I don't think you're too far off the mark. Pixel designs have been teased a lot. They have also been used in promotional art for Sonic's 25th anniversary as well as new merchandise packaging. |

SEGA will be shutting down Sonic Runners on July 27. The ability to purchase Red Star Rings was disabled on May 27 (RSRs can still be obtained through regular gameplay.) On top of that, the most recent update removed all third-party advertisements and there is a Sonic Colours event underway, which changes the BGM in both Endless/Story Mode and Timed Mode. |

I can still only hope that Fire & Ice is the last one. In other news, Sega - more specifically Sonic's twitter page - have been cryptically teasing news of a new Sonic game for the 22nd of July, at their 25th anniversary party. Why they didn't just fucking do it at E3 where it'd have more exposure is anyone's guess. |

...no? I'm not sure what part of that is supposed to be some kind of admission of guilt - for fuck's sake Nintendo announced basically the same thing earlier this year and everybody ate that shit up. It's also frankly nothing new, between Boom and the movie in development and the comics and cartoons that are pretty much ancient now. Why anyone is suddenly making a big deal out of this just now is something I can't fathom. |

In case you guys haven't heard yet, Sonic's holding a party for their 25th anniversary on the 22nd, and they will be streaming it on Twitch. All signs point to them revealing their next game around then.

We were discussing this and I mentioned how this feels like SEGA tapped into the fan community for this. It looks and feels like a really well polished fan game with money behind it, which is a good thing, because it's back to basics. It's clear cut, does all the shit people expect from a classic Sonic game and clearly their point it to dissect the source to see how they can improve on the formula. Good on them for taking a few steps back to look at their work, for once, SEGA doesn't have its head up its ass. Though, I accidentally read some of the comments, and there's actually people bitching about how they wanted modern Sonic and they waited all day just to see something they thought was disappointed. Stream is currently playing Crush 40 live, the lead singer kinda sounds like he's fuckin dying ahaha Right after they made the Mania announcement I'm pretty sure they mentioned it wasn't the only Sonic content they had to announce, so I'd stay tuned.
