My initial point was that you're more accustomed to fast paced titles, titles that force you to think fast and keep your head cool. Plus you yourself told me that you weren't aware that I was refering to DMC 2's hard difficulties and assumed I was talking about the default ones.

Regardless, Halo is a more tactical game, and despite being bombarded by armies of monsters, you are still given plenty of room to maneuver and there is always cover to find. You have a plethora of weapons to choose from at your disposal and in no way are you ever cornered to the point where you are at a complete loss for what to do. It gives you plenty of room to tackle any given situation in any number of ways, which makes it a lot easier in comparisson.

In the end, there is no necessary skillset required to master Halo's Legendary aside from using common sense. Luffy went through Legendary by taking advantage of the Drop Shield. Fenix ran through the entire game without ever changing from Sprint, except in the one segment of the game necessary to do so. Perhaps one player favours the DMR, while another would prefer using the Needler Rifle, it's all based on preference. This is why I can't understand anyone condemning the game as difficult. My initial post was meant to serve as reassurance to your general statements throughout the thread that you were content with Heroic and would not even attempt a solo Legendary run. I was just trying to say that the game isn't that hard, and in my opinion, isn't worth the overestimation a large part of the community has given it.

While it is true that I generally favor the more fast-paced titles, I also play on a regular basis more tactical titles. I know what's expected of me when I play such. However that doesn't mean I won't complain if something cheap-ass happens that ruins it for me, and Legendary loves to do that. I've been shot through walls, I die from a plasma grenade attack that explodes fifteen feet away, die when my equipment doesn't work, etc. I may be extra careful, and hide more then I shoot. Yet, dickwad deaths still happen. Legendary makes the unthinkable "thunked." You'll die more so from doing something properly, then actually because you made a mistake. No amount of skill or patience will prevent that. Players all the time try different tactics on Legendary, and even though they do them right, the game will tell them in no uncertain terms that it will not work.

I got through Heroic because I abused Armor Lock and had luck, particularly in the last half of the game. However, I received scrutiny from that (more the Armor Lock part, since you really can't scrutinize luck). Go figure. People would rather say that playing through using only Sprint is cooler, or abusing Drop Shield, despite that it weakens fast under a lot of fire. But heaven forbid using Armor Lock, nononono, that's cheap-ass (even though I can take down Hunters like nuts with it, although I still hate fighting Hunters).

I'm sick and tired of people reminding me of how "unskilled" I am because I'd rather play lower difficulties on a regular basis then "test my metal."

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

And then come the tourneyfags/MLGfags, who get all up in your grill for not being HARDCORE DMR BRUTHAH FROM ANOTHAH MOTHAH and not doing shit their way I guess. Like I said, I don't see a problem playing lower skill levels, I just couldn't understand why you seemingly never tried going for the gold.

Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

I would love going for the gold if my hand didn't get chopped off during the process.

Luffy went through Legendary by taking advantage of the Drop Shield.

And I love it so. Fuck the Health Packs. MY SHIELD HEALS ME, BITCH.

I tend to hide somewhere safe before using the Drop Shield, as a result. Especially in co-op, as when you die, the Armour Ability is lost forever. *RAGE*

Personally, this is the first time that I've subjected myself to such torture. I had started Legendary alone on Halo 3, but then Fenix offered to help. We kicked ass, despite the lag. Dare I say the lag made things easier, as it gave me more time to react :D

Psycho's gonna hate me for this, but in all honesty, I jumped straight into Legendary just for the achievement. And that I didn't want to play the Campaign from start to finish multiple times just to get each difficulty achievement.

Personally, I think anyone should be able to do the Legendary run alone. You just need two things...actually, make that three.

1) You'll need to be prepared to invest some serious time into the Campaign. It may have taken Sen on SoaH just a few days to finish, but it took me at least a week.

2) Adapt. Ditch the Assault Rifle first chance you get. I never thought I'd say that, but Legendary has taught me that the Assault Rifle is practically useless. You won't get anywhere unless you have the capacity to alter your strategy when needed, even if that means running back as far as you can to grab a Plasma Pistol and DMR/Needle Rifle that some Jacakals dropped. Also, for Plasma Weapons: Pistol, Launcher, or Grenade. The Plasma Repeater and Rifle, in my experience, are just as useless as the Assault Rifle.

3) Patience and/or brains. I'll admit, I got pissed at some of the deaths, mainly because I'd find myself in situations where an Elite will be chasing me down; and I'd be backpedalling, only for him to catch up and kill me with a single melee attack, WHILE MY SHIELDS WERE STILL FULL.

There's probably more I can say on the topic at hand, but I've already scared myself more than enough by actually partaking in this discussion; and I'd rather not piss anyone off more than I probably already have.

I don't see a problem here, that's what I've done with every Halo game (actually, that's what I tend to do with every game, I always go for the hardest difficulty first). You get all of them if you beat the hardest one, so I really saw no reason to try the easier ones. Unless you're talking about the whole "doing it for cheevos" thing, then I'll concede, Halo has that annoying affect on me too.

As for me, while it would be awesome to obtain a 150-pt. Achievement, I'll be content with a 50-pt, and a 125-pt ones. [wink.]

I only used the Plasma Rifle or Repeater for Grunts and Jackals. If I knew there was going to be an Elite in the area, out comes the Plasma Pistol. Strangely enough, when I did "The Package" on Heroic, I didn't use the Plasma Pistol when the Firefight-like session in front of the lab happened, despite all the Elites. I used a Rocket Launcher to thin the numbers, and when the Field Marshall showed up with his sword, I got lucky when that cock Emile "melee'd" him from behind, distracting him and bringing down his shields a bit. I returned fire with a DMR as Emile distracted him.

That actually gave me an idea against the two Hunters in "Pillar of Autumn." After dispatching the Skirmishers, I played mainly distract. If they shot at me, I would use Armor Lock to deflect it back. Sometimes it hit them. Other times, Emile would run up from behind and land a shot in on his own (thank God he's invincible). If they turned away from me, I would use a DMR to shoot them in the back until they noticed me again. Then it was rinse and repeat. Emile ended up killing both of them AT THE SAME TIME!!

Yeah, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that finds Halo boring unless it's on Legendary. I think the only issue I ever had was with Halo 2's nigh-infinite spawns that just pour out and leave you almost no ammo to contend with them.

Yea see, I couldn't use Emile as a decoy, as the Hunters had managed to smack him over the railing within the first few seconds of us encuntering them.

I had to fight them alone ;-;

Now that just sucks. It's those dick things Halo can do that take the fun out of a Legendary run.

Psycho: I just found out that the way to unlock the EVA helmet is to have 30,000 cR and the rank of Major. [polishes his own EVA helmet.]

And as of now, Bungie have announced the first DLC pack, the Noble Map Pack, available for 800 MS Points on the 30th November. Includes 250 GS worth of Achievements.

The maps are Tempest, Anchor 9; and Breakpoint.

Since I doubt we're going to get a Halo Reach Ultimate Edition, or a new Halo game that has the complete Reach mutliplayer experience, I think I'll cash in on this.

What can I say? I'm a whore for DLC.
