Spider-Man Reboot; Some details inside

So, as some of you may or may not know, Spiderman is starting all over again. Originally going to be set in high-school, it is now going to be set in college (because the new actor is 27.) The film will be in 3D with a plan to be released July 3, 2012. The Peter Parker taking over is Andrew Garfield, a British actor that more or less looks like a British Tobey Maguire. Now, personally I was not liking the idea of the reboot but numerous things are to be considered;

One, it can't be worse than Spiderman a 4 and 5 (and possibly 6.)

Two, there's been comparisons of the script to Nolan's reinvention of Batman in Batman Begins. Rumors are that the reboot is based off Ultimate Spiderman.

Also there's a now debunked rumor that Christopher Waltz was going to play the villan of the film. However, I'm going to sit here and hope that I'm misreading and there is still a possibility of his involvement. So, I don't know what to think. Guess I'll have to wait for some footage before I can really make any judgment. I'm afraid I do have some negative preconceptions though.
Good Game

Hex: Yes, you've read the book, you've seen the film - now avoid the game like the plague lest your memory of Harry Potter's epic conclusion be tainted by what can only be described as a short, half-arsed cover-shooter that's boring beyond belief.

Bajo: ...It's shit.

I never liked this idea to begin with, and until Marvel manages to buy back Spider-Man and add it into it's Movieverse Canon, then I don't have much hope for it. Raimi's Spider-Man was brilliant, and it only went downhill because Sony forced his hand and made a sloppy job out of 3. Raimi hated Venom, he didn't want him in the movie and was pretty much just forced to lump him in, which pretty much detracted from the experience. The fact that they gave him a ridiculously low deadline to do the fourth movie was, in my opinion a legitimate reason for him to quit.

A new Spider-Man based off of the Ultimate universe...sounds like a recipe for disaster. While I don't flat out hate the Ultimate universe, I dislike it greatly. Yes, it's a reimagining, and I love bringing classic pop culture icons into the present but...it's just loaded with teen angst, drama and unnecessary and irrelevant plot. People hated all of this about the last movie, how are they going to accept it for the new one? I have heard the script will focus on all this, and there'll be less action. Sounds like it's going to be even more of a snoozefest than X-Men 1 and 2.

While we're on the subject, I'm not familiar with Christopher Waltz.

That's fair. I didn't really think about it like that but again, I'm holding judgment until I see something.

Oh, the dude from Basterds! Awesome...ooh he's going to be in Green Hornet and The Three Musketeers. *off topic*

I wonder which villain he'd play in a Spider-Man movie...He really could be anyone.

The Green Hornet? With Seth Rogan? *shudders*

I'm not really certain if having another film Spider-Man is going to be any better than the old ones. On a tangent, how is the Ultimate version different from the normal one? I'm not really familiar with the Ultimate canon (aside from the fact that it's critically reviewed and generally disliked amongst most readers, which makes me wonder in the first place why they would even bother with the canon.)

On another tangent, I vote Miguel O'Hara for the Spider-Man canon they should focus on =D

Haha, if only.

Like I said above, the Ultimates Universe is essentially a modern day retelling of pretty much the majority of the classic superhero stories. As an example, Peter Parker is a web designer for the Daily Bugle, as opposed to a photographer.

Most comic fans dislike the Ultimates Universe because they can't handle the alterations to the characters' canon. Me personally, I dislike the writing because, again, like I outlined above, the majority of the Ultimates stories, especially Spider-Man are just built around angst and drama.

I'm pretty sure he's been one of those throughout the entire series. Posted Image

This topic needs an update. So anyone who frequents the awesome thread has already seen Havoc post the new suit design. This article has more details, as well as a stunt video.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

It was pretty hard to tell what was going on and, as a teaser, it didn't really give me much incentive to stay interested. I don't think it can compete with the first movie's teaser, you know, the one that had him trapping a helicopter full of high tech bankrobbers in a web between the twin towers. I also felt that they were trying to oversell with the first person parkour.

Ah well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
