So, I got into an accident. Not a car accident, but a bathroom accident. At around 3:30 in the morning yesterday, I got up and felt rather sick. I thought it was from the Reach launch party since I won the most candy, so I got up and went for the bathroom in case something did come up, so to speak. But of course, what always need to happen when one gets up in the middle of the night? Yeah, I had to pee. Also, I was just getting over a cold as well. So, I go to the bathroom to take a piss. Once I do, the next thing I'm doing is picking myself up from beside the toilet, soaked on my left side and feeling like I just took a blow to the head. I find the left side of my face has blood on it, but couldn't pause to fathom it as I needed to throw up big time. After this chaos, I go back to bed, feeling very shaky. By this time, it was nearly 4:00 am. I get up to go to the clinic on campus and after some observation, they determined that I had a small attack of vasovagal syncope, meaning I fainted because the blood wasn't getting to my head. All the problems I felt before I fainted were factors that caused it to happen, as a natural response to nausea in the neck is a dilation of the blood vessels in the neck. The big problem however wasn't that, but what happened when I fell. I was out for 10 minutes, so the doctors presume, and when I fell, I hit the side of my face against either the toilet or the paper dispenser, causing the gash and the bleeding. Worse still, they claim I hit it pretty hard, as they told me that the dizziness and shakiness I was feeling was the result of blunt cranial trauma. So yeah, I got a concussion. Yesterday sucked for the most part, as my head hurt and dizzy spells having several times an hour, but I slowly recovered under observation. Today, right now, I'm just fighting a lot of lightheadedness, but I'm recovering. So, yeah, first time I ever had a concussion. Not a fun experience as I couldn't think coherently for a while. Thankfully, it was just a mild one. |

Jeez man, it's like all the weird stuff happens to you. How the hell did you manage to have a vasovagal syncope in the first place, were you sleeping upsidedown or something? On that note, was the gash big enough to get stitches? In any case, glad to hear you're okay. D: |

Nah, it was shallow, so no stitches were needed. Good thing to since the laceration is only a quarter inch from my bottom eyelash. And they think it's because I was already a little light-headed as a side effect of my epilepsy meds, plus recovering from a cold and nausea (which the body sometimes dilates the flow of the blood in the neck) don't really help either. EDIT: Well, I turned my bathroom into a crime scene so I could find where I hit exactly when I fell, because of a new clue. I also discovered a welt on the right side of my head, where I hit the floor. I replayed the scenario to the best of my knowledge. When I lifted the toilet seat, I found traces of blood on the edge of it, also a small crack along the edge of it, possibly from the impact. So yeah, when I fell, I smacked into the toilet seat with my face, ricocheted off and hit the floor with a bang on the right side of my head. Either blow could have caused the concussion, but man, it was a close scare. The toilet seat narrowly missed my eye by a half-inch, judging by the lacerations and bruises on my face. Ouch. |

Yeah, concussions suck. I received one while snowboarding once after colliding with some guy on skis. |
