I know, the RP scene here is something of a joke, but if you all get your asses in gear, this could change. Anyway, on to the RP's storyline. Military Calendar - 4 October 2135 In the three and a half decades since the beginning of the 22nd century, Earth's population has swelled to nearly 24 billion people. The planet is covered with human metropolises, leaving less than 2% of the world's uninhabited. Due to being forced to live in such tight quarters, disease has become rampant, and even with advanced medicines, there are far too many ill people for it to be effective. Meanwhile, the world's governments are hard at work trying to solve the problem. The breakthrough came on October 4, 2135 when a scientist by the name of Roderick Lucius (who gained much acclaim for creating a viable fusion reactor) created a technology that allowed for NLS (Near Light Speed) travel. Coupled with tried-and-true Cryogenics technology, the overpopulation issue would cease to be a problem as the human race began the first interstellar colonization effort in its history. Military Calendar - 26 January 2248 Nearly 113 years after the colonization effort began, mankind had colonized over 70 planets. These planets were specifically chosen for their rich deposits of valuable and useful materials, and because of these reserves, these Inner Colonies have become incredibly prosperous. It was also during this time that a group of scientists cracked the problem of FTL (Faster Than Light) travel. No longer is mankind limited to just nearby planets. Military Calendar - 31 August 2341 206 years have passed since the colonization effort began, and now, mankind controls close to 200 worlds. Of these 200, 74 are Inner Colonies and are quite prosperous, 20 are the Middle Colonies and are mostly tamed, and the remaining 106 are the Outer Colonies; worlds similar to that of the wild frontier, and are considered by many to be only half-way colonized. For so long, the human race has been united by the United Colonists Accord, or the UCA. However, in recent times, there have been more and more reports of rebellion amongst the Outer and Middle colonies. On Military Calendar 24 December 2341, a small fleet consisting of 3 Iroquois class Destroyers, 2 Hayabusa class Destroyers, and an Infinity class Cruiser was seized by rebels near the Outer Colony, Perceon. On Military Calendar 30 February 2342, that same fleet was used to attack the Inner Colony, Onyx. Despite the rebel's small numbers, they managed to do a fair bit of damage to both the planet and the fleet surrounding it. That same year, 4 more fleets were seized by the rebel forces, most of them in the Outer Colonies. Now, the lines have been drawn. All of the Outer Colonies and most of the Middle Colonies are now at war with the Inner Colonies. Their motives are unknown, but they fight with vicious guerrilla tactics and boast fleet sizes at par with that of the Inner Colonies. Who will emerge victorious? That's what I have. You may improve upon it if you wish, as I want this to be a community venture. Also, later on today I'll post my character bio, as well as a rundown of human technologies during this time period. |
