Seeing as all there are around here are planning topics, I figured I'd just make a sort of free-form RPG sort of thing. Shift is partially based off of my soon-to-be-continued-from-infinite-hiatus Last Story, which in its own is ad-libbed by me and dramatically altered by the viewers.

Shift's story is rather basic: A group of adventurers are thrust through hell and creation in their effort to get whatever plot McGuffin pops up. Their adversaries? Likely the world and all it is.

What time period does this take place in? Hell if I feckin' knew. In fact, the setting is of no real importance. Don't be surprised to be at first taking on a hoard of armed swordsmen, of whom then transform into machine-gun armed cyborg mutants. Don't fret if you fall off the top of a skyscraper, as a dragon or Vic Viper will likely save your sorry ass from falling into the depths of Hades.

Character rules? Don't be overpowered? Else you will be overpowered? Something? Not much to say here, just keep things sensible, even though the rest of the world won't be.

So, um, link to a character profile, or make one from scratch and tell who they are, what they look like, why they're here, what they look like, if they can shoot rockets from their toes, and all the normal happy stuff.

Oh, you're still here? Well, time for the gimmick:
At the end of every week, a new host is elected. What did I just say? I said, any person who hasn't hijacked total control of the plot is allowed to do so. Explanation? The current host (which is me this week) chooses a role-player to take control of everything in the story the next week. Power is limited only by imagination. Just, make sure everyone's had their turns being plot hijackers.

And now, without further ado, some stupid story post!

The world was a dark place. I mean this not only metaphorically speaking, but quite literally as well. No one was quite sure whether or not an eclipse had struck, nor if it was evening and it wasn't quite apparent to them. In any case, a shred of light struck upon the brick wall to where a single ruffled parchment was precariously pinned upon. On such paper, ink was printed upon, easily legible by those who dared to read of it.
Of which it read, "To those embittered by life or left wanting for more, please enter the door to the left," upon such paper, the scene seemed rather queer, as there existed no door to the left, and neither the right. In fact, there seemed to be no actual door on the building of from which to enter, nor windows, nor any point of entry visible at all.

Or so it seemed.

(I'd have expected people to sign up for this. My excuse is that I'm in the middle of finals, and haven't made much time for RPing.

I need an excuse to use Cataclysm, so I'll be doing so here. Profile is obviously in my topic, she's the last one I believe.)

It was a dirty job, but someone had to do it. Being a P.I. had it's benefits, but the cons outweighed the pros. Sure, the money was great, but getting it wasn't. Associating with the dregs of society and scum of the Earth to find someone or something was in the job description. But it's what passed for a living in this plane of existance, and one shouldn't really look a gift horse in the mouth, as the saying went.

So there Julia stood, in a dark, dank alleyway, staring down at a paper that was pinned to the wall. Her sources had led her here, and she was looking for some kind of indication that her latest target was somewhere around.

There's no damn door anywhere around here. Someone must've moved this thing from where it originally was. Probably an ad for some glorified fortune teller or something.

She shrugged at no one in particular and continued looking around for any clues.
