that, we need to tell you your rights as an American citizen and take you someplace where we can talk about it. Can you trust us enough to come quietly?" "What my friend here is trying to say is, we need you to come with us so you can tell us everything that happened to you today. It's our job to understand what happens in the city so we can help protect the people, so if anything happened to you that made you hurt your friend, then we need to do something about it." Siren was not really sure how the girl would take being brought in for questioning; it was very obvious that a lot of common, everyday things were very alien to her. While mutants with varying physical appearances weren't as common as everyday people, someone had to have seen at least one during their everyday life. This girl was a teenager, she was more likely to have gone to school with a mutant than someone in their early thirties. She was begining to think that, perhaps this girl really was not of this world, maybe not even a demon at all. Before Erik could even react to Esika's entry of the tend, she was flung onto him from out of the ground, of all places. He did his best to remain on his feet, stumbling a little as he caught her. The shadowman then proceeded to plunge the entire tent into darkness, sealing off the exit as the world around them became blacker than a black ant walking on the blackest stone on a moonless night. "Hey, you okay? Do you know this joker?" Erik's ears could pick up the movements of the man, still erratic like he was teleporting all over the room. It was almost as if he was prancing around, before he taunted them from the recesses of the darkened tent. "Hope you kids aren't afraid of the dark." "Au contraire mon ami, the dark suits me juuuuuust fine." Erik's eyes took on a more beastly appearance, his pupils slit down the middle with his irises turning a blood red colour. Like most predatory animals, Erik could now see almost as perfectly in the dark, his sense of sight enhanced tenfold. He slowly let go of Esika, as he spotted his quarry on the other side of the tent, by the comm equipment. The other man promptly kicked a chair straight towards Erik, as he bent his arm back and slammed his fist straight into the incoming projectile, smashing the sturdy wood to pieces that dispersed around him. He then faced his opponent, a toothy grin exposing his enlarged canines crossing his features. "Dude, you have no idea what you just brought upon yourself." Erik fired off a fast moving ball of energy straight for the man, before sprinting to the his left and coming up on his opponent's right side, left elbow first. He slammed his elbow into the shadowman's neck, following it up with an electrically charged right palm aimed straight for his opponent's chest, regardless of whether he tried to avoid the attack or not. |

"Rabid dog? That's putting it lightly," Viper thought, his gaze never leaving the demon. The only thing between his gaze and the demoness was the barrel of his handgun. Some well-tested instinct was screaming at him that upon entering custody, the demoness would cut loose. That was what he was waiting for. As soon as he saw the dark energy come forth, he would leap in like a jungle cat. It was stupid to think this thing would just come quietly. Considering all the blood it shed today, coming quiet was out of the question. He would merely just wait. Besides, if he couldn't get the demon this way... ...there was always another way. Always. |

(No folks, I'm nowhere near settled in yet as I am still on the road, but I think I can post. Complimentary Wi-Fi's a pain, but workable.) The illusionist must have picked up on his partner's mannerisms somewhere along the way since he made a point of dropping the cloak... at least for their conveniently acquired hostages. A quick snap of the fingers and both the cloaking field and life-draining field were more or less shut down, though he could easily spring both back to life if the need arose. "Understood. I'll give the hostages a look-over to try and identify just what happened to them while you sort the grunts out." He decided to add something else with a positively wicked smile. "Try not to hurt them too badly." It was a tasteless joke on his part, but he got the distinct feeling that these thugs were the beginning of something troublesome. Something that would probably annoy the hell out of him while simultaneously work on his nifty little spell line. Finding the hostages was the easy part... Though he did take a moment to remove the grunt's weaponry from the immediate area as a precaution. While they sounded sincere enough, you'd have to be retarded to trust people like that without good reason. Once that was settled, Javon walked up to the grouped hostages and set to work in his attempts to figure out what the brainwashing did and if there was any way to undo it. He wasn't the type to just up and help the innocent for no reason under normal circumstances, but hey, free research! His identification attempts resulted in him layering down every type of detection runic he knew, ranging from illusions, to curses (anything from brainwashing to the creation of hapless sleeper agents), to geas, to the most immediate of mind-alteration magic. He'd make a point of making a sweep of the grunt work as well, since the leader was talking about contracts. |
