I want to play FF6, but the English version I found on a downloaded snes rom is poorly translated... and the PS1 translation seems a little better based on what I'm seeing on youtube. But if I get the PSN version, I actually have to pay, and it's $10. The fastest way to get through it to save time and money would be to just watch the entire walkthrough minus battles, but that sounds weird.

I bought MGS Revengence for PS3 for $15 from Amazon... hasn't come yet. I love it when the games I really wanted to get become so cheap after 1 year. But knowing my luck, it'll be free on PSN+ by the time it gets here.

If you're hard pressed for cash, you could always download the GBA ROM as that's essentially the PS1 version BUT WITH EVEN MORE SHIT (as I recall)!

I'm not really interested in more shit though, I just want to experience the story so I can figure out why people actually say it's better than FF7... which it couldn't be. You don't see FF6 sequels, spinoffs, and movies. Jus' sayin.

And those things are precisely why 7 went from being a pretty good game to utter shit. Everything that came before it was already better anyway. If you have bad luck with 6, try 4 instead.

But awesome things don't get worse over time :o I've tried 4 and it was meh, I got stuck at the last boss because I wasn't powerful enough or something, and just watched the rest on youtube. I guess I'll try 6 when I finish all the other games I started.

But awesome things
I wouldn't really call 7 awesome by any stretch, it was kind of a convoluted mess, both in the plot department and with regards to gameplay. It's only so overhyped because of where it stands as being the first 3D Final Fantasy and all the other jazz that came with the territory. On its own, it's an incredibly mediocre game, especially in comparison with 4, 6 and 9. The extended media didn't help at all, they just made the plot more ridiculous, retconned the shit out of everything and whored it out so much that anyone who might've liked it probably doesn't anymore (case in point: yours truly). They really just sucked the fun right out of it.

On that note, I just realised something; the reason the ROM you found had a shitty translation was probably because you were looking for Final Fantasy 6 on the SNES. In the West, 6 was released as 3, so any ROM you find of 6 where the actual game says 6 on the title screen is a fan translation. What you really want to look for is a ROM for FF3 on the SNES.

Also, you couldn't beat Zeromus? I dunno, mang, he was pretty weasy if you levelled up efficiently and got some good gear.

Any game that could make the audience cry is a pretty amazing feat imo. The characters themselves are so uniquely stylized in game and outside. The music was extremely beautiful. I don't see anything wrong with the story, unless you look at anything that came after it. The gameplay I thought was pretty fun, especially the mini games... not so much the running around but it's better than getting lost in those old school type of levels. I get tired of the generic top down 2D sprites, and this Resident Evil approach to everything made it feel like a mix of next gen and something so uniquely stylized in between that you don't see in any other game ever made.

I was actually pretty strong at the end of FF4, and the 2nd or 3rd form of him kept kicking my ass. I'll look for FF3 then.. I kept hearing that the 3rd was the worst... but I guess that's a different 3 or something.

I'm sure tales of how Aeris's death made people cry were greatly exaggerated and, if not, it probably does nothing to those same people today, years out of their adolescence. It's not a game that holds up well, I can tell you that much, replaying it doesn't give me the same sense of satisfaction I felt when I originally did, which is a stark contrast to the umpteen times I've gone through 4.

How? The game came out yesterday (June 3rd) on PSN and was cross-buy (PS4/Vita).
