Her first thought was that it was impossibly bright outside. Not just bright enough to be uncomfortable, but bright enough to inflict blindness on someone, as if they were staring straight into the sun. The feeling passed quickly, although the intensity of the light still caused her to narrow her eyes to lessen the irritation. She blinked several times as she sat up, a slight unease about herself. The first thing she caught sight of was her own arm. She flexed each finger one at a time, and then all of them at once. Her next thought was to stand. She stood, and began walking forward; it felt as natural as breathing. She slowly gazed about at her surroundings; everything was completely unfamiliar.

Of course, she shouldn't have expected to know where she was; these were her first moments of consciousness, after all. No real identity, nothing. She certainly didn't look like someone who had just awoken into the world; her figure was that of a young woman, roughly at the point of reaching adult maturity. Green eyes speckled with crimson spotting took in every detail, and black hair hung straight down from her head, cut off just above her shoulders. She brushed some of the black bangs from in front of her left eye, allowing herself a better view of the world around her. A set of gray horns curled out from her skull, the tips facing forward, and leathery black wings were spread wide behind her. As she began to walk at a faster pace, the demonic additions disappeared, looking as if they were incinerating before blowing away in the warm breeze.

The young lady climbed a nearby hill, feeling the grass beneath her feet with each step. Upon reaching the summit, she stood and gazed outward, using a hand to block the sunlight from her still sensitive eyes. In the distance some miles away, she could see buildings rising up like needles on the landscape, scattered about a large area, as well as a paved roadway that lead into the city itself. With a small smile, she began to walk toward the metropolis, humming lightly to herself as she went along.

"Alright, folks, we have a carnival to set up here!" Micah shouted, his voice carrying across the lot, deserted save for the transportation he and his co-workers had come in. There was a multitude of sighs and groans from many of them as they climbed from whatever seating they had taken up, moving to unpack the various rides and attractions that would draw the crowds in. Everyone began milling about, despite their annoyance at being put to work so shortly after arriving; long road trips tended to do that to people, and of course they had come from all the way across the country to unpack in this location. New Alastia loomed overhead, the leader having chose that spot for the mere convenience it offered the city folk to come out and see what they were all about.

Of course, few of them would realize that this fair was operated by those forsaken individuals that had been both blessed and cursed with gifts from the gods, abilities so fantastical that the average human couldn't even begin to wrap their minds around it. Even fewer still would be invited into the fold, allowed to know the secrets that only a small portion of the carnival workers themselves were aware of. It was only a matter of time before they could set everything into motion, and hopefully this would be their last stop.

Micah had grown weary of all the traveling, of always wondering how they would get by from day to day, wishing that they would have put on their last performance and could pack up permanently.

"So, this city seems promising, doesn't it?" a young woman asked, a pair of dark-tinted sunglasses covering her eyes.

"Oh yes." Micah responded. "I do believe that this shall be our final show, Esika. I've heard promising stories of New Alastia, and I think that by the time we've shown these people what we're all about, we'll have all that we need. I trust that you and Mark shall busy yourselves looking for potential recruits and keeping any troublemakers at bay."

"Of course..." Esika responded, before walking away from the man.

Micah gazed off toward the midday sun, a hopeful look in his eyes. "Very soon...things will be different."

((Alright, so the deal is that this carnival has set up shop outside of the city, their intentions unknown but for all intents and purposes nobody should suspect anything bad from these people, at least not in the beginning. After all, only a select group within the carnival even know what Micah is planning. If anyone wants to play a character in the carnival, or have a character join/attempt infiltration of said carnival, that would be awesome.

Meanwhile, a certain familiar demoness has just awoken from the darkness, and anyone that knows anything about her will know that things will probably get violent fast.

So that's basically it, feel free to join. Profile links in initial posts would be great, that way people can look at your character, although I'm sure we're well familiar with what each of us likes to use. I'll have profiles up by my next post for certain, so I'll add links with that.))

Shania and Patrick

Shania was hanging with her big bro Patrick, walking through the city of New Alasia. The City was quite open so it didn't bother him much. Shania was hovering on her hoverboard, cruising at Patrick's walking pace. There wasn't much to do on such a peaceful day. Shania was growing bored, Patrick never told her why they were in the City.

"PAAATT!"

"What Nia?"

"Can we do something fun or at least tell me why we are here?"

Patrick stopped in his tracks, causing Shania to almost fall off of her board. He turned to face her.

"I thought we could we could hang out more so you don't feel that I'm leaving you out"

A Flier caught Shania's attention. She jumped off of the hoverboard and got a closer look. Patrick knew her short attention span from living with for so long. Shania's eyes widened with excitement as she read the flier as it was an advertisement for a Carnival coming soon.

"New Alastia, eh? I guess we could have some fun like that, but it won't be open for some time"

Patrick remembered seeing a site under construction just before the city.

"AWW"
"I'm Bad, but that's good. I'm not good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me"

Ethaniel awoke with a pounding headache as sun light filtered into in small apartment. He found this weird as he remembered having the curtains in his room drawn shut. All it took for him to remember that he was on the couch in the living room was rolling off of said couch and landing on the floor in a heap.

This didn't deter him as he stood up, having endured worse injuries during the tournament than some small bruising. After his senses reoriented themselves, he realized something.

He smelled horrible. Might have had something to do with that empty bottle of rum on the floor...

Anyway, his first order of business was getting into the shower and freshening up.

Ethaniel walked through his unintersting and bland apartment and into his even blander bed room as he beelined for the bathroom. In moments he was standing in the shower letting hot water run over his scar covered body.

After about a minuet he was done and carefully brusing his teeth. One or two of his teeth were knocked loose from ramming the lip of the bottle of rum into his mouth, not to mention that they don't make tooth brushes for anthromorphic sharks. Considering that he may be the only one in the city, not a single toothbrush corporation gave a damn.

In a total of five minuets (and six completely ruined toothbrushes), he was in a fresh set of clothes that...looked a lot like what he wore yesterday. ...Didn't Marianne mention forcing him to choose something different to buy other than an endless supply of tanktops and camo colored pants?

As if on que there was a loud knock at the door. Ethaniel could only think of two people that'd be bothering him now and one of them was at work. The knocking grew more insistant as he walked to the door. When he opened it, surprise surprise, it was Marianne.

She was wearing a white shirt and a pair of blue jeans today. The shirt had a rainbow on the front. Under the rainbow the shirt had "Let's Fuck" written above the awesome face emote. She was also very giddy for some reason. "Guess what~"

"...Just tell me what the fuck you want."

Marianne pouted for a moment before smiling again. She pulled a flyer from her back pocket and opened it as she thrust it into his face. It was advertising some carnival that was setting up outside of town.

Ethaniel took one long look at it and looked up at Marianne (what do you expect, he's 5'11" and she's 6'). After giving a pregnant pause, his response was "Go by yourself."

Marianne pouted again. "But it's more fun when you bringa friend! Plus I get a discount for bringing potential talent~"

"I am NOT joining a carnival troupe."

"Oh come on, it could be fun! I think you'd make a mighty fine geek."

Of course, he knew that by "geek" she ment the old term that described a carnie whose job was entertaining crowds by biting off the heads of live chickens. At the notion of entertaining people in such a dull manner, Ethaniel shook his head, preparing to close the door on Marianne.

"If you come with me I'll stop coming to you apartment for a week."

"Deal." He went to grab his jacket off the coat rack so he could hide the brightly glowing gem on his armband as he stepped out the door. It'd be a while and they were probably going to be fully set up no matter how quickly they moved, so they took their time going down to the first floor.

Once the taxi pulled up, they were on their way to see the carnival.

((My profiles are conviently all in one post here and because I don't ever add any new posts my topic will soon be right at the bottom of the list, unless I hit some kind of maximum letter limit :V My current plan is to use Robert and Stitches.))

Robert yawned and scratched his head idly, slumped on the sofa that was also the bed of his two-room apartment. He had two week's holiday from work and after the excitement of the tournament there wasn't really much for him to do. To put it bluntly, he was bored.
Taking a break from work hadn't actually been his decision, his colleagues had forced him into it. When he was working was the time he felt most useful, striding invincibly into burning buildings and lifting people free from the blaze, shrugging off falling timbers, striding confidently through blazing walls... saving lives. He had honestly been suprised that his tournament opponent had been able to burn him so easily, the fire the mage had summoned must have been extremely hot! Regardless of this fact, his boss felt that putting in so many hours was unhealthy and ordered him to take a break for a while. Who could honestly argue with that?

Robert was a friendly enough person but not particularly self-confident. His retiring nature meant that he didn't really have any friends outside of work apart from his self-appointed doctor, Metal Chao, and after seeing far too much of him during the tournament he didn't really want to go and meet up with the tiny man.
This was why he was suprised when there was a knock on the door. He hadn't ordered a meal, wasn't expecting any mail and didn't really expect Metal Chao to call in unannounced. It wasn't that the chao cared about Robert's privacy but he was generally too busy making minimal profit in his obscure self-run weaponry, hardware repair and metalwork business to make social calls.

It took him only a few seconds to lift himself from the sofa and cross the small room to the door but by the time he opened it there was nobody there. He was about to close the door again, thinking angrily of the troublesome teenagers that lived a couple of floors down, when he noticed a flyer left on his doorstep, pinned down by a stone. He bent down to pick it up, examining it carefully as he shut the door and settled back down on the faded sofa.

"A carnival eh? Hmm...
I suppose I'm not doing anything else right now..."

Like the fighting tournament this wasn't the sort of event Robert would usually attend, however he really didn't have anything else to do except watch tv and he didn't think that's what his colleagues had meant when they told him to have a break. He woudln't get fat or unfit spending the whole two weeks sitting in front of the box eating chips, that was one of the advantages to having a body made of sand, but it probably wouldn't be good for his brain.
His mind made up, he curled a fist around the leaflet, his hand absorbing it and whisking it down through his body into one of the simulated pockets on the jacket he was suddenly wearing. After taking a second to grab his keys and wallet, turn off the television and cut the lights, he strode off towards the outskirts of town.
The carnival wasn't due to open for some hours yet but if he timed it right then by foot he should arrive just about on time.

Meanwhile on the roof of the apartment building, a short-haired girl who looked about 17 sat on a concrete block and watched as a blackened hand pulled itself over the edge, dragging the body of its somewhat ugly-looking owner behind it. She smiled as he shook himself, then stood and performed a ragged salute.
"Stitches! You're back! Did you give him the note?"
The bandaged man nodded enthusiastically, opening both fists to show that he was no longer carrying anything.
"Excellent! You will have to follow him there of course, this was we can finish their mission and our own at the same time. This way we won't arouse any suspicion."
The girl looked up at the sky for a minute, a fearful expression on her face, as if expecting a god to reach down and smite her for her insolence. After a few seconds, when this did not happen, her face cleared and she looked back at Stitches.
"Well, what are you waiting for? We're just about done here now so I suppose I probably won't see you again...
Look after my successor for me alright? She'll be younger than me and they'll probably keep her on a tighter leash. If she dies too soon then all this work will have been for nothing. Another opportunity like this might not come for another twelve planets, if we're lucky!"

Stitches took a few steps closer to his master as she sniffed, holding out a comforting hand.
"No it's ok, don't worry about me. My time is coming anyway. Just get out of here and get the job done."
With one final look back, Stitches slumped back over to the edge of the roof and leaped off. He fell forty-eight floors and landed, unharmed, in the alley between Robert's apartment and a similar building next door.
The girl shook her head sadly and waved at the space where he had been.
"Goodbye Stitches."
A few seconds later, she was gone too.

((While I can only imagine most of you have some idea of who Sooku is, I would still suggest reading the first paragraph of his profile. It may contain some new... insights.))

He had only been in the city for a couple of days. In a way, the place was like the old man had described; there were a number of odd folk wandering about. They were far from a majority, but it was easy to pick out at least someone in any given crowd that was more than your average joe. It was definitely the first place he had visited where his arm was more or less disregarded. And yet, it was disappointing. Despite the appearance of the populace, there wasn't any great adventure happening. Nobody was dueling in the middle of the road, or questing for mystical gems, or building death rays.

"Maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places..." he though aloud, meandering one of the city's central roads.

And then it hit him. Literally.

A bright flyer whooshed around a corned, landing square on Sooku's face. Pulling it off, he noticed that it was for a carnival of some sort.

"A carnival? Haven't been to one of those in a while," he muttered, shoving the sheet into his coat pocket. "Might have to check that out later."

Topaz walked through the halls of his office building located within the inner area of New Alastia. A mug of hot coffee was in the Incubus' right hand and it was constantly going up toward his mouth and then back down. A nice cup of coffee was exactly what he liked in the morning hours. A nice way to get started before dealing with any pesky annoyances. And his kind of business seemed to attract quite a bit of exactly that.

As he got to the end of the hallway, the demonic man reached out with his left hand and pushed the button on the side of the wall to call down the elevator. Taking a sip of the coffee once more, it soon came up and opened up for Topaz. The doors closed shut as the elevator music played. It was sort of calming in a way. Odd.

The elevator finally stopped at the top floor, the doors opening wide. He walked right on through, passing by the desk of his secretary. "Good morning, Sir Vendarious. I've organized some requests and other mail on your desk." "Guid work and ae Guid morning tae ye, lass."

Topaz passed right on through his own heavy black oak door and into his office, slamming the door shut behind him after switching over the coffee to his left hand so that his right would be free.

He sat in the large swivel chair behind his desk. On top of it rested several documents, just as the woman had said. "Junk. Junk. Junk. Keek at this later. Whit's this?" He picked up the last of the things in the small pile, a flyer for a circus coming to town. He reached over and pressed a button by an intercom.

"Whit's wi' this flyer, Coco?" He lifted his finger and received an immediate response. "I figured you might find some prospects with it coming to town, Sir." He tapped the finger he had out on the desk before pushing the button once more. "Braw. Whit appointments dae Ah hae today?" "Only two, Sir." He lifted his finger off the button once more. "Ch."

((Eh, this has got me interested enough. Javon's profile is here.))

The Mage's Association had sent Javon out to accomplish a number of things initially, not the least of which was to discern the nature of the Sacred Trinity and whether or not they were hostile, useful in some manner, or potential allies. He couldn't exactly say what came of that yet, but he would in due time. The tournament he fought in had also won him a respectable, if not thick-headed, ally

Aside from that, the Department of Mineralogy also requested that he do his usual magic in terms of locating rare gemstones and preforming various theoretical tests on them. He wasn't always compensated for his trouble, but he also knew how those spells were supposed to work inside and out, and oftentimes that was more than enough. Even more so when you consider that some of the field testing involved actually receiving new tools to play with every now and again, and it also means that the DoM trusted him.

The final primary objective was to case out any and all magic users in order to determine how they should be dealt with. Despite the MA's size, there just weren't enough natural magus' in the world to fill out their ranks like they wanted. Any unknown magic users could potentially bolster their numbers or bring about their downfall, so it is quite important to check everything.

That aside, the magus himself had rented out an apartment all to himself, which was in turn sparsely decorated on the off chance he was needed elsewhere. This wasn't out of the realm of possibility since events kept cropping up in such short periods of time, though it was unlikely they'd remove their representative from a location they know so little about. This also meant backup was unlikely unless other MA magus happened to be in the area, and if there were he hadn't found them yet.

That aside, he happened to be strolling down the street without any appreciable care in the world outside the last one, as the DoM has yet to send anything his way as of late and the first one was still a work in progress.

At least until a flyer for a carnival drifted by on the wind. Well now... Not really supposed to take a break here, but it's not like they'll care if I manage to come up with some sort of result. He then walked off toward the nearest means of getting to the ground, or if none were available he'd use his own magic to get there.

The girl had been walking for quite some time as the surrounding countryside passed with few houses, enjoying the warm breeze as she grew accustomed to weather and the glaring sun above. She would have been content to carry on like this for some time, but she stopped at the bottom of the hill she'd just crossed, just barely standing on the side of the road. Something was wrong, something that felt odd. Her stomach began to churn violently, prompting a frown from the teen as she began walking again.

"Ugh, I'm so hungry." she mumbled to herself, disappointed look only becoming more so as she continued on. So absorbed was she in this crisis that she entirely failed to notice an approaching hazard; at the bottom of the hill, not paying attention, and having no way of seeing behind herself, it was all but impossible for her to know that some young teenage boy was barreling toward her at a good speed, not looking forward and set on a collision course with the unsuspecting demoness.

As bicycle met girl, the young lady was toppled by the impact of the front wheel, falling sideways toward the grass. Her leg caught on the metal bits holding the wheel in place as she fell toward the ground, cutting her left calf slightly as she was sent rolling away from the road a few feet. The boy, meanwhile, lost control of the bike and crashed it rather violently against the pavement, his shins being scraped by the asphalt, the seat and supporting bar beneath it being torn loose from the now slightly bent up and twisted transport. The bag he carried fell to his side as he examined his shins, before turning his attention elsewhere.

"Oh man, my bike. It's totaled!" He cried out, examining the entirety of his favored method of getting around before finally giving the poor girl he'd just accidentally run over some of his attention. "I'm so sorry! I wasn't watching cause really nobody lives out here. Heh, I'm such an idiot sometimes. So uh...are you alright?"

The girl turned toward him, wiping a small tear from her cheek before looking at the cut on her leg. If nothing else, being hit by a speeding bicycle was a very unpleasant experience. The wound stung slightly and was bleeding a little, and her hands ached a little from hitting the ground hard, an attempt at stopping her own momentum.

"It hurts a little," she said quietly, a little saddened, before turning toward him suddenly with a hopeful look in her eyes. "Do you have any food you could give me?"

The boy looked at her with an eyebrow raised, uncertain what to make of her request. "I...I don't have any food with me. But, I may have some water or something in this bag, my sister likes to leave stuff like that all the time. Lemme go dig through, see if I can find any."

As he turned away from the girl, unzipping the backpack and beginning to pull things from it, the girl pushed herself up off the ground, wiping away the grass from her dress as she did so. Her gaze narrowed as he continued to dig, searching for what he felt may be in the bag. She couldn't believe his nerve, practically killing her and then acting as though it wasn't such a big deal, even taunting her with water when he couldn't pay her back with a little something to ease her disgruntled belly.

Her entire body tensed with rage, the girl's fingers curled a few times before her hand balled into a fist. She began stepping forward, her footfalls virtually silent in the grass with her lack of any footwear. As he began to pull a bottle from the bag, she brought her left foot back, her leg swinging back around and into the side of his head, sending him falling sideways before he could stand up from searching, the kid landing on his stomach. He turned himself over slowly, his eyes widened slightly with alarm at what she done, but more so because of how much force had been behind the attack.

"Wh-why?" he questions. The girl chose not to respond immediately. Instead of answer him, she moved closer, swinging a leg over top of him, coming almost to a sit at his waistline. Her fingers still curled up tightly, she drew back her arm and took a swing at his jaw. As this blow connected, she continued on, punching over and over until his face was blooded and bruised to the point of being unrecognizable. Despite the fact that they were roughly the same size, he was left in tears from how much pain she had caused him. "Who are you? Why are you doing this to me?"

Both very good questions. She allowed herself to sit back, nearly sitting on his legs as she thought of the appropriate answers. "You are getting...exactly what you deserve. You hit me, and then you can't even doing anything to make amends. This is what happens to mean people." As she said this to him, the girl turned, grabbing the loosened seat and pulling it free from the broken mass of metal. As she set the bottom end of the seating bar gently on his chest, using her right hand to hold it in place, the name finally came to her.

"Oh, and I'm Lynness." the demoness responded with a cheerful smile, delight evident in her tone now as she began pressing against the seat with both hands, using every ounce of her strength. At first, the only sounds were those of popping and cracking, accompanied by tormented screams. As the seconds passed, though, and the bar sunk just a little deeper, there came a loud snap and the metal pierced into his chest, a squishing sound coming up from the lethal wound. The boy was immediately silenced, left gasping for breath as his blood pulled into the depression formed in his chest from broken and dislocated bones. After a moment, his struggle to hold on to life ended, any movement ceasing as his muscles relaxed beneath her. Lynness leaned forward as he ceased to be among the living, gazing at the boy's lifeless face, his expression one of frozen agony.

She noticed a bit of a shimmer in his dulled eyes for just a second, before a thick black smoke began to drift from his mouth, as though his insides were burning away. The smoke began to float about the demoness' form for a moment, during which time she saw a ghastly face-like shape in it; before she could wonder about it any, the dark fog vanished, leaving her sitting atop her first victim. She couldn't help but smile happily; something about that cruel act she'd just committed felt entirely natural. She began looking about, wondering if anyone had been around to witness his murder, but nobody was in sight.

She would have walked away immediately, but she noticed something; this boy had shoes on his feet. She looked at them longingly, but they were too large to fit on her own feet. Just as disappointment would have ruined her pleasant mood, a pale blue something caught her eyes. A pair of flip flops sat next to the nearly emptied back, next to all the other useless junk he'd been towing around. The girl pushed off of the poor kid's corpse, sitting in the grass and grabbing the sandals. She slid them on; it was almost a perfect fit, and she was left smiling with even more joy than she had been as she stood.

The last thing Lynness chose to do before leaving the scene was to wipe the blood from her hands, cleaning them off on the boy's cargo shorts. Without a second thought, the girl began walking again, definitely in a better mood overall than she had been.

"I can't even remember why I was unhappy." Lynness remarked to herself in an upbeat tone before beginning to hum again.

Micah stood side by side with the various workers, laboring to assemble the rather large ferris wheel they had managed to purchase during the course of their journey. It was an arduous task, but after a short time, they managed to have the ride set up entirely, some other workers coming in to set up the power supply to the structure. The main ferris wheel was easily the largest ride they brought, with an couple of smaller wheel and a variety of other rides for mostly the younger crowd to enjoy. The most difficult job finished, the task master of the group wiped the sweat from his brow, taking a moment to walk about the fairgrounds and see how things were coming along. Slowly but steadily, the attractions were rising from the ground up, ready to pull in large groups of people. It was a real treat to watch such seasoned performers and operators being able to set up shop so quickly, but with how long they had been traveling together, most of them knew the routine and completed their preparations quickly and efficiently.

Micah was preparing to sit himself on one of the tables set up in the center of the carnival, ready to grab something to eat from the lunch so quickly cooked up by the concessionaires in anticipation of the first evening, when perhaps one of the most interesting attractions of the whole carnival approached. The twins had always been a bit of a handful, but there was little doubt that they were able to bring in the customers, and sometimes were the sole reason some of them stayed with the group.

"Micah!" Emilyn practically shouted, her fingers interlaced in front of her in a mock-begging position. "We want to go out on the town!"

"Yeah." her sister Madelyn chimed up, her arms wrapping around her sister and her head coming to rest on her shoulder. "We want to go check out the cute booyyys!"

"And go buy some stuff."

"Like makeup."

"And outfits."

"And cigarettes."

"And gasoline..."

Micah shook his head, a slight grin on his face as he laughed slightly, before looking back up at the often mischievous duo. "We still have to finish setting up most of the carnival before night comes on. And it wouldn't surprise me in the least if you girls haven't even set up your area yet..."

"We have!"

"Promise!"

"Alright, I suppose it would be alright for you girls to go enjoy yourselves for the afternoon. I certainly don't want the two most beautiful women in the world to feel bored when they could go out on the town and have some fun. Just make sure that while you're out, you draw some attention to yourselves, and mention that you're part of the carnival. Even with the fliers in town, there are some people that need a little bit more...persuading."

The twins smiled and nodded, both rushing forward and giving the man a peck on the cheek before sprinting off toward their own personal trailer, sitting unhitched from a rather large truck. A quick change of clothes was in order before they set off for the town. Comfortable, matching black tank tops, jean shorts, and sandals would guarantee that even with the fact that their outfits were public-appropriate, they would still grab some attention; with their natural good looks, the light brown hair and hazel eyes, it would be hard not to catch the interest of at least a few of the guys.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Just as the twins were pulling away, Micah took a few steps past the trailer, noticing the tent laying flat on the ground, the central stage and seating set up in a rough ring around the yet to be constructed attraction. He couldn't help but shake his head, a small smile on his face.

"Well, as useful and as pleasant as they are to have around, they certainly can be deceitful..."

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

"So, what should we do first?" Madelyn asked her sister as the truck reached one of the main city streets. The girl parked her vehicle in some random lot in town, the girls walking out and beginning to peer into the windows.

"I don't...uh..." Emilyn turned her head away from her twin, coughing into her right hand. Hints of blue flame licked at the edges of her fingers and hand before extinguishing. "I think I might be catching a cold. But anyways...I'm hungry. I think we should go out to eat; after all, there's bound to be some nice restaurants in such a fancy place."

"That's a great idea! Let's find one. Maybe we can find somebody to come with us."

Patrick continued down the streets of the City, trying to find at least one thing to entertain them until that Carnival opened up. He and his sister passed a majority of shops and fast food hot spots with them shaking "no" at each building as they didn't care for. Shania was getting antsy and soon decided that they should play tag. Without letting Patrick know, Shania accelerated on the Hoverboard to about half its full speed and slapped Patrick on the back as she passed him up.

"TAG YOUR IT!"

Shania took off to the sky, knowing that Patrick would be close behind her from the start. Well she was right, Patrick was first startled by the slap but after seeinh her take flight, he understood why. Patrick smiled as he pushed enough energy through he feet to rocket himself towards his sister. As he honed in on her, Patrick had to remember that her board will not save her if he knocked her off as her board was the same one he broke with his head after Jeff tried to recall it back to him that fateful day. Shania saw Patrick drawing closer to her, so she sped up more to make sure he couldn't touch her.

"C'mon bro, you're too slow"

Patrick smiled as he warping in front of her. Shania's eyes widened as her expression showed the look of "Oh shit!" written in her eyes. By the time she was able to veer away from him to escape being it, Patrick tagged her shoulder then warped a fair distance away from her.

"C'mon Nia, 'you're too slow'" Patrick taunted.

Patrick didn't care if people thought their little game was stupid or not, it was entertaining to them both and that's all that truly mattered. A Large object had caught Patrick's and Shania's eyes during their game of tag. A Huge Ferris Wheel towered over the distance. They had stopped in the midst of their game to watch the workers set up the Carnival one building at a time.

"They must have a lot of workers if they can raise their stuff up that quick, I mean we got here around the same time they did."

"When do you think they'll be done around Pat?"

"That I couldn't answer Nia, because I donno how much stuff they have or how big this Carnival will be."

While Patrick was distracted by the people working, his sister quickly tagged him and they resumed their game just to help time fly by.
"I'm Bad, but that's good. I'm not good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me"

Javon had decided to take the slower route through the city, having decided that he wanted to keep some manner of excercise routine going to keep his body nice and fit on the off chance that something life-threatening interesting occurs and he needs to make effective use of his legs. Still, the carnival was a fair distance away and unless he was mistaken, down a fair bit, meaning that he'd have to use something to get the rest of the way there. Good thing he's a magus, eh?

Still, that was something to worry about later in the day. For now, he'd keep an eye out for anything that sparked his interest as he moved through the central streets of the city.

Shops, malls, restraunts, bookstores, all of it was being memorized and filed away for later on the off chance he actually needed to go to any of those locations for something or another. Dull, perhaps, but necessary.

He happened to spot the two girls walking the streets and couldn't really help but look since the magus is male, yet felt no particular desire to go over to talk to them. Perhaps it was because he had no sense of adventu- Hah, yeah right. Odds are much better that he simply didn't want to talk to two seemingly random people on the street since he's not the sort of guy who goes around hitting on girls for no reason.

His self-imposed session of goofing off drove him to seek out new, fantastic creatures and weapons to learn how to copy and weild against foes. Given his illusion magic he would be able to make use of most of anything he could find to fight his opponents with greater effectiveness.

Ethaniel should have paid attention when he hopped in the cab. He really should have, otherwise he wouldn't be in some random part of the city surrounded by sopping centers, people and one irritating psycho bitch.

To top it off, there were two show offs zipping around in the air being loud and annoying and-

"Oooo, look at those jewels!"

Marianne brought him back to reality as she longed at the jewels that she would have made Ethaniel pay for if he wasn't stingy as hell. "I thought we were going to the carnival..."

"Oh we will, they need more time to set up. Besides letting other people go in first will let us judge which attractions we should spend money on." Marianne hummed as she practically dragged Ethaniel off to do more window shopping.

Ethaniel could only groan in resentment at this, hoping to get the chance to strangle the woman one day. "You're way too immature. I be tyou got spoiled as a kid or something."

"Well duh, my big brother always doted on me so it's weird not being pampered by legions of boy toys."

"..." He was hoping that she was kidding. He really REALLY hoped that she was kidding. No seriously, the bitch HAS to be aware of the fact that she's over twenty. She HAS to. Please Lord le-

"I'm hungry, let's find a place to eat." And so she dragged him off in another direction through the disorienting crowd of people that were either on lunch break or didn't have a job.

He felt the sensation of being freed from the crowd as Marianne scanned the area for a good restaurant. He pulled his arm away from his companion before shoving both hands into his pockets. Just as he thought that today would be somewhat normal....

"See those girls over there?"

He looked to where she pointed, and indeed there was stood two young women that looked exactly the same. "The twins? Yeah what of them?" When he faced Marianne to determine her answer she was looking at him with mischeivious eyes. "...God damn you."

Like that he was being whisked away towards the young ladies. He only gave a sigh at the turn of events. It was like she was always horny or something. Well...it couldn't possibly be the worst thing that she's ever forced him to do.

In moments Marianne had Ethaniel standing next to her in front of the twins she spotted. "Hello ladies, I was wondering if you were enw in town because Ethaniel and I are in a partying mood."

Ethaniel immideantly gave a sour expression. "No, you're horny and I'm pissed off. There will be no partying in my vicinety." He gave a forceful shrug to "put his foot down" as it were.

This did not deter Marianne. At all.

She gave a pout before skipping over to the twins. "You see what I have to deal with? Rude AND boring, such a horrible combination. I say we make him have fun to see what he's missing by laying around his apartment like a drunkard all day."

He sagged his shoulders slightly, hoping the young ladies would know better than to partner up with a maniac liek Marianne.

Alternitivley, he could have ran away, but he didn't think about it. Too bad~

"I'm starting to think that old man was exaggerating," Sooku mutterred, expectantly watching New Alastia's hustle and bustle as he strolled along the sidewalk. "This is no more a city of superhumans than anywhere else I've been. Not much adventuring to be had at all. Hell, I don't even know if I can make any money here doing vigilante work."

He stopped dead in his tracks. "Money..." he murmured, aiming his robotic arm skyward and firing a wallet about 10 feet into the air. He extended his metal hand just in time for the wallet to fall into his palm. Flipping the wallet proved fruitless, save for a bit of loose change clattering to the pavement below. As if to further exemplify the nature of his situation, Sooku's stomach took that opportunity to loudly growl.

"Man, I guess I spent the last of it on my way here," he sighed, retracting his robotic hand and tossing his wallet back into his buster. "Looks like I can get a cheap meal, but that circus is outta the question for now."

He scooped up the change and continued on, eventually coming to what looked like a rather pleasant sandwich shop. He was about to enter when something caught his eye; three rather attractive ladies talking with what looked to be some sort of fish- no, some sort of shark man.

"Maybe this place does have some potential after all," he grinned, pulling open the shop's door and stepping inside.

((First of all, you guys don't need to wait on me, you're more than free to interact with each other if you would happen to come across one another, just as long as literally EVERYONE isn't in one big group.))

((Well as someone decided Patrick was flying overhead, although it sounded to me more like he would be nearer the edge of the city, that just leaves me and Warlock to prevent this from happening:V
Guess I'll just have to avoid all of you :P

Deploying pointless exposition post!))

Robert wandered slowly through the streets, his mind on other things. A GPS map blinked in one corner of his augmented vision, and his feet must have been following it automatically because he certainly wasn't paying attention to where he was going. It was fortunate that the GPS had picked a route steering him away from the busy central mall with its shops and restraunts and had led him through a much less densely populated area, but a few people still glared at him as they were forced to duck out of his way.

He was still pondering who it could have been that left the flyer on his doorstep. It was strange, he did have the strange feeling of being watched recently, but had no idea who could possibly be interested in him. They obviously wanted him to visit this carnival, well he had no objections to that and possibly would have gone anyway, but he could think of no possible motive. Perhaps it was simply a meeting point?
But then again he couldn't really think of any reason anyone would need to meet him in secret either. He was a fireman, not a superhero. He didn't have a nemesis or go on grand adventures, such as the ones in the tales his friend Metal Chao often told. He was a little dubious himself and took the chao's boasting with a pinch of salt, he truly doubted the tiny being had ever actually fought dinosaurs on a space station, fought off evil extradimensional clones or piloted his own flying island to lead a robot army in battle. He wasn't even that good at running a shop!
It really was a mystery...

Up above his head, Stitches hopped easily from roof to roof, a black and white blur spinning and bouncing across the concrete.
He could have left Robert behind easily and made his way to the carnival on his own, but as it wasn't due to start for some time he thought he might as well keep an eye on the other man he had directed there.
Stitches had been tailing Robert on his mistress's orders for some time now, when he had time to spare from his main objective. As he was basically casing the joint, finding out what kind of people lived in this city, what the ratio of humans to mutants was and how dangerous the latter were, it wasn't too difficult to perform both of his tasks at once.
Now his mission was almost complete and he'd be returning home before the big event, he wanted to make sure he tied up all of the loose ends.
It would be silly to have invested all of this time and then have Robert fall to a mugger in some back alley.
Stitches almost hoped he'd have the opportunity to prevent this. He wasn't incredibly bloodthirsty by the standards of most superhumans, but his species had been bred for battle and it had been quite a long time since he'd stretched his claws, especially as his higher status generally kept him away from the front lines. Then again, as the mission neared its end, there would surely be plenty of time for that soon enough...

((Nothing written out at the actual carnival this post, but that's alright.))

Emilyn and Madelyn found themselves in a bit of a bind; apparently the place they'd chosen to park within the city was the very same place that all the nice restaurants just so happen to not be located, meaning that they'd either have to get back in the truck and drive around looking for what they wanted, or settle for the cheaper option. Even on as tight of a budget as one was while working for a Carnival, the girls hated eating fast food, but from the way things were looking, it might be the only option available to them that wouldn't cost them anymore time. Just as they were about to decide what the best course of action would be, they found themselves being approached by an odd pairing; a rather tall young lady, followed by an anthropomorphic shark.

"Hello ladies," the woman began. "I was wondering if you were new in town because Ethaniel and I are in a partying mood." The girls found it odd that she would approach them about such things without either introducing herself or asking their names in return. However, before they could think to answer, the shark made it clear that he wasn't having the same thoughts as his friend.

"No, you're horny and I'm pissed off. There will be no partying in my vicinity."

His friend merely decided that ignoring him was the best idea for the moment, and practically came skipping as she approached the two. "You see what I have to deal with? Rude AND boring, such a horrible combination. I say we make him have fun to see what he's missing by laying around his apartment like a drunkard all day."

Emilyn and Madelyn couldn't help but to glance at each other after hearing what this lady had to say, before turning back to look at her with matching cheerful smiles.

"Wow, you're so tall!" Madelyn couldn't help but exclaim aloud. "And your hair is so long and pretty and black."

"Certainly beautiful, that's what you are." Emilyn added, stepping forward. "I'm Emilyn, and this is my twin sister Madelyn. And...to answer your question, we're not so much new in town as just visiting."

"We're part of that carnival!" Madelyn stated, stepping up beside her sister. "They should be done setting up fairly soon, but we're taking a bit of a break to enjoy ourselves. We've gotta go shopping for makeup, and outfits, and cigarettes."

"And lots of gasoline. We're part of the main attraction, and we like to put on a show for all the people that come out to see us. We definitely don't like to disappoint...." The young lady paused for a moment, a slight frown on her face before she brightened up again. "Oh my gosh, where are my manners? Here we are, rattling on about ourselves and acting silly, and we've barely let you say anything. We caught your friend's name-"

"He's a cutie. So big and strong looking..." Madelyn said, staring in awe at Ethaniel.

"It was Ethaniel, right? But what is your name...? Oh, I know! You guys should come with us to lunch. We were just looking for a nice place to go and eat, but it seems we're in the wrong part of town for fancy food. But, with you guys to keep us company, any place is a good place."

The city was by now clearly the most visible thing in the sky, the largest of the buildings looming almost menacingly over the landscape, and Lynness hadn't felt any form of discomfort after dealing with that boy a few miles back. At this rate, she expected that she'd make it into the city itself within the hour, barring any sort of distractions to slow her down. She found herself wondering how she'd come as far as she did while walking around barefoot; the sandals she'd taken were so much more comfortable on the soles of her feet than cold grass or rough asphalt. The girl hadn't come across anyone else yet, on foot or via vehicle, and she could only assume that whatever path she was on didn't see much traffic anyways.

Mid-step, the demoness found herself freezing in place, an intense discomfort overtaking her body along a heavy ache at the sides of her head. She doubled over, feeling light-headed, her vision blurring slightly as the pain only increased in severity. Her fingers ran up to touch the areas that were causing her such trouble, feeling the areas were raised. In another wave of agony, she felt two bony tips protrude from the sides of her head, angled outward. At this point, the girl felt entirely ill from the whole process, wishing that she could just pass out and not have to deal with it. Just as quickly as it had begun, though, her horns burst forth reformed in one final flash of pain. Instead of moving immediately, she merely stayed in that position on her hands and knees for a moment, shaking slightly, breathing heavily, her eyes tearing up just a bit.

Just as she was about to push herself off of the ground and continue on her way again, another wave of intense pain overtook her, forcing her to collapse entirely onto the ground before she was really aware of what was happening. This time, though, the points causing her agony came from just beneath her shoulder blades, two points that her her entire upper body feeling as if it were on fire. Her fingers curled tightly, gripping the grass in front of her as she felt her wings stabbing through her flesh, the ends breaking free and jutting outward suddenly, the rest of the wings scraping away at her musculature and pre-existing bones. One by one the finger-like extensions and the and interspersed wing membranes popped from the freshly opened area, adding to the overall size of her second set of appendages until her wings were entirely reformed, leaving the girl to lay on the ground, drenched in sweat and crying.

((My people are somwhere in this clusterfuck, I'll be using Jack Vivendi and Key.))

There hadn't really been anything leading up to Jack's day at the carnival. No weeks of boredom, no rumors of treasure, no nagging friends. It was just what Jack liked to do. He had, in fact, purchased the tickets he was using the day before at a carnival in another town.
He had nothing better to do, really. Which isn't to say he didn't enjoy himself at the carnival- quite the opposite. He had been touring the country for a while, following these roaming carnivals as they traveled.
He had also hoped for a run in with his old friend Key, who claimed to be living in the area. For now, though, caught in the sensory trap of a miniature world dedicated to amusement, Jack's mind couldn't care less about finding red haired time travelers.
..but it wasn't focused on what one might expect, either. One couldn't ignore the fact that doing little more than follow carnivals around the country involved nearly no income, short of any coins found on the ground.

By now, having been at every stop for the carnival in its past year, Jack had befriended a few security officers and was well liked among the custodial staff for the free food he gave out.
He didn't always give it out, though. Now, finding his way to the back of a ride, Jack sat down in the shelter one of the ride operators had offered him a while back and set out a small metal tripod. Atop that he placed an ordinary looking black frying pan. Setting a burlap sack beside him, Jack flipped a small sign over.

"Vivendi Beef: Cheapest meat on the market- $3 a pound"

Now he just had to wait for some customers. Enjoying the surrounding hustle and bustle, Jack turned his gaze to the myriad sights.
Particularly interesting was a very well made shark costume. and someone very tall nearby. Maybe she had a big appetite...
Jack was forced back to the now, however, as a few ride operators walked up and asked for some meat.

((Will introduce Key in a later post.))
