The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PS3) I still can't fucking stand the enemies in this game and how the game seems to scale up as you progress so literally everything is still as strong as you at all times. Or stronger than you. Didn't pretty muc everyone who played Oblivion hate that system? Why the hell has no one complained about it this time? But for all my complaining, it's pretty much the only RPG that's built on the kind of scale that I've been wanting, so it must be doing something right if I'm fighting off the urge to suffer once a week. I'll probably ragequit it by the time i get to the giant spider, though. |

For what it's worth, Skyrim at least handled it better than Oblivion - while it does spawn in tougher enemies at higher levels, it still leaves in the standard ones that you can deck in a single hit by then. In Oblivion, literally everything scaled with you and there was absolutely no respite whatsoever. Draugr Deathlords are still a pain for stealth characters, though. At least until you learn that a dual wielded power attack with daggers still counts as a sneak attack, and that almost nothing can survive three consecutive 16x critical hits in a row as long as they stand still long enough. |

Destiny (PS4) Tested out the PS4 <-> PS Vita remote play capabilities. Aside from ocassional lag that was absolutely horrid (and that's either because I was too far away or my network can't stream locally fast enough) it actually works pretty damn well. And is just hella fun to boot. Now I'm gonna play Danganronpa 2 a bit more and then go to bed. |

Loaded up Skyrim and managed to stumble (rather stupidly, mind you) on to the knowledge that, equipping the Flames spell every now and then makes killing things a hell of a lot easier. AKA I didn't die fifty times trying to kill the wounded Frostbite Spider in Bleak Falls Barrow this time. And all the Draugr. Burned 'em all. I have way too many items favourited right now. Also, does Skyrim game just keep everything loaded forever? I've noticed the the filesize of my game save increase occasionally when I went to save the game manually and I somewhat recall someone on the Internet complain about how Bethesda put in some stupid ideas with things that are loaded into the game world (item drops, etc.) staying loaded forever and NPCs having a definitive limit on how much gold they have. Seriously, though, I do vaguely recall one person once saying that it became near impossible to play their save file because the filesize got so huge due to dropped items that it would take hours to actually load, or not even load at all (I think I read that on TVTropes, actually) Edited by Luffy Foxtrot, Sep 25 2014, 09:07 PM.

Yerp, that's save game bloat. I'm not a PCfag, but I think it's probably not worth doing a lengthy Skyrim playthrough on anything other than a PC where you can easily fix its messy shit. Though if you don't plan to play for thousands of hours, it should be fine. |

I had to switch from the PC version to the PS3 version, it actually ran better than my 4 year old laptop, and it was always heating up too much. Brothers (PS3) Puzzle game that requires you to control 2 people. Pretty great... and pretty sad. Edited by Havoc the Tenrec, Sep 27 2014, 11:33 AM.

I should be getting an upgraded PC by the end of the year (depends on circumstances) so I might be tempted to get the game on PC. But since the game is now on my PlayStation Trophy List, I won't be happy until I've gotten all the trophies. Same goes for the 360 version. But now I'm gonna go play some Wind Waker HD while I watch my mum play Destiny. |

Brothers was my GOTY for 2013. The last like, 5-10 minutes of that game is one of the most brilliant and transcendental experiences I've ever had playing a game. Destiny (PS4) I'm post level 20 now. I'm starting to enjoy the game a little more. It's more about taking the game in bits and pieces rather than long stretches of time I suppose. It's a nice little thing to come back to every now and then, but definitely not something that would dominate *all* of my game time. |

Among the Sleep: Mac It's not all that scary until later, sorta. The bear keeps saying to keep quite, but there's no reason to. I was also messing with the blocks. Baby's first word.

Couple of nights ago, it was 3 am, couldn't sleep. Decided to do the intelligent thing and play ZombiU. NOPENOPENOPENOPENOPE Well, to be fair, it isn't scary more than it is downright challenging. I've restarted the game twice and am on my third try now because the subsequent attempts had me dying for really stupid reasons. I don't get why there's a health bar system if a zombie can kill you in one hit if they lunge at you. I also wish they gave you the option of reloading a save or starting with a new survivor; it would've made this immensely more fun if I had to choose between reloading a save I made 3 hours ago and keep all my shit but go through a ton of crap again, possibly getting weaker loot this time around, or go with a new guy and essentially start in the same place, but kill the old me to get my shit back and soldier on. About to invade Buckingham Palace as I'm in the underground area now. I'd kill for a manhole in the area so I can go back and dump some of my shit to make room for more. Aiming to try and get all those newspaper clippings and diary entries, as well as every single weapon upgrade. |

Grand Theft Auto V (PS3) I swear at least one person in this online room has managed to hack the game to make him invincible to fucking everything. I shot him three times with a sniper rifle and he took no damage at all. Now I'm spectating on him through the apartment TV and just as I did, he was ran over by a Rhino three times and blown up when said Rhino exploded... and still came out unscathed. So either he's actually managed to hack a console game to cheat, or he's stumbled on a glitch that completely negates all damage. And no, he's not on passive, as he's been able to use weapons and shoot others. Fucking bullshit. Probably should report him, but I don't know whether he should be reported for "exploits" or "game bug exploits." Edited by Luffy Foxtrot, Sep 30 2014, 08:52 PM.

You actually get lunged less frequently if your health is higher. If it's full, they don't do that shit at all. Of course, the game doesn't tell you this, so I can understand getting a little frustrated about it. If you're relying mostly on the bat, my advice is actually to shove first if you're not sure you'll get the first hit in (and the first hit is all that matters really, because even despite fatigue you'll still stunlock a single zombie if you mash the attack button) and never to take on more than one at a time if you can help it - whip out your guns in groups and headshot the tougher ones, and use the bat to bash the last straggler to death. Spoiler: click to toggle Also I'll just say it now because it's usually too late by the time most people find out - don't use land mines unless you're ABSOLUTELY SURE of a horde appearing and where it will appear from, and NEVER use them if you're being chased. Either you'll risk blocking off a potential means of escape (and escape plans are pretty fucking important in this game) and have to waste ammo destroying them, or they'll almost instantly blow up in your face and instakill you because they don't have an activation delay and can even be triggered THROUGH WALLS for some stupid reason. Save your BOB space for molotovs and grenades instead. Edited by Blacklightning, Oct 1 2014, 03:48 AM.
