My immediate first thoughts were "what the heck, did they just re-use the Sega All Stars Racing theme for S4ep2?" It honestly looks about the same as Ep1 so far besides the artstyle change, but multi-hit enemies can just fuck right off. If you ask me, a game with enemies that take multiple hits should only be made for a character that actually has multiple ways to attack, otherwise it drags the game on and creates repetition by forcing the player to spam the single move they have at their disposal over and over again. I know I've wanted enemies that are more threatening than rolling stop signs and Homing Attack springboards in disguise, but for fuck's sake, even Dimps can do better than a generic HP increase. EDIT: That said, I hear that Taxman over at Retro has gone on record saying that the physics and uncurling from slopes has been fixed. Might seem a little sad that I trust a fan's word over the Word of God, but hey, he's responsible for the majority of the Sonic CD XBLA port/update, so that's gotta mean something. I didn't mind multi-hit enemies so much, but I wish they would properly bring back the Bounce Bracelet or something of that effect so you can properly follow up a homing attack with a good slam to the earth. |

That was actually one of my favourite things to do in Sonic '06, would you believe. That's exactly what I'm talking about - multiple ways to hit things, designed in such a way that moves can easily flow into each other when you play right. It's a right pity that the bounce wasn't available until pretty much the very last stage of the game. That said, it really doesn't belong here, mostly by virtue of being an emulation of a classic game, and you can't really have one without the other outside of boss fights because it pretty much defeats the purpose of both. It'd be somewhat less of a problem if you didn't bounce so damn far away whenever you hit something like that (the polar bear dude being the case in point here), but then that'd make the boss fights too easy. |

Oh, SEGA. Ok, I just beat Sonic Generations again on the PS3, and found the blurry cutscenes in the 360 version were just in the 360 version. In the PS3 version, they're crisp and clean. Only real downside is some isolated control lag and longer loading times. Otherwise, it's a strong version. :) Also, I just did "Can't Touch This" again on that version too. :D Oh, and bouncing off the walls in that boss fight doesn't count for that Achievement, so don't feel too bad hugging the walls, but do be careful. If you bump into it, you may ricochet slightly. EDIT: I just thought of something: since we're seeing the return of Sonic 2 Special Stages in Episode II, are we going to have a fucking awesome remix of that music? I HOPE SO!!
