That seems like an overly-strict use of the term "symbolism" there if you ask me, but I guess that's why I don't Edit Wikipedia. Personally, I think that symbolism is less obvious than that. When something symbolizes something else, it would be more like a comparison than a blatant use of a religious symbol. For example, a cross does not ALWAYS represent a religious symbol. Although I will admit that the cross explosions as caused by the "Angels" were for that reason, this wouldn't be the first time explosions like that were used. But I digress. I just think that there's more to references than symbolism in this anime. Another example is this: There is an anime called "Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica." As the name implies, it uses a lot of musical references. In fact, the characters use instruments as weapons and things like that. But it's not musical symbolism. That would be like if somebody were to have a character that was a master pianist that went down in history as the greatest of all time but never named that character. Symbolically speaking, we're inclined to assume it could be Beethoven. But the person doesn't blatantly say that it was, so the character becomes a symbol, and therefore symbolic. Making symbolism. But no need to argue semantics. I see your point, and hold that there probably is a lot more Christian influences in the story than thought at first glance. |

Yeah, I guess I'm just mixing up my wordplay as per usual. XD So anyway, the new series should be released soon, and there's STILL talk about the live action movies. Any word on those? |

You do realize that was a fake, right? You know, seeing as it was right there in the video's description? Lemme rephrase my previous question: REAL information regarding the live action movies plz. |

This thread has been pretty dead for a while, time to perform some relevant necro magic. : D First, for anyone that is anticipating Evangelion 3.0 Q Quickening, the third film of the Rebuild series, it was just announced not long ago that the film would be out in Japanese theaters Fall next year. Now, the first film was released September 1, 2007, and the second on June 27th, 2009 (in Japan), only two years apart, so I can only figure the three year gap is because, last I heard, Evangelion 3.0 and 4.0 were suppose to premier together. The original source that I found with the information. According to this Eva wiki, "The TV edition of Eva 2.0 which aired in Japan on August 26th revealed an updated Next Time Preview for Q, which gave a tentative theatrical release for Fall 2012. The updated (16 second) Next Time Preview included images of a bandaged and eye patch wearing Asuka flying through space in her slightly altered Eva-02. During this preview, Misato says: "Shinji Ikari awakens. Beside him stands a mysterious boy. And then, a new world waits for him." " The video: I know I'm pretty excited, and Koro was as well when I talked to him about it. Oh yeah, and I'm uploading the first two Rebuild movies in English dub form for anyone that wants to see them. I've got the first one uploaded now, and I'll update with the second one once I have it uploaded. I don't believe they're in HD format, but they still looked pretty great to me regardless. Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance EDIT: Fixed the thread title, since there's more than just the original series to talk about now. Query; what's the difference between 1.0 and the various 1.whatever iterations that came after? I ask because I'd really like to have the most complete version of the episodes I can get my hands on. :3 |

I mistyped the title of the one I uploaded, the version I have is 1.11, not 1.01. And according to the wiki: "A Blu-ray Disc and new DVD release titled Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone was released on May 27, 2009.[52] The film was given a re-transfer to fix some darkness issues in the previous DVD release and roughly 3 minutes of new animation was added to the first 15 minutes of the original film." And according to the eva wiki: "Eva 2.0 skipped the DVD-only "X.0X" treatment of its predecessor and was released straight to a DVD & BD 2.22 version supplemented with new scenes and dozens of modified cuts. New scenes include Shinji meeting Kaji at a Tokyo-3 train terminal and Eva-03 being air-lifted out of the American base. " |

Updated the last post of page one with the link for 2.22, so now both movies can be downloaded. I don't know how long that site leaves things uploaded before it removes them, if it does. |

iluCodeh, I'm totally getting both and watching them ASAP. I've been hesitant because of the X.XX versions they keep releasing. Seeing as these movies are damn long, I really didn't want to watch them several times just for a few minutes of extra footage. |

I figured you would get them if you hadn't seen them already. Especially because of the format, I was all, "Well, Seeco loves him some English dub usually." |

The most I know about Evangelion is that it has robots, hot chicks with hot eye patches, and that I beta tested an Evangelion MMO browser game which I believe is now defunct. |

Shhh, don't spoil. If he knows too much, you'll never get to see the eventual scene involving him rocking back and forth in a fetal position in the corner, sucking his thumb and mumbling "It's just a mecha anime." over and over again. |
