"Huh?" Erik whirled around to face the girl who had just tapped him on the shoulder and addressed him. He was caught off guard, both by being randomly approached so specifically at such a public place and by how charming and friendly this girl was. "I...uh...umm...thanks?" He was a little flabbergasted, partially because he was taken by surprise and partially because of his sub-par communication skills with the opposite sex. It took him a moment to adjust, but it still felt very awkward for him. "I uh, came in with the orphanage. I was visiting my mother and got roped into going with the kids on their trip. She figured I could use the break...my mother that is." The girl introduced herself to him as Esika, which prompted him to extend his hand in a shake. "Ah, nice to meet you, my name's Erik. Soooo....Esika....that's an interesting name. Umm...was there something you needed me for or were you just looking for someone to chat with?" He mentally kicked himself, noting that the way he worded his last sentence seemed rather rude and implied she had nothing better to do than to heckle the carnival's patrons. "Ah, no, I mean like, you were bored and needed...I mean...god I'm such a douche. Sorry, I'm just not used to random people coming up to me and talking to me out of the blue. Anyways, is there anything I can help you with?" |

"What do you mean agai-" Sooku began to reply before his conversational partner quite literally vanished into thin air. Heaving a sigh, he took his first good look at the murder scene turned battlefield since he had been attacked. It was a mess. The bodies had caught some of the avoided blasts and seemed to be even more mangled than before, while their blood had found its way onto every surface. Picking up his right leg, Sooku was dismayed to find he had been stepping in the red liquid all along. "Jeez, just when things were starting to get fun too." he muttered, crouching and placing his buster against the ground. "Well, best to get out of here before somebody walks by. Let's see, this building is three stories tall..." Releasing the beam he had been charging as a countermeasure against the demoness sent the young man rocketing up the alley wall, leaving a trail of bloodied footsteps all the way. He shot a steel grapple the rest of the way when his velocity began to slow about halfway up, leaving him dangling comfortably. He wiped his shoes thoroughly against the wall before hoisting himself up. "I'd hate to be the guy investigating that scene," he chuckled, walking along the rooftop. "Still, this Lyness character isn't good news. She's a little too homicidal for my tastes. Guess I'll just have to stop her myself." He grinned. This was going to be a fun day after all. |

Marianne smiled at the sisters, taking a certian childish joy in Madelyn's embarrasment. "Yeah we'll be going there after this. It's not too far from here, and I need to make sure that you look extra good for a particular guest~" She gave a playful nudge to Ethaniel and stuck her tounge out. Ethaniel just groaned and rolled his eyes. He took another sip of his drink in an attempt to ignore her behavior. "Right well, I know a really fast way to get anywhere, just tell me which way it is." Suddenly, Marianne's face was quite serious. "No. Nuh-uh. Never. The last I took you up on that offer I almost died. DIED. We are going to walk there. End of story." Ethaniel rolled his eyes again. "I still say it was your fault." Her stare was a cold, unamused one. Just how something he did was her fault was an incredulous notion. One that required correction. Severe correction. Had she actually been sitting in front of him, a vein in her forehead would be visibly pulsating right now. Thankfully Bertha came in with everyone's food before Marianne could actually do anything remotely illegal. "Sorry for the wait folks. One order of chiken fingers, a burger and Ethaniel's usual." She set Each plate of food in front of the person that ordered it...and Ethaniel's "usual" consisted of a plate of nachos, three burgers, a plate of fries and a pickle. Wait, can sharks even eat pickles with nothing going horribly wrong? In any case, Bertha gave a smile and a nod before walking over to help another customer. Ethaniel cracked his knuckles and gave his jaw a quick rub. This...was frankly a lot of food. Right then he, quite literally, tore into one of the burgers. Watching him half chew and half gulp his food down was not a pleasent thing to watch. Then again, considering the fact that he has razor sharp triangular teeth instead of the normal teeth you'd find in a human mouth, it was surprising that his eating habits weren't worse. Marianne gave up on punishing Ethaniel the moment she was reminded why she never watches him eat. Ever. "So...anything in particular you girls be interested in looking at when we get there?" She mainly asked that to make sure they didn't watch while Ethaniel ate. The reason why spoke for itself. |

"Ah, nice to meet you, my name's Erik. Soooo....Esika....that's an interesting name. Umm...was there something you needed me for or were you just looking for someone to chat with? Ah, no, I mean like, you were bored and needed...I mean...god I'm such a douche. Sorry, I'm just not used to random people coming up to me and talking to me out of the blue. Anyways, is there anything I can help you with?" Esika's slightly confused gaze locked onto Erik as he fumbled a bit in the conversation, but she soon found herself laughing. She shook his hand, a slight grin spreading across her face as she did so. She wasn't sure if this was how he normally reacted to strangers, or if maybe it was something about her, but she found it a little sweet that he hurried to correct what he perceived as something that might have bothered her. "It's fine, Erik....I hope it's alright if I use your first name. I didn't need anything in particular, I just thought it would be fun to have someone to talk to." She was a little embarrassed to admit that, of course, but she continued on regardless. "My job is to mind the carnival, act as security and make sure there isn't any fighting or mischief. As long as I'm keeping an eye out, I'm pretty much free to do as I please. I don't really have a criteria for picking conversations with people, I just choose somebody and hope they're friendly and all that..." She allowed the sentence to trail off as she gazed out into the crowd, watching the different kids as they ran around. How many of them were from the orphanage that Erik spoke of? It was rather touching to know that he was willing to come out with these kids, regardless of the reason. "I think it's kind of sweet of you to come out, even if your mother had to persuade you to come along. I'd think that the kids would really like it, at any rate...I hope I'm not being too invasive with this question, but were you an orphan, by any chance? I mean, I'm not trying to offend you or anything. A-and if I am offending you, then I'll apologize now." Esika let out a nervous laugh as she looked back to Erik, blushing slightly. Apparently it was her turn to be flustered because of their conversation. "Sorry, I'm a naturally curious person, so I sometimes ask questions without considering someone else's feelings." * * * * * The girls merely listened in as Marianne and Ethaniel talked between themselves, and before they knew it, their food was being delivered to them. Madelyn eagerly accepted her chicken fingers, and Emilyn took her own meal, both girls happily thanking the kind waitress. The duo eyed up the sizable meal Ethaniel had set before him; even with their time in the carnival, they'd yet to see anyone with an appetite that could handle so much food, and even though it shouldn't have been shocking considering that Ethaniel was a shark man, they couldn't help but to stare in awe at the various plates of food. Emilyn quickly got over her own awe at the sheer volume of food the shark man would be consuming, attacking her own burger with the zeal of a person on the verge of starvation. Madelyn, on the other hand, didn't even touch her own meal as Ethaniel began devouring the mountain of food set before him. As much as she might have thought to turn away, she couldn't help but be fascinated by it. So much so that she didn't even pay attention to Marianne as she began talking to them again. Her eyes kept darting between the quickly emptying plates and the mouth full of daggers that worked to quickly tear the food apart. Madelyn understood what it meant to be a predator, but she'd never had the chance to observe what was the equivalent of a wild beast consuming a freshly caught prey item. After a few moments, she smiled slightly, finally taking a large bite out of one of her strips of chicken. "So...anything in particular you girls be interested in looking at when we get there?" "You know Mary, that's a pretty good question..." Emilyn admitted, setting down her half-finished burger and casting a sideways glance at Ethaniel before turning her full attention to the older woman. "The lingerie is only something we wear when we're out performing. I mean, we don't dress in anything fancy, but we like to at least be presentable in our everyday lives beyond the canvas of the carnival. We really ought to go shopping for something besides lingerie as well. I know Madelyn has really been wanting new outfits, especially since we don't tend to have free time on the road to go shopping. Today has really just been a lucky day as far as having free time goes. Isn't that right sis?" Emilyn's gaze shifted back to her sister when she didn't get an immediate response, eyes narrowing as she realized her twin was still fixated on watching Ethaniel stuff his face, only occasionally taking a bite of her own food. "Madelyn?" She questioned, hoping to catch her attention by calling her name. However, her sister appeared too mesmerized to notice. Emilyn pushed close to her sister, leaning toward her. "Madelyn!" Emilyn shouted, causing her sister to jump startled. "What the hell did you do that for?!" Madelyn questioned, only receiving a devilish smile in response. ((Since Lynness isn't near anybody I'll figure something else out with her for my next post, and I'll start advancing the plot beyond just the character interaction.)) Marianne nodded as Emilyn spoke. They could probably find exactly what they were looking for at the mall, so the only question was how many stores they would have to stop at. She raised an eye as she followed Madelyn's gaze over to Ethaniel and damn near gagged. He had also noticed her staring when Emilyn began making a fuss and raised a brow after slowing his Marianne gave a bemused smile to each in turn. "Will you look at that? Love really does let the beauty ignore the faults of the beast." Ethaniel, with a mouthful of food, turned to look at Marianne with his lips pressed into a line and his brows knuckled down. He couldn't give a smart-ass response, but his desire to make Marianne shut the fuck up was quite clear. "Ohoho? The big bad shark is embarrassed?" Her face was full of sarcastic surprise and her face made it clear that she was having fun getting reactions out of Ethaniel. When she said that, he really had to give it some thought. Why was he up in arms over some random chick he met a couple minutes ago? He couldn't say that he felt anything for her at this point, but the way she looks and talks to him made him feel fuzzy on the inside. Maybe he was finally getting his just reward for enduring being the butt of a deconstruction of heroism? Or maybe.... Nah, pointless conjecture is pointless. He'd have to endure being teased about his hero complex turning him into a pedo. He gave that last bit some thought. Why would someone that seems underage be wearing lingerie in front of hundreds of people? Obviously because they're legal. He felt a small part of him feel happy over that. He wanted to punch that small part of him until all its blood came out. He finished off the bit of food in his mouth and went back to eating, albeit at a more self-conscious pace. Marianne looked over Madelyn and began considering a few things. Namely the girl's measurements. "You know Madelyn, I think I remember seeing something at the lingerie store that would be perfect for you." She somewhat subtly made a gesture towards Ethaniel, to make it clear what he meant by "perfect" for her. |

Erik was a little surprised although thinking about it more, it probably made more sense than the initial mental image. He'd always asume a security guard would wear some kind of discernable uniform and be physically imposing and all that, like a bouncer. It was also odd to note that Esika did not look like she was carrying a weapon, but then that might just be because she was good at concealing it. No matter, the fact was that the girl was doing her job and that she obviously needed a way to bide her time to keep from becoming lethargic due to boredom. A carnival was a simple place, so there was obviously no high tech security or anything like that. It only made sense that she'd patrol the grounds and seem inconspicuous while doing so. "Oh, my bad, please excuse my rudeness. So security guard, that seems like a pretty serious job. I hope you've got help with it, this place is pretty big and hard to cover with just oner person." He continued walking with her, knowing she had to be moving around constantly to spot trouble instead of just being delegated to one position. It was a little odd for him to be having a conversation like this; apart from his housemate and his neighbour, he did not really have any friends at the university apart from a handful of acquaintances and he mostly kept to himself. Even then, he wouldn't really get into this kind of conversation with the two he spent more time with because he either rarely sees them or the opportunity never really arises. "I think it's kind of sweet of you to come out, even if your mother had to persuade you to come along. I'd think that the kids would really like it, at any rate...I hope I'm not being too invasive with this question, but were you an orphan, by any chance? I mean, I'm not trying to offend you or anything. A-and if I am offending you, then I'll apologize now. Sorry, I'm a naturally curious person, so I sometimes ask questions without considering someone else's feelings." It was interesting to note that this was probably the first time someone had asked that, at least, directly. Erik had no family, so to speak; his entire childhood was the orphanage and the only "relative" he had ever known was Marie. He was not even sure he would understand what being part of a family unit would be like considering he was adopted but either way, he was content with his life. Most people are under the impression that being an orphan was difficult or that it was a miserable life but, for all intents and purposes, he thought he had gotten by okay. He smiled a little at how it was Esika's turn to stutter and trip over her own words before responding. "Nah, don't worry about it, it's cool. Yes, almost two decades ago, I'd be amongst those kids. It was interesting, being a part of such a huge family I guess. But hey, it's the only life I've ever known, it's not like I can compare it to anything else." Although Erik was living relatively alone now and he seemed a lot more content this way. It felt a lot less intrusive, he could do pretty much anything he wanted without anyone doting over him or expecting him to do much. Of course it was not like he spent his free time doing anything an ordinary young adult would do... ...well, aside from his "other life". "So what about you? Did you like, run away from your family to join the circus, or is this just your night job?" |

Emilyn couldn't help but laugh at the small exchange of words between Marianne and Ethaniel, further amused by the fact that her sister was the cause of it, in a way. Her sister had always been that way, if she thought she liked somebody; she could overlook any seemingly minor flaws in a person as long as they seemed genuinely nice on the inside, and so far the shark man hadn't shown any signs of secretly being an asshole toward people. It sounded a bit bizarre, of course, imagining her sister dating a hybrid fish/humanoid, but if it made her happy, Emilyn didn't have the right to complain. Madelyn, on the other hand, had gone back to eating her food, her gaze downcast as she hurried to finish her plate. A slight blush still played at her cheeks; having been snapped out of her staring by her sister, her own embarrassment had returned full-force, and she wasn't ready to look up at anyone. She heard Mary ask Ethaniel if he was embarrassed, and found herself wondering how he was feeling. Her own emotions were probably getting the best of her anyways...they'd just met after all, it's not like people could like each other after so short a time...right? The fact that Marianne spoke to her again came as a slight surprise; the girl glanced up at the older looking woman as she spoke. "You know Madelyn," Mary said, "I think I remember seeing something at the lingerie store that would be perfect for you." Her oh-so-subtle gesture made it pretty obvious what she was talking about, and Madelyn smiled slightly before suddenly looking away. "Perfect for me? Heh, we'd have to find something that would fit in the first place; I wouldn't want my clothes falling off on stage." She gave a forced laugh as her gaze returned to Ethaniel for an instant, before shifting back to Marianne. "I'm sure we'll find something, but I don't know how good it'll look on me..." * * * * * Esika was able to breathe a mental sigh of relief as Erik brushed aside her concerns regarding her question. She considered it for a moment. This guy seemed to have a pretty positive outlook on his experiences, though he'd also admitted that he didn't have anything else to compare it to. She really wouldn't have expected an environment like that to be enjoyable, but what right did she have to question it? He'd actually lived through it, she was just going on her own apparent misconceptions regarding being an orphan. Erik decided to ask about her past as well, something she hadn't really expected. She took a moment to consider how to best answer, continuing to walk as she did so. "Well...I wouldn't necessarily call what I did running away. I mean, I didn't leave my home because I wanted to run away from my family. I'd been to the carnival a few years ago, and something about it fascinated me. I guess that much was obvious, because the person in charge of everything approached me and asked if I wanted to tag along and be part of this wonderful thing he was offering to people. I guess you could say it was a call to adventure in a way." Esika conveniently left out the fact that Micah somehow knew she was a vampire even without her saying anything. He'd offered her a chance to live a full life, like a normal human, able to freely move about in the sun without fear of death. He hadn't mentioned that it would still be like walking into the desert any time she was exposed to sunlight in such a way, but it was still a massive improvement to the life she'd been leading before. So in a way, his offer was still a call to adventure, allowing her to live in the open rather than in seclusion. "I do miss my family, though. I haven't spoken to any of them since I left. For all I know, they've moved back to Europe by now. They came here before I was born, but I know they always wanted to go back..." * * * * * "EVERYBODY GET MOVING NOW!" The large crowds in the multi-story bank began screaming in terror as firearms were waved at them, random shots ringing out into the air as the criminals began corralling the frightened citizens and staff behind the front desks. After they were all situated, one of the gunmen went up to the desk, searching out the police alarm and triggering it himself. None of the criminals was particularly keen on hiding their appearance, their faces fully exposed to whatever surveillance systems were running in the building. "Why are you doing this?!" A woman in the crowd questioned pleadingly, garnering a serious look from a man with disheveled brown hair, locks of it falling into his face. "We are all here to herald the glorious reawakening of the Vermilion Lord!" He exclaimed proudly, his henchmen shouting with excitement. "In just a few short days, he will arrive once again on this mortal plane, to bring about a new age of peace and prosperity for all, fixing this corrupt and unjust world that we live in today. We're prepared to use any means to announce his return, so that all may worship him when he sets foot on this earth again!" Edited by Eternally Fallen, Aug 4 2011, 11:38 PM.

Marianne gave a soft "kufufufufufu" at Madelyn's concern's. "Don't worry darling, with what I have in mind you'll have all the boys head over heels. ...Hmm, though we do need to make sure the colors are right...and you seem like more of a lace person than one that goes for fishnet..." She thought about that last part and stifled a chuckle. "On second thought maybe we should go with fishnet for this occasion." Her mind wandered back to what Madelyn said about her cloths falling off on stage and considered how much it would cost to have an outfit with a built in wardrobe malfunction.... Ethaniel on the other hand only raised a brow before downing the last of his third burger. he hadn't caught the "fishnet" connection between Madelyn and himself but it sounded suspicious to him all the same. He crammed ten or so french fries into his mouth before feeling a distinct chill. Not a literal one, but more of the feeling of being stared at. He turned his head, looking past Marianne and out the front window. He saw a young woman, with long black hair and pale skin. She was wearing the uniform of some unknown catholic school and had an eyepatch with a metal plate affixed to the front. The metal plate had an emblem on it, one he recognized quite well. Once again his brows knuckled down and his lips were pressed into a line. She was staring at him. No, glaring with that eye that seemed to be made from obsidian, pitch black and shining in the light. "Ethaniel, you ok?" Marianne was looking at him, brow raised. Without a change in expression, his eyes looked at her before sliding back to where SHE was standing. He didn't see the young woman, almost as though she was never there to begin with. His face relaxed into a more neutral expression. And then he made sure to eat the fries that were in his mouth, because talking with food in your mouth looks nasty. "No, nothing's wrong." That was a lie, but his tone made it clear that he didn't want to talk about it. At least not in front of people that don't need to be involved in his business. Marianne nodded, and gave him an understanding pat on the shoulder. "So, we'll head out whenever you're all done." She also had to make sure that she found a chance to switch places with her golem that was with them and actually be there for the show. The shopping she could organize remotely, but to not even be there for her potential Ethaniel munched on a fistful of nachos. |

(Maggots need to post in both RPs. Seriously, get off your lazy asses already. D:<) "Bird's gotta leave the nest eventually." Erik mused, remembering that he too ended up following his own path eventually. He was not really sure if he would have stayed in the orphanage but an opportunity presented itself to him, one that allowed him to pursue his dream and he took it. He could understand exactly where Esika came from when talking about a call to adventure. Still though, he found some of that story rather odd. "Though I dunno about completely cutting contact with your folks for so long. I mean, a few years...that's a bit much and you're not really sure if they're still around. Maybe you should, you know, give them a call?" Unfortunately for Erik, the words had already left his mouth when he realised that he was butting into someone's personal life, one that he had no understanding of in the first place. "Sorry, my bad, that was uncalled for. It's not really any of my business. I just have a bad habit of being too forward sometimes." He then began to conscientiously look around for a distraction, something to perhaps change the subject. He immediately took note of something a little ways away; a stand selling candy apples. "You know, I've never had one of those before. You want one? My treat...unless you're not allowed to snack while on duty or something." |

"Well that was a massive waste of time." Javon had his hands in his pockets as he walked down the street, currently trying to make up for lost time by searching for something unusual. He didn't feel like dwelling on what had made him waste so much time, and instead focused on actually getting somewhere with this. Said attempt at getting somewhere meant tracking down the carnival, which would be easy given the fact that it's been advertised extensively, or wandering aimlessly until something happened. While he really should have just up and done the former, he wound up doing the latter of the two options since he wasn't sure what he was supposed to look for when he got there. It's not like he could just walk into the place to study it extensively and determine its purpose given the fact that those inducted into the Clock Tower are sworn to secrecy, and then there's the fact that going into a place who's inner workings are completely unknown is nothing short of suicide. ...Well, the same could be said of his agreeing to join the Clock Tower to begin with, but they haven't decided to cut him up to figure out what made him tick. Not yet anyway. The illusionist figured that it was only a matter of time before they placed a Sealing Designation on him for essentially figuring out how to reverse the flow of mana in spellwork and making the process practical, if not a little slow. That didn't cover the entire deal though, but even something like that would be enough to throw the old families into an uproar since the Reverse Spell line could easily destroy countless decades worth of magical research in a matter of moments. In theory anyway. The implications were there though, so something like this had to be kept under heavy wraps, especially since he couldn't be sure that there weren't other Clock Tower operatives in the city to keep an eye on him or to investigate the carnival for their own purposes. In all honesty, he wouldn't be surprised if there were a dozen other magus looking in on this. If anyone in that setup weren't normal and held possible research value, odds are good they'd never be left alone. The politics and amoral nature of most Clock Tower magus wouldn't allow it. Not that the idea of experimenting on those people didn't cross his mind, but he knew the value of discretion. The last thing he wanted to do was to piss a bunch of superpowered people off when he had no backup to help him out. That being said, he managed to spot a familiar shark man who was once his tournament partner for a rather disappointing tourney. No fault of his old partner, mind, but rather because the situation kept getting more idiotic by the moment, and lots of bad decisions were made by three people out of four in the final bout, the one he really wanted to win. But his partner managed to win and finish off the exhibition match and the illusionist got a lot of data out of it, so it wasn't a complete waste of time... He stepped inside the building with plans to make himself known, but applied his usual anti-detection spell well beforehand to stop anyone from seeing him. While this wasn't professional by any stretch of the imagination, he wasn't here on business. He stepped to Ethaniel's side, tapped him on the shoulder once, and decloaked in an instant, making it appear that he had popped out of thin air. "It's been a while." |

Kyosuke was elated when he discovered that the carnival was being held in town; he decided to follow the path of his alarm clock. He approached the window and hefted himself through the opening, ignoring the fact that he lived on the fourth floor. He grasped onto the window's edge, trying to lift himself up before he fell to his death. "Oh my God! I can't believe.....that I flew five thousand miles for this-" he was interrupted when his fingers lost their forceful grip onto the ledge. Kyosuke plummeted to the ground with a loud splat sound emanating from the location onto which he dropped. Pedestrians who saw the event happen rushed towards the man; some wore horrified expressions, some were calling for an ambulance, others checked his pulse. The people were all shocked to see the man rise from the ground, scratching his head, as if nothing happened. "And people said watching cartoons can't teach you to survive a four floor drop. Guess I proved them wrong, he he he he he he. Okay people, nothing to see here, please disperse." Kyosuke made his way to the carnival's entrance, trying to maneuver through the crowd. He pulled out his guitar and started fretting after he paid for the ticket. "YOU'RE IN THE PSYYYYYYYYY........YOU'RE IN THE PSYCHO CIRCUUUSSSSSS AND I SAY WELCOME TO THE SHOW!" The noise attracted a lot of attention, which motivated Kyosuke to move elsewhere. He walked around, scrutinizing the area for something that will prove interesting; a certain booth stood out. People were gathered around the booth, trying to win at the game. From a glance, Kyosuke deduced that the objective of the game was that the player tries to capture fish using a small net. Kyosuke paved a way through the people and towards the booth. "I'll give it a shot bub. So.......I'll just grab that golden one........cause you are worth a thousand poin-AH WHAT THE HELL? That's one slippery fish. Screw this game." the frustrated Kyosuke slammed the net into the fish tank and left the booth. "Wasn't that a minigame in Naruto Broken Bond? Oh no, that means......" his sentence was interrupted when a woman approached him. "Can you help me? I seem to have lost my purse in the other end of the world, no way near the village. Can you get it for me?" "Do I look like I have time to wander through annoying random encounters and get lost for some stupid purse. Get it yourself Non Lynness So That Means You're Hot Eew What A Bad Memory I'll Kill You Fenix For That Lady lady. Wait a minute, first, that was a long name. Second, do I look like I live in your village? Get outta here! I'm the only one allowed to make references." The women ran away, tears pooling in her eyes and flooding on her cheeks. Kyosuke walked around even more, laughing and making fun of people who wear in close proximity of him. That all came to an abrupt halt when he spotted a man and a woman at a stand designated for candy apple provision. "is that.....is that Psycho without a 'k'? My God it is him.....what's he doing with that hot chick that sorta reminds me of some guy who controls some chick I.....Nah must be imagining things. Anyways, I'll stalk them like a Predator by mysteriously disappearing as a bunch of people pass in front of me nonchalantly, he he he he he he." Kyosuke approached the two via standing amidst a crowd; his head bowed as his palms crossed fingers across his chest. "Now if I just keep pressing the X button and stay in Monk Mode, they will never see me." Kyosuke passed the stand a few times, trying to see if they will notice him. "I'm doing fine so far. Either my Monk Mode is working, or they haven't spotted me yet because they have their backs turned. Either way, I'm still safe. Man Erikh will be so thrilled to see me. He he he he." "I didn't mean to cut off contact completely, to be honest." Esika admitted, frowning slightly as they continued to walk through the carnival. She glanced about for a second, watching as some of the children ran around happily, clearly enjoying their visit. "I guess you could say I sort of got swept up in my duties here. I mean, I agreed to work for them for a while, and it wasn't an obligation I was comfortable breaking off." The specifics of her work arrangement were a little less benign than she was willing to let on, especially to a stranger. Even if he was easy enough to talk to, she wasn't comfortable sharing what she was with many people, even if it wouldn't necessarily evoke a negative response. She couldn't help but smile as Erik pointed out the candy apples, nodding at his offer. "They're really good, I'm sure you'll like them. Anyways, it's not something you need to apologize for. My run of employment actually ends after we're done her. I've been looking forward to it for a while now, really. I mean, being involved with the carnival has been pretty fun. You get to see all these places you couldn't have imagined traveling to normally, meet many interesting people. She couldn't help but remember all the negatives involved in it all, things which in her mind weighed more heavily than the benefits. "But then again, when you travel so much, you also lose out on some of the benefits of a routine life. Like keeping the friends you make in new locations. It's hard to keep in touch with anyone when you're constantly on the move and busy. I'd like to settle down once I'm done. Perhaps go back to school." A sudden vibration caught the girl's attention, and she quickly conjured her cellphone, barely glancing at the caller ID before flipping open the device and putting it to her ear. "Yes?" She asked, slightly concerned that Mark was calling her now, of all times. "That gang Micah keeps around just came up on the news. Seems as though he sent them into town to cause trouble; they've holed up in a bank with a large group of hostages, proclaiming that the Vermilion Lord comes soon. I don't understand what he was thinking sending them into town. Something like that can't be good for his goals, can it?" "I see. Well, I'm still patrolling, since Micah asked me to keep an eye out for suspicious activity." With a sigh, the vampiress closed her phone, taking a small bite out of her candy apple. "Sorry about that, it was just some routine check-in the carnival does." * * * * * The small group of terrorists found themselves face to face with a complaint, though terrified, crowd of hostages. A few of them went about talking to the people they'd gathered at the back, sharing with them the glorious news of the Vermilion Lord; others stood watch over the entirety of the group, guns at the ready should anyone foolishly attempt to flee or take them on. A select few heavily armed men watched the entrances to the building, intent to keep out law enforcement. After all, their hostages would only be valuable alive; dead civilians meant a failed mission. "How's the plan going, Bobby?" The disheveled leader asked one of his subordinates, the serious look never leaving his face despite their plan being successful thus far. "The boys seem to think the crowd is pretty responsive and receptive. Indoctrinating them shouldn't take long, and then we can work on our escape. Honestly, the big boss man really knows his stuff. Hypnotism as a form of imparting beliefs onto civilians? Never would have thought of it myself, to be honest." The underling scratched his head, blond hair ruffled around his fingers as he gazed toward the front. "I guess the plan really depends on how long law enforcement takes to act. We can always hope they're more concerned about civilian casualties, right?" "Yeah..." the boss responded. "I don't put much stock in the boss' plans for the next few days, but he promised us prosperity if we acted on his behalf. These specials of his should be able to do a pretty good job of making sure everything works out on our end, so that we can get out of this contract." * * * * * Lynness slowly made her way around the shopping complex, halting on occasion to peer into the windows of the various shops, admiring what they had to sell. Some people gave her strange looks, prompting her to head toward one of the restrooms. Locking the door behind her, she gazed into the mirror, almost shocked at how bad she looked; though blood spraying over you tends to have that effect, the girl was still slightly disturbed by how terrible it was. Working quickly, she cleaned the blood off herself, using soap and warm water to scrub where it had already started to dry. Soon enough, she was at least presentable. Before she could unlock the door, some angry sounding woman began hitting the door from the outside. "I need to use the restroom!" She shouted, prompting Lynness to unlock the door. The woman looked her over once before pushing passed, knocking the younger demoness to the side as she hurried in. "How rude of you." Lynness remarked, a shaft of black matter forming propelling itself through the woman's chest, running her through before vanishing. The teen quickly left the bathroom, happily leaving the rude lady to bleed out alone. A little more content than before, Lynness next entered a busy clothing store, her eyes immediately falling upon a very pretty white sundress. She grabbed the article of clothing off the shelf, ready to go back to the restroom and change into it, yet before she realized it an alarm had gone off, and some guy was fighting with her, trying to pull the dress from her hands. "You can't just take this!" He yelled in her face as he yanked hard, somehow overcoming the girl momentary and pulling the garment free from her grasp. She quickly followed, tearfully running after him as he went back into the store, the nosy eyes of other store-goers following her. "Please, I just want to wear a pretty dress like that!" Lynness pleaded with the man, only earning a look of contempt from him as he turned to face her. "I'm calling security. If you don't have any money, there's no reason for you to even be in here." He declared, spinning on his heels to continue walking toward the desk. Lynness still tried to reason with him, but the man didn't respond, and it was a matter of moments before mall security was trying to pull her out of the store. She resisted with all her strength, the men barely able to budge her. Before they could even think to restrain her or pull their weapons, thin blades of darkness tore through their forms, leaving them bloody husks on the cold floor. The shoppers began to panic, quickly fleeing for the exit, but an unintended storm of black blades made short work of several dozen patrons before they had a chance to get away. Lynness walked toward the shop head, somehow still uninjured, and conjured a black blade, stabbing him in the chest before taking the dress as her own, grasping it in her free hand. "I told you I just wanted the dress!" Lynness shouted, kicking his barely conscious figure out of spite. "I don't understand why everyone is trying their best to make my life miserable. I haven't done anything wrong." Edited by Eternally Fallen, Aug 4 2011, 11:40 PM.

Several miles outside of town, the remains of a young boy lay basking in the sun on the bottom of a hill. Flies have already started their sick work on the boy as nature dictated while the surroundings were ironically peaceful. That did not last long, for the quiet of the day was soon interrupted by the roar of a motorcycle. Streaking towards town was a black-garbed man on a ferocious-looking motorcycle that seemed to have two massive front teeth. As the traveler raced towards town, he past by the corpse of the boy. Suddenly, he stopped. Then, slowly backing up to the corpse, he looked down on it through his shade. Kicking the support into position on his bike, he dis-boarded his motorcycle to look down upon the tragically-ended life. "Now what the hell happened to you?" he wondered aloud in a deep gravelly voice. Seeing the boy slaughtered, a rage awoke within the traveler's heart that no fire could match. Stooping down, he saw the full extent of the boy's injuries that lead to his death. The killing blow was being skewered by what looked like the seat of a bicycle. Looking around briefly, he found the bike. Indeed, the seat had been torn off along with its support bar. Noting the cuts and bruising on the boy's face, he concluded that the bastard that did this had ripped off the bike seat and support bar right off the bike and skewed the boy as he lay bleeding and beaten. A growl emitted from the man's throat. He slowly became aware of a strange fume among the stench of rotting corpse, a smell unmistakable from any other: sulfur. Who or whatever had slaughtered this boy had the stink of brimstone. The man clenched his fist and stood up. Looking down upon the boy, he said, "Rest easy, kid. I'm off to kill a black cat." He took off his sunglasses, and wiped them down. As he did, he looked towards town ahead of him with his venom-yellow eyes. He had a hunch that the creature that did this had gone on ahead. Well, he'd better be ready for him...for the Viper was on his trail...and he would not stop until he ripped out the heart of this creature with his own hands. However, there still left the matter of the kid. Rarely did Viper feel pity for any living creature, but had found himself sympathizing with children, particularly those living a happy life. Any child that was mistreated by anyone was fair game in his book. Still, this poor soul needed to be found by someone else than he. Whipping out a communicator, he dialed into a police frequency and listened in on the back and forth calls from the station to officers on duty. Not one for tact, he said. "You will find a child dead five miles south of New Alastia, next to his bicycle. I suggest you hurry..." The police frequency went dead as no one spoke. Finally a dispatcher said, "Who is this?" Viper turned off the communicator and jumped on his bike. The hunt was on and he wasn't about to let this one get away...not while he still drew breath. Edited by Arem, Aug 8 2011, 05:35 AM.

"Hard to keep in touch? What, you've been in the carnival too long to know about the internet?" He chuckled as he grabbed two candy apples, paying the vendor before handing one to Esika. He looked at it for a few minutes before trying to bite into it, wincing as the shock of his teeth making contact with the hardened candy reverbated through his skull. "Ow...how do you eat these things anyway?" Before he knew it, Esika was on the phone, a concerned tone in her voice. He wasn't one to pry on another's private conversation, but his heightened senses couldn't help pick up a few words from the other end of the phone, despite how much he suppressed them. "...gang...Micah...news...town...trouble...bank...hostages...Vermilion Lord...understand...sending...town...good...goals..." His stomach began to churn. He was not really sure what the conversation was about but it was very unsettling. While not one to jump to conclusions, his gut was telling him he needed to react in some way or another. Maybe they were just talking about a movie or something. I really need to stop overreacting. Esika had already hung up the phone, turning back to him when he returned his focus to the current situation. Her response did not really resolve any inner conflicts he was already having about what to do. "Sorry about that, it was just some routine check-in the carnival does." "Ah, okay then." Funny, that's not what it sounded like. He mentally slapped himself to awaken from his stupor. Acting paranoid and being anxious was not going to solve anything, whether there was a real crisis or not. He needed to be cool keep a level head considering he had absolutely nothing to go on appart from some words he'd overheard from a conversation over the phone. It was pointless to actively pursue this further. Besides, what could a group of carnies do to cause any trouble the police could not handle? Before he could get back to enjoying himself, he had picked up a very familiar scent amidst the crowd around them. He began sniffing the air, trying to pinpoint where it was coming from as well as where he'd smelled it before. "Hmmm, where do I know that from..." |

Kyosuke peeked through the crowd to see the pair moving away from the candy apple vendor; Erik was apparently having difficulty eating his own, Kyosuke couldn't help but giggle at the sight. He decided to walk towards the duo and surprise his friend. His approach was halted when he saw the women accompanying Erik answer her phone. Once she hung up, Kyosuke received a message on his cellphone; the message apparently contained funny material since a wide smile could be seen on Kyosuke's face. A crowd conveniently passed by the pair, which allowed Kyosuke to draw himself closer to his target unobserved. He spotted Erik sniffing around, his nose had probably picked up his scent. "I guess the Fourth Wall has a particular scent too, he he he he he!" Kyosuke giggled as he left the crowd and went into another one; the carnival seemed to harbour a decent amount of people. "Luckluckluckluckluckluck!" his tongue moved quickly as he mouthed the sound effect. Kyosuke then slammed his feet into two individuals, launching quite a distance before emerging before the confused Erik. "Boom bam baby! Co Commentator! How's it goin'? Long time no see......How's my pizza devouring friend doing eh? You probably need some Kyosuke love....everyone does." he approached Erik and embraced him, then let go of him. Kyosuke looked at the woman standing besides him, a mischievous smile painted on his face. "Hello there miss. You know, I would so force you into the bathroom right now like I did with your predecessor, but........oh wait, this is supposed to be a spoiler free walkthrough. AAAARRRGGH! That's no fun, let's hurry up and finish this game already. I have to make an appearance in 'D''C' right now..........Hey Pee Sycho, remember the bug plan-er the Grand Celestial? Remember when Dragon Procrastinator couldn't fight in the Nexus? Remember when Shark Weak stole Twilight Prince's amulet? Remember when Schizophrenia Yugi ditched him? Remember when Avdima showed up? Wait, that's the wrong tournament, the one that's still in round one. Well forget about her remember when I kicked out Emeraldinio and the Yellow Shirt? Remember when I crushed Mister Sandman with my awesomeness.......and my fourth wall? Good times good times! There were other people, but I chose not mention them because I can, he he he he he." he poked Erik with his index finger at each sentence. |
