In the middle of the 21st century, an alien invasion destroyed most of the world's population. The survivors brought themselves together with technology and began to form a new world to live in. Their achievements in ready and renewable resources gave the world greenery once more, and soon the land was stable as it had been years ago.

In the 22nd century, the world had been repopulated to a great degree. People coexisted with little strife, and scuffles between people didn't escape nations. However, so many people yet living, a true government had to be established in order for all to be heard with so many voices. So it was that the Republic was formed.

However, some people used the Republic for their own personal agenda. Those with a keen eye and sound mind left the Republic and formed the Living Democracy in order to sustain everyone on an equal level.

Within years, weapons of war were being produced on a large scale. The nations fought against each other, and soon the world had become what it had been centuries ago.

In a peace pact, the two governments agreed on creating a research station for them both to gain from. So it was that their leading scientists produced the Cygnus station.

With the peace pact in place, neither side could rely on their personal armies. So it was that paramilitary organizations were formed. Mercenaries on both sides fought the war that their parent nations had ceased, and once more it seemed as if a stalemate was imminent.

Then, for a week, there was radio silence from Cygnus station. Without any word from the researchers onboard, both governments became anxious. There was only one thing they could do- build up a military force to see if any rebel groups had ceased the station. There was no indication as to what could be so important up there, but for both sets of nations to work together...

Factions of Nations

The Republic of Gaea
Formed at the turn of the century, the Republic's main goal is to unify the nations of the world under one simple democracy. The Council elects new councilmen every few years to cycle through the available candidates for representatives.

The Living Democracy of Gaea
In response to rumours of corruption within the newly-found government, a small group of councilmen lead half of the world with them to create a rebellion. The main goal of the Living Democracy is to establish everyone with an equal word.

Okay folks, my new sci-fi RP is up. It'll be pretty simple- you play the part of one of the soldiers, and you basically follow whatever direction I decide to take things. I'll basically be the DM or whatever.

Not to be too controlling or anything. That's what this topic is around for, of course. And, you are your own person, so...

But, I wanted to get something where there could be control over how it progressed, rather than having everyone meet together due to the threads of fate twisting together and everyone running off on wild tangents of destruction.

Now, if you don't feel like controlling a soldier, be my guest. Just ask me what kind of role you want, and I'll fit you in.

As for the players, you each are soldiers belonging to various factions. Just because you're working with the soldiers doesn't mean you can't play the bad guy or double agent. Play it how you see fit.

Also, I might liberally kill people. I'll go for the NPCs first though, I swear...

Now, the first post is going to include some background information, especially on characters and factions.

As for everything else...let's roll!

Erm, Psy, not to question your apparently divine judgment around these parts, but did you really need to post that? I'm sure everyone is quite aware of that thread's existence. You could also have contributed, which is something you begged us to do in said thread. You're a member too, you know.

Anywho, this sounds interesting. I'm guessing that Zephyr is some sort of commanding officer in the RP who, as expected, acts as our character's superior, which is why we follow his orders, etc. Small question, though. Are there any sort of rules we have to follow other than obvious rules of the board?

I'll be NPCing most of the thing. While I may RP as some of the commanding officers, others can also choose to if given permission. Others can be antagonist, if they so wish, but once more they have to let their requests be known.

Hell, you can even be a soldier with a hidden agenda, such as being under the employment of a certain faction or country to receive what's necessary.

The basic guidelines to rules will be placed in the opening post when I get to it. The current guidelines:

If you haven't PMed me about having a special role in the story, then you must be a standard soldier. If you really want to screw people up though, I'll give you instructions via PM as to how to go by your role the most effectively.

Nothing should be rushed. While you can easily say you're busy searching out an area or whatnot, making it by foot halfway across the station within ten minutes seems a little farfetched.
