You wouldn't see ADR at SAGE unless they had a playable build to release, for one thing. But I'll be perfectly frank - I haven't been in contact with Dek in ages over the simple fact that all the reasons I was ever interested in the project to begin with have essentially ceased to be, the main coder who was basically the only one who ever got anything done moved on to create Sonic GDK instead, and Dek himself has some kind of hand injury right now... and to be perfectly frank he's not a particularly talented level designer to begin with. There's some classic signs of Duke Nukem Forever syndrome going on, too - they've swapped engines at least three times, they constantly redesign entire stages and stage ladders from scratch instead of building on top of the material they've already created for sake of consistency, they've only just realized they're in way over their heads in terms of how much actual content they expected to make, and to be perfectly honest I don't think anyone even knows what they want or expect out of ADR anymore. I really hate to be a buzzkill over something I used to be the mouthpiece for, but for nearly any positive trait you could've attributed to ADR you're probably better off looking for some SonicGDK content instead. (also Before the Sequel is pretty fucking ace so you guys should get to playing that once you're done with Freedom Planet) Edited by Blacklightning, Aug 8 2012, 04:50 PM.

I'm going to counter your complement to Before the Sequel. It has some godsawful level and boss design, and the creator has directly admitted to me that only a small handful of the levels are what he'd consider good. Then there's the physics and collision issues it often has. Unless this shit's been dramatically updated since January, which LakeFeperd had stated he had no interest in.(besides him replacing character sprites) Edited by Ekoi, Aug 8 2012, 06:05 PM.

I actually picked up on this years ago, but I figured the team was dedicated enough to overcome that hurdle and get their shit together. Clearly that's not the case and, in all honesty, I don't really expect the game to come to fruition if what you're saying is what's happening. But it was very clear that the game's design process was becoming more and more convoluted; sure everything kept looking better as time went on, but the constant updates of "we threw in more shit and redid everything" really made it seem like it was going nowhere fast. They had nothing to show but a new build of the first level every time they made a new update, so yeah, sucks balls, but it was bound to happen. |

I was expecting BL to rage over the Bonus Edition when I caught wind of it while I was out of town, especially since fucking Metal Sonic is also an exclusive character. I have not been disappointed. FFS SEGA. |

I recognise the artstyle in the preview pic. Same guy did one of the Tails Doll endings for a Sonic Shorts, as well as a Tails Doll skit for the opening of one of the Summer of Sonic events. Marine was in both of those, hence the "Hey Marine!". SoS2012 ended months ago, so my money's on some kind of web series based on the shenanigans those two started - not that I would look forward to it, because they were quite frankly shit. Don't expect it to be anything official, in any case. |
