Another preview. Stuff that wasn't covered last source: - 27 characters in all. The original had 21, not counting exclusives and DLC. Though it's not mentioned here, it's worth noting that Segata Sanshiro has been teased as the final unlockable elsewhere. Game of the fucking decade.  - They'll all be unlocked via a story mode that is, quote, "inspired by games like Mario Galaxy". How a kart racer draws any comparison to a platforming game is anyone's guess. - All Star moves are no longer unlocked via item capsules - it has its own gauge to fill up, pretty sure it was by picking up stars on the track or something like that. Considering getting them was entirely luck based in the first place (which could result in Blue Shell syndrome if the racers somehow happened to be too close together), I'd say that's an improvement. - Individual characters can be levelled up with an XP system, and boosted with some kind of perk system. - Current weapon pickups are placeholders. Newer ones are said to be "ACME, Looney Tunes inspired". Homing missile is said to be a minature Sonic car with a stick of dynamite instead of a driver, which even transforms into boat or plane when required to. The SSMB thread is already 13 fucking pages, so there's the possibility that I haven't got everything yet. I'll keep looking. EDIT: S0L's answering questions in the SSMB thread, and considering he's essentially Sumo's PR man I'd say it's safe to consider it another source. So more confirmed shit: - Not all characters from ASR1 guaranteed to return. - All tracks are unique, which means we won't be seeing three Seaside Hills and shit like the first one did. - PC version confirmed. Fixed. SEGA/Sumo Digial dropped the "SEGA" part for this game. Which I still don't quite understand. Some others I know have theorised that it has to do with SEGA's losses as of late, so just having "Sonic" in there would potentially rack up more sales. That still doesn't really make sense, honestly.

Is it really that hard to understand that "Sonic All Stars Racing: Transformed" is less of a mouthful than "Sonic And Sega All Stars Racing With Banjo - Kazooie"? There's no ulterior motives here - it's just simple aesthetic sense.  This just made me realize that a land/air track featuring the motherfucking Seven Force would be absolutely godly to see. Nevermind having a playable Gunstar Red in the game. |

It's more along the lines that Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing sounds a lot more pleasing in my head, rather than Sonic & All-Stars Racing. Just my preference. I usually just call it Soinc Racing most of the time, so I'm just effectively complaining for no reason at this point xD That said, I want to see some more characters already. And Opa Opa better not be one of the characters that aren't returning. |

If that were to happen (oh god I WISH), then it'd be Gunstar Green in the cockpit. Either way, the game was made by Treasure, so I'm not sure of the plausibility of seeing it pop up here. As for the name, like Luffy, I personally call it Sonic Kart, but yeah, I think it would make more sense to drop Sonic out of the title since this isn't, primarily, a Sonic game. I liked how the tennis game was just called "Sega All-Star Tennis" and I figured the entire series would follow that trend. |

I think Sega has rights to Gunstar Heroes, though, just as Nintendo has rights to the Treasure-developed Sin & Punishment. I was thinking the Gunstar representitive would actually be Red and Blue piloting a vehicle that looks like a cross between the mine cart in Green's level and the spaceship after the Smash Daisaku stage. Seven Force could be used as their All-Star power, transforming between Soldier, Crab, and Falcon forms for land, sea, and air (respectively). |
