Uh yeah, that'd be my bad. I'm pretty sure this one was intentionally blown up by the guy who posted it to point out the "NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION" fine print right at the top of the page. Incidentally, looks like someone broke an embargo for it. |

I'm just gonna pop in here and say Sonic Underground was the best opening song ever. |

Speaking of opening songs, SatAM's was blatantly false. Sonic's the fastest thing alive? Sure, I'd believe that if Eggman didn't run just as fast. And hell, Eggman's an obese old man. Just think how fast he could run if he wasn't so fat and aging. And it doesn't even have the "this stuff happened way after the show was canceled" or whatever excuse going for it. Eggman's been doing that since day one. He outran Sonic in the first game, and the only reason he got caught was because he jumped in the Eggmobile to not fall off a cliff/building/whatever the fuck Scrap Brain is while escaping. Even if you don't count Eggman because plot, to paraphrase Yahtzee, "Tails runs just as fast and he can fly". Knuckles can run just as fast, and he can glide and climb walls (he doesn't jump as high but who the fuck cares, we're comparing him to Sonic, not Super Mario) At the time of the show's creation there were three canon characters who ran just as fast. The only ones who wouldn't count are Amy (who was slow as molasses at the time but got better from Sonic Heroes onward), and Metal Sonic (who, despite being faster than Sonic, is a robot and therefore isn't technically alive) |

I think I heard someone on SSMB speculate once that Eggman's legs are mechanical. And honestly, I'd believe that too. But Sega's not going to elaborate on a point of contention such as that practically two decades after the fact, so it's my own little headcanon in the place of what is otherwise a little comic relief. That being said: ![]() Eggman can't do this, so I think it's safe to say Sonic's gotten a lot faster since those days. |

That's actually a cool theory. It would also explain why his legs are disproportionally thin compared to his body. And yes, I'd agree with Sonic becoming faster. I COULD GO ON TO SAY THAT BLAZE AND SHADOW CAN ALSO USE THE BOOST, but I won't because Shadow cheats with rocket shoes and I'm not even sure if Blaze is from an parallel universe or the future, let alone know about a change in her abilities since the two games she was playable in. So I'll just move on to another thing that bugged me: Roboticization or whatever they called it. Not even going to get into the fact that Eggman never actually did that in the games. And I bring this up because I watched a Quake 4 speed run and the Strogg work in the same way, kind of (except the Strogg are cyborgs and not robots, and they do that because that's how they reproduce) How do you turn someone into a robot? That right there is a major question. The closest thing I can think of that is remotely similar is creating golems in D&D. And even then it only applies to flesh golems and bone golems. And it involves having an earth elemental's soul bound to the person's corpse. If the southern rabbit chick was anything to go by, it seemed like Robotnik slowly replaced body parts with robot equivalents. Why not just build a robot by itself with those parts? Why waste time dismembering something and replacing its limbs? And if the robot is powered by the creature's delicious, delicious brain, why not just take the brain out of the body and put it in a robot body? And if that's how it works, what keeps the newly-made brain-in-a-jar from immediately causing a huge headache with the guns/bombs/super strong robot limbs that were just installed on it? It just seemed needlessly complex for something that usually goes A. Put robot pieces together B. Activate robot But then again, I read a webcomic where robotic prosthetics are commonplace. And have remote control backdoors in them in case someone with one pisses you off. So you can make them slap themselves in the face. Like so: Spoiler: click to toggle Maybe I'm just being needlessly complex. Maybe I should just say "I hate Sonic cartoons" and "I'm a nerd so I'm going to nitpick about them". And "I just shoved three unrelated references into a rant about Sonic cartoon logic." |

Somehow, Knuckles looks way more doofy than in the silhouette.
