Posts: 17,366 Group: All Powerful Deity Member #1 Joined: December 30, 2005	Took the words right out of my mouth; just because it's popular and an apparently large number of people want it, doesn't make it a legitimate addition to the game. Like I said, I personally would have no problem with it if it was more enjoyable or, AT THE VERY LEAST, incorporated some form of gameplay element inherent throughout the actual game. There are Chao races, yet you have absolutely no control over your Chao during this race, nevermind being able to do something as relevant as, oh I dunno, giving your Chao Sonic's speed or something to that effect. The evolution system is bogus, you keep feeding the damn thing a fuckton of crap only to increase stats minimally and still, not enough to see results in either the races or the fighting tournament. I'm not against the idea, but it's terribly flawed. Trying to say that me wanting to 100% a game, something that they're designed to have accomplished by a dedicated player, is the reason for any greivances brought upon me for engaging in exercises of futility with a tacked on, gimmicky side objective is stupid. There are a million other games out there with far more outlandish and downright nerve wracking objectives and sideboobs that need doing, from gathering collectibles over a sandbox city, to beating time attacks with miliseconds to spare, to ploughing through levels without taking a hit, yet they're still legitimate parts of the game that require you to preform based on SKILL LEARNED throughout said game. Hell, even action adventure titles with vehicle segments, of all things, have more legitimacy being a side objective than the Chao Garden was for the SA games.

I did all the missions out of sheer boredom but I didn't really bother with everything else. I've never even seen 3D GHZ. I'd love to but it is such a fucking hassle, I actually stopped caring. About Green Hill Zone. So, that's certainly another point in your favor, BL. Also, I have to say that what's in ANY game should never be dictated by fans. I mean, certainly not just because of demand. I'm not sure I've ever seen a game actually benefit from adding the most popular idea amongst the fan base. It's usually the less-supported but, you know, better ideas within the fanbase that actually add something to said game. EVE tends to be an exception to the rule though but that's a different kettle of fish. Spoiler: click to toggle
