Hi, I'm new to the manga scene and I'm interested in some suggestions. I would like something that not only I could read, but something a 13 year old girl could read and enjoy as well since I loan a lot of my manga out to her. I'm thinking mostly shojo, but, from what I've seen of you guys, I don't think you read a lot of that ![]() I'm okay with things aimed at younger people (both of us enjoyed the first Tokyo Mew Mew), and I'm okay with cliched cornball stuff. What I don't want is anything that even has a hint of boob or anything risque. Of all my manga, my dad read the first Chobits and was mortified at where the "switch" was located on Chi (if you've read it, you'll understand), when he learned I loaned it out to my friend he practically blew a fuse. I'm also not interested in blah action scenes. If there's action going on I want stuff to actually happen, I don't want to just stare at several pages of just pretty pictures of fighting, one page is okay, six is getting rediculous. Unless it's really really good. I want it to have an end, and I want to know how long before it ends. I know that Tokyo Mew Mew runs 6-8, Chibi Vampire runs 6-7, and Ragnarok runs 10 books long. While it's not really a requirement, I kinda want to know what's going on in the story, Ragnarok took me until book 7 before I even had a hint of what was happening. Price is another thing, but I assume 10-15 bucks is the norm, I can shell out 17 bucks and get a full length quality hardback novel though, what's up with that? I buy most of my manga used at a store in town, and I don't really know what I'm getting into when I pick something. I've really enjoyed the first Chobits, and the first Cafe Occult, I especially enjoyed Warcraft's Sunwell Trilogy. At the bookstore I've seen the original 12 Inuyasha manga and have been wondering if it's worth checking out. I've also been curious about Naruto. Sorry if I seem so demanding or picky, I just don't want pick something up and go "waaagh!" I have yet to meet anyone else who reads manga (with the exception of my friend, and she's only read what I have), so I though I'd turn to you guys. You seem to know what you're all doing so I leave my manga experience in your hands :D |

To be honest, I don't know what classifies as Shojo these days. Back in my day, Sailor Moon was shojo, but these days, stuff like Chobits goes under that category too. But here's what I enjoy. You've already stated how you're into Tokyo Mew Mew, so Sailor Moon's a good choice if you haven't swung that way. I'm personally a huge fan, despite it being aimed at girls. Seeing as you're a fan of Chobits, most of the Clamp's other mangas are just as good. Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles (or just Tsubasa Chronicles) is a story about a young man who wants to cure his amnesiac love, and in order to do that, they travel to other Clamp worlds to find "feathers" that restore fragments of her memory. The characters themselves are actually reincarnations of the two protagonists of Card Captor Sakura. It's sorta like Zelda meets Captain N....I guess. Another Clamp bit of goodness would be xxxHolic. No, the xxx has no relation to porn. A man is cursed by seeing the undead and visits a time witch to help cure him. She puts him in her service as payment, and quite a few interesting, and some hilarious situations ensue. The end of the first volume entails a visit from the two characters from Tsubasa Chronicles. The Wallflower is a story about a group of four or five guys who are put in charge of taking care of the daughter of a family friend (I think that's what it was). The girl is a tomboy goth/emo and the boys being the perfectionists and authority on fashion and trends that they are, decide to fix her up with makeovers and public outings. Needless to say, lots of funny situations. If you're a fan of Ken Akamatsu's work, then both Love Hina and Mahou Sensei Negima are good reads. The first is the story of a young man who's put in charge of an all girls inn by his grandmother. The second is the story of a young wizard who's put to test in the real world by given the job of being a highschool teacher in an all girls school. Both are great romantic comedies. Now, I'll note that some of the above (especially Negima and Love Hina) do have hint of boobs, and most of the rest will have risque situations. I'm sorry but, there is no manga today that won't have any of that, not unless it's something like Dragonball, and even that has a few nude shots of Goku/Gohan's weewee. Only stuff aimed at primiary schoolers wouldn't have anything risque, and truth be told, I don't know of any manga for kids. Anyways, that's the best I can do given your demands. |

I know. It's so uncomfortable. I hate it when I get constipated and push too hard, therefore blowing holes in the toilet. I buy at least 10 toilets a year! |

Well, if you are constipated all the time, why don't you take anthraquinone, it's a very good laxative. Or, you could eat vegetables, like spinach or akro. |

Durhurhur. Not only did TFKS fuck this topic over, but someone ressurected it to continue going off-topic. I'm locking this, and if there's anything you want advice on Beflexor, just PM or email me. |

... Alright, let's recap what was going on for you.
So, his comment was attempting to play off of mine, and failing miserably I might add. There was no real constipation. And even if there was, who really talks about their bowel movements? |
