OCR remixed the soundtracks for Sonic CD. Both of them.

Is it bad that I can recognize almost none of the sources for the songs they remixed?

I downloaded Sonic Dash from a torrent and it looks like all the characters were already unlocked. It's pretty fun... and a battery eater.

I always felt that Sonic CD had an incredibly forgettable soundtrack anyway. Aside from the main theme (both of them), the only track I really remember because of how cool it was, was the American version of Stardust Speedway - Bad Future.

Because CD was an awful game.

That's all it has, the two theme songs and Metal Sonic's song.

I listened to the entire album three times now and I still can't remember any of its music.

I liked Stardust Speedway, the main songs, and that first upbeat level.

Sonic CD had the best gameplay behind S3&K.

Music was good but it really walked hand in hand with the gameplay. One without the other = no good

I dunno, I never got why CD so heavily touted, it was just Sonic 1 with a few extra quirks. I always considered it Sonic 1.5, like an intermediate stage between great and awesome. That aside, that Vector gif is awesome, what the hell is it from because I want more.

The main things I always remember about CD is that the time travel gimmick was haphazardly implemented, literally useless and contributed absolutely nothing to the game besides a harder, more obtuse method of getting the Good Future (and even then it makes the future signs serve absolutely no purpose anyway), and the fact they nerfed the absolute hell out of the spindash in some shallow attempt to justify the Super Peel Out which was exactly as strong as the spindash used to be. Oh yeah and using time travel to begin with consists almost entirely of exploits because there are sudden stops fucking everywhere and there's almost no stretches of track long enough to trigger it normally, which as far as Sonic is concerned is the most asinine thing imaginable.

I still rate it higher than Sonic 1, but only because it has a spindash to begin with. That's literally the only reason.

I'll have to disagree as Sonic 1 has way too many awesome childhood memories for me and the spindash was available in it when it was part of certain compilations I believe. But yeah, pretty much agree with you on CD and, aside from the signposts, what was the point of those Metal Sonic generators?

Also, I just did a quick run of the first level in Lost World (Wii U version), holy fuck is this game weird to control. Might be because I haven't played a Sonic game since...uhhh...I dunno Secret Rings? Yeah, I think I'm REALLY rusty. XD

People love the CD version for Metal Sonic, love interest, anime intro, a few songs, figure 8, and the rare chance to play it back in the day, since no one wanted to shell out for the Sega CD add-on. Personally I hated the time traveling, it took forever to load and was too much of an interruption.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Sonic CD? Oi, don't get me started on the special stages. If I recall right it was the 'Get fifty rings and go through the giant ring at the end of the stage' gimmick, but the special stages themselves were just painful. A time limit is okay, obstacles were par for the course, item pickups were iffy depending on what you got, but hitting those UFOs? That was pain incarnate.

Sprite art can do depth perception quite well, don't get me wrong. Get Blue Spheres pulls it off quite well. It's just that the Time Stone special stages were just ugh in terms of telling when to jump to hit them. Plus they moved, I think.

Getting the Good Future manually without the Time Stones really was another big pain because that required you to track down two items to destroy, one in the present and one in the past, with no indication of where either of them were to begin with, and if you played the game without this in mind you were liable to miss them. Granted, Good Futures eliminated all baddies and added in extra stuff to collect, and both changed the boss music and made things more bright and cheery if you got the Good Future in that zone's first two acts, but it took a lot of effort.

As for the soundtrack? It is kinda hit and miss, with the Japanese version having good songs, or at least the more memorable ones. Japanese boss theme sounded like Eggman was laughing at you and the lyrics were kinda creepy at the time. (Work that sucker to death, c'mon now work that sucker to death.) The final zone in the game's bad future might as well be Eggman taunting Sonic the whole time, along with the final boss theme. I mean, how often does a Sonic game of that era go with that kind of ominous orchestral sound?
