I rather they stick to that too, but then I remember dreading hearing Sonic talk. The short was great because it was original, pixar-like, and Sonic didn't say a damn word. The one thing I can't stand about Sonic these days is the written dialogue and voices... even more than the game play from the bad ones. It's the same feeling I get when playing Kingdom Hearts and listening to Dolan and Gooby when there's more serious shit going on around them. Part of me is excited to hear it's pg13 because that should mean that the corny side of Sonic can be put to the side for something we wont have to cringe our teeth to. That's what worries me the most. Sonic is, first and foremost, a kid's series. Trying to make it all-grown-up is a recipe for disaster. It's like trying to turn MLP into a porno...oh, wait, that happened. nvm |

So apparently Sonic Runners is available right now in certain regions. I've heard some people have gotten it running by using a Canadian Apple account. One guy at SSMB is taking pics of the game's microtransactions. Most notably, one of them is fucking extra lives, at a rate of about $1.15 per five, and they slowly regenerate over time. EDIT: ahahaha, okay, get this, apparently some people are saying the game is in "maintainence mode", which for some reason means it's completely unplayable because it can't connect to servers. Yes, it's one of those games. EDIT2: Oh hey, remember when I said extra lives were on a timer? That timer fucking lengthens the further you get into the game. I'm so fucking done with this mobile bullshit. Any hope I had for Runners died the first few hours after it went live. Edited by Blacklightning, Feb 26 2015, 01:39 PM.

Somebody over at SSMB's doing some data mining in Runners. So far he's already found out the full initial roster. Spoiler: click to toggle Lotta fanservice going on right now, despite microtransactions and always online bullshit. Now why don't we ever get this for console games? That's complete and utter crap. |

I don't remember that being anything other than hearsay. Worst case scenario, someone probably translated one of Iizuka's interviews wrong again - which seems depressingly common between Japanese gaming developers and westerners with Google Translate and a foregone conclusion or two to jump to. In better news, to confirm something Havoc suggested earlier: no, they're not outright ceasing all development of console games. |

Thank fuck, though I legitimately hope they sit the fuck down and think long and hard about all the bullshit prevalent in everything they make before they go about their business making a proper, long term investment that is both, quality made and entertaining. If Nintendo can still make Mario successfully while keeping him fresh and relevant, then Sega can do the same with Sonic. |
