Well, bad news is I can't play the game on my laptop; altered the settings to make the game look as low-quality as possible and figured out a couple of other work-arounds, and the game runs so slow that it's not worth playing. Good news is I'm going to exchange it for a new copy at Walmart and say it didn't work, then sell that new copy to a friend. |

7 hours is doable, if you rush through everything with the express aim of trying to complete normal mode as fast as possible so you can unlock nightmare. 2 hours is complete fabrication. And that's normal mode, you won't even have half of the available skills by then and the time it takes to complete each difficulty level is going to be exponential :V Edited by Jacquerel, May 15 2012, 11:10 PM.

Eric noticed they'd dumbed down the skills but I personally don't care because holy shit I'm loving this, while I'm blasting through a lot of things easily the boss battles are always challenging <3 |

Okay so in a skype chat I brought up how I am unimpressed with the game's lack of character customization, even though I was talking of aesthetics, but was presented with this.![]() Which I promptly replied with this: ![]() So, I ask you, how much meaning do those brown splotches actually have in regards to spells? |

The glyphs are far from copy/paste bullshit, while there are some that don't change the spell in an incredibly dramatic fashion there are few that don't have a noticable difference. Let's take the first ability that Monks get, Fists of Thunder, as an example. The basic ability deals 110% weapon damage as thunder, and the third strike deals that damage in a small AOE with knockback. Adding a glyph of Thunderclap causes you to teleport to the enemy location before striking. Adding a glyph of Static Charge marks the enemy you hit for 5 seconds, causing it to continue taking damage whenever you use the attack even if you use it on a different enemy Adding a glyph of Bounding Light causes the third strike to mutate into a chain lightning effect, removing the knockback component and decreasing damage but greatly increasing range Does that sound like copy/paste to you? These are not meaningless choices, they cause the abilities modified to morph to fit completely different circumstances. I also don't believe that you were able to combine the abilities in Diablo II in any combination that you wished, due to the way that the tree system worked. And some of the abilities are just the previous ability but with more damage and a bigger graphic (unless you were telling me that there was actually ever a reason to use Ice Bolt), sounds like copypasta bullshit to me ;) TL;DR, I have played this game for ~16 hours and the first list was definitely right. But you could have found this information with two minutes on google, and perhaps should have done so before trying to argue a point in the first place? I can agree with you to an extent on the lack of customisation though. Customising your character's face would be a huge waste of time as they are so small on the screen, but the ability to transmogrify armour into other pieces of armour that you have collected is a pretty baffling omission considering that it exists in World of Warcraft already. I wouldn't be surprised to see it added in a patch some time. Dyes just aren't enough! Edited by Jacquerel, May 16 2012, 11:57 PM.

On the subject of aesthetics, Diablo has never bothered with aesthetic customisation because it focuses more on character growth as opposed to creation. You get a preset character and you play it/level it up the way you want to. |

To elaborate, it was pretty much the changing of the skill trees that Eric noticed and thought was dumbed down, I had actually mentioned the runes to him though >_> And I personally like this system. I haven't tried the dying system yet but honestly you see so little of your character I don't see the point?? Nice to have though I guess... and the Dye Remover description gave me a chuckle. |

I can't think it's dumbed down considering you never had to put thought into Diablo II builds at all (that's what Google is for) There were like four correct builds and all the rest were wrong, some of them so wrong that it made parts of the game actually impossible But I've never been a huge fan of skill trees in general so that might be my bias talking Edited by Jacquerel, May 17 2012, 01:21 AM.

They wouldn't fill me in theirselves when I asked, and the argument was offtangent to my intended point anyway. But really, you cannot post such an image that shows almost no context, offer none, and then give none when it is requested. I mainly dropped it, hah. My point mainly was that I have a strong stigma against lacking character customization in modern age MMOs. To me, it's like being told you have to use one of the sample characters in a D&D book and except you can change the name. But at least they bothered with gender, I guess? |

It's not an MMO? 4 players is not by any means Massive, and everyone's on their own individual servers :U It also wasn't present in Diablo 2 so I don't know why anyone would have expected it. The only character customisation that would make any sense in this game would be the ability to swap armour models. I am not exagerrating, you can basically never see your character's face at all. They did have it in at one point but scrapped it because it was a waste of time that just lengthened the character creation process for no good reason. Edited by Jacquerel, May 17 2012, 01:48 AM.

And let me just say I am SO DAMN HAPPY that I can play a female regardless of class i am very much enjoying fem!arnie schwarznegger and azula as my main characters (yeah I only just started a barbarian but fuck I love this class) oh gais i'm playing on my own i'm so ronery :( realid is hedjeroo@gmail.com battletag is hedjeroo#2382 or something uh, feel free to jump into my games i guess??
