Where can I find some 8 bit or 16 bit tunes? I've tried searching around but most of what I've found just flat out sucks. Here is the type of music I'm looking for: http://www.mediafire.com/?goyxmy2b44u (3.16MB) |

That kind of style is usually called a Chiptune. If you go to the site http://www.ctgmusic.com and browse through their music collection, you can find a lot of up-and-coming artists who actually make music in that style. However, if you're looking specifically for things like old songs from video games, you can check out http://www.vgmusic.com. That place has a lot of video game songs from almost every system you could think of. |

Thanks :) There is no Chiptune category on CTGMusic. Anything specific artists or albums? the Trance there is pretty good though =). VGMusic is great, but it will need time to sift through the huge piles of titles. I'm not looking for any specific song, any remixes or original tunes, as long as they're kick ass, would do. You would think more people would be into this type of music. The most recent sites I've come across are www.chiptune.com and www.chip-on.com, the former being almost impossible to browse through (I got a headache) but chip-on seems good. |

I could have sworn there WAS a Chiptune category. Well, one particular artist on CTGMusic that has a very "chippy" style goes by the name "slammy." You can find him easily, as he's also one of the moderators of the site and posts frequently on the main page and in the forums. |

This Site has a lot of the old 8 bit and 16 bit tunes from the games, as well as many more soundtracks, or you could try 8Bit Peoples, I liked some of the tracks on there, or even Chiptunes Radio. |

Yeah I know, no need to be an ass. Was just trying to help, since Chiptune sites are hard to come by. Sheesh. |

No need to overreact, it's against the rules and he has a valid point that it's only sensible to check dates before posting. Chances are that in the three years between posts he either found a site or no longer cares. |

Well the member who made the request doesn't come here anymore, but even though the thread is old, he did contribute. This makes a good reference for chiptune sites and I'll probably be checking them out myself. |
