Okay, guys. If you pay any attention to that gimongous blue box in my sig, you've probably noticed that I like a lot of Japanese artists. Well, there's one that's going to be appearing a bit more often in there. It looks like 川田まみ, but if your computer can't read that, it's Kawada Mami. Formerly a member of the singing/electronic group KOTOKO, she's started a single career on her own. Now, I've been in love with Hamasaki Ayumi now for about 4 years. When I first heard her, she gave me the chills with her songs. And now, in 2007, Ayu is coming up on either her 10th or 11th year in the business. That's hard to believe, but it's true. And though many know her as having the largest remix base of any J-pop artist (I have just about every one XD), her newer stuff never ceases to amaze me. But unfortunately, I tagged onto her a bit late. By the time I discovered her, she had about 8 albums out, not including singles. Well, back to the now. I first heard Kawada Mami in the opening of the anime Shakugan no Shana. Her beautiful voice totally owned me! XD Forget just chills, she made me happy! And so I payed the $15 to have the Hishoku no Sora Single shipped to my house from Japan. On it was the song just mentioned, as well as an instrumental version of it. And naturally, with most singles, there was another song on it. This one, entitled "another planet," is absolutely amazing. It brought tears to my eyes the first time I had it. And I was driving, which probably wasn't very bright. >_< Needless to say, she has made QUITE the impression on me. So, about a week ago, I found out that she had her first solo CD put out. It's been out in Japan since last March, so I couldn't wait to order it. I payed $25 (something I NEVER thought I'd do for a CD >_<) to have this one shipped to my house from overseas. And you know what? She didn't disappoint! ^_^ It's 12 songs of absolute joy! I can't believe just how beautiful her voice is. It's absolutely inspiring to hear her sing, even though I can't read the lyrics and only understand every other word. XD So I'm doing what every good musician does when they find an artist that just starts out and they like them. I'm jumping on the bandwagon and pumping her out as best as I can. I mean, I only hope someone will do the same for me one day, should they like my stuff. So, all of you guys that listen to any J-pop whatsoever, check this girl out! And don't steal her music! I'll kill you myself. >_< AND NEWS TO ME!! She's got another CD with some of these same tracks plus remixes coming out on the 9th! Official Japanese Site Wiki Page |
