I'm sure people know about the new Mortal Kombat on that thing that will not be named, but here's a new interview with Ed Boon and a nice trailer.

This game is probably the best fighting game being released anytime soon. I'm sorry but, nothing can top this, not MvC3 and not some new blahblah 3D fighter like SFvT.

On that note, nothing new here, but I am interested in what Boon said about this being a retelling of the first three games...which is weird because as far as I've heard, this is a sequel to the last game.

And that's two new characters revealed in the form of Cyrax and Kitana. This is also magnificent quality for just a cam upload.

I'm still loving how they continue to implement the nifty little perks from most mainstream fighting games into the MK universe. Custom intros, dialogue as well as the obvious change to the fighting system to be more streamline and flowing. The tag mode pretty much functions like everything else from Capcom's VS games, so no surprises using something that ain't broke.

Good god, I never get sick of seeing new X-Ray moves. >: D

How can you say that? I felt my neck being twisted and violated after what happened there XD!

Anyways, the only good about that video was it reminded people never to mess with a butcher. Kung Lao "forgot" his wallet in his other costume and couldn't pay Cyrax, look what happened to him.

Bwahaha, I'd like to think of it as two butchers fighting over the right kind of meat, considering Kun Lao's hat.

You're right! Add Mileena's teeth to the picture and we get three butchers-oh crap! Please tell me I didn't give you any "ideas".

Okay, this actually looks awesome. I may actually buy a Mortal Kombat game!

Good Game

Hex: Yes, you've read the book, you've seen the film - now avoid the game like the plague lest your memory of Harry Potter's epic conclusion be tainted by what can only be described as a short, half-arsed cover-shooter that's boring beyond belief.

Bajo: ...It's shit.

SpoonyOne interviews lead developers

We don't learn much here aside from the story:
Raiden finds himself nearly defeated at the hands of Shao Khan at the end of Armageddon, and there's very little he can do aside from cry like a baby or stick a quarter into the machine. So, like any awesome elder god, Raiden sends a psychic message to himself in the past, and with the knowledge that he sent himself he knows that the fate of the first three Mortal Kombat tournaments needs to be rewritten.

So, it's essentially a sequel to Armageddon while also acting as a retelling of the first three Mortal Kombat games. Weird way of doing things, but I kind of lost track of the MK storyline after the third one anyway so I suppose this isn't all that bad.

That...is probably the baddest ass MK story to date. Not only does it work as a sequel, but it functions as a prequel AND rebooting the series without rebooting it completely. This also helps undo the mess that was Armageddon, in that it got nowhere...plus Raiden was still an evil son of a bitch during that game.

So this game will actually be filling in the entire plot for three whole games...that's a lot of replay value if you ask me. I wonder if this'll also cover Shaolin Monks and events from Shujinko's story, which obviously plays a big part in some of the bullshit that's ravaged the MK universe (plot wise I mean).

Why the hell hasn't this topic been updated with content? Have you people SEEN the new shit?

And finally, the coup de grace:

Yes, that's right, Kratos is in the new Mortal Kombat. Best crossover since Link in Soul Calibur 2.

EDIT: Also, metal armed Jax confirmed, coupled with the subway stage from 3, which means this definitely WILL encompass the entirety of the first three games. This is also emphasised in Sub Zero's trailer above, which pretty much takes place at some point during MK2. By the end of that fight with Scorpion, he should receive his trademark scar, and Scorpion will walk away from the fight, making peace with the brother of his murderer.

Sup bitches, here's a pretty lengthy and detailed interview on various aspects of the new game:

Good points to note are that Jax IS confirmed along with the subway stage. Also, the game is still in development and the entire roster isn't set in stone yet, so there's plenty of time for the devs to add stuff in. Also, it appears the story will be one big cohesive campaign that takes you through the entire series from each character's point of view, which is pretty freakin' badass if you ask me. Finally, it appears MKvsDC was not canon.

On another note, pics of Sonya have been leaked as well:

The former apparently came from Netherealm themselves, while the latter is from a Russian magazine. Also, there are photos of renders of Ermac and Goro:

They're both part of one big pic.

The last thing to talk about is this game's release, and that it will be done in three editions:

Quote:

* The Standard Edition featuring the award-winning Mortal Kombat game.
* The Kollector’s Edition featuring the award-winning Mortal Kombat game, Sub-Zero and Scorpion figurines, a collectible art book, downloadable content that includes an exclusive Mortal Kombat Klassic costume skin and avatar costumes.
* The Tournament Edition featuring the award-winning Mortal Kombat game, a portable fight stick, and downloadable content that includes an exclusive Mortal Kombat Klassic costume skin and avatar costumes. The number of tournament editions is very limited with only 20,000 copies available in North America.

Players will be able to pre-order any of the above at North American retailers as of today. Specific pre-order programs include:

Gamestop: Customers who pre-order their copy of Mortal Kombat at Gamestop will get exclusive access to the Klassic Scorpion Playable Character Skin and the original Scorpion Fatality.

Best Buy: Customers who pre-order their copy of Mortal Kombat at Best Buy will get exclusive access to the Klassic Sub-Zero Playable Character Skin and the original Sub-Zero Fatality.

Amazon: Customers who pre-order their copy of Mortal Kombat on Amazon.com will get exclusive access to the Klassic Reptile Playable Character Skin and the original Reptile Fatality.

Also, as noted, Kratos will (obviously) be a PS3 exclusive.

Some more news. As mentioned in the video I linked above, Ed Boon will have plentiful DLC in the game, post release, especially of the character variety. According to this article He has posted on his Twitter the names of several characters, asking people the order of preference they would like them in, or whether they'd just want a new character altogether.

In other news, Goro and Jade have been confirmed from magazine scans. There is also mention of the possibility of a 360 exclusive character, I'm guessing to balance out the roster with PS3 owners. No word on Ermac yet though.

Oooh, some new ones there. Man, this is probably one of the best concepts in the game, and the best part was they essentially did this with their last entry into the NFL Blitz franchise. >:D
