Hello!

I have read thru almost every thread in this website and I must say Iīm thrilled of all pics and modding. This site is just the very one Iīve been searching for to get inspiration and tips regarding trax viechles.

Now to my Nitro Blizzard build. Iīve allways whanted one but other projects seemed to come in instead until now. I finally get my hands on an early version of nitro blizzard, meaning no chassis brace, chromed wheels, old body style.

I was more into the newer DF-300 type, but its just peanuts to achieve that.

The engine suplied in the kit GS11x is in my eyes like no no so I will put it aside for something else. I also put ballbearings to all bearing points instead of bushings.

I will use an O.S 18cvr instead for this blizzard witch incorporates some work to get it in place, but I like machining and modding so it suits me fine! I also like Kyoshos special Engine Mount alot and will have those on.

Since the main chassisplate has the Kyosho style threepoint mount to the engine I had to make and adapterplate to fit the enginemounts on.

Posted Image

But note the diffcase and brakepads, theyre sits 2mm above the plate!

Posted Image

I shaved off approx 3mm from the plate at those points so the plate fits on the chassis plate.

Now can the engine easily be mounted on the chassis plate.

I also had some spare parts from Kyosho Superten cars laying around and since they use the same diffcase and gears I put the 92110 High ratio gear set and the aluminium diffcase instead of the standard parts. The diff is filled with silicone wt 20 000 and sealed with those tiny o-rings to avoid leaks.

I decided to alter the gearing a bit to get more use of this engine tourqe.

Well, thatīs all for now.

Hereīs the High Ratio gear (92110) with aluminium diffcase (FZW25) and those tiny o-rings. Those gears have 12/37 ratio instead of 11/37 as standard.

That is going to be one crazy machine!!! :nice: I love the engine plate! You must have a mill?

I swapped the stock Kyosho motor for a .25 in my Mad Force and it was beyond insane! So I would expect you'll get similar results.

I am very curious as to how your tracks hold up to the abuse.

Not much for an update but some. I had finished the body for my Blizzard, I pick the newer Df300 type and choose a blue color that pretty much match the OS engine head.

Thereīs no snow here in sweden despite winter season, so the maiden run had to take place in a sandtake.

I had the gear ratio changed in the diffcase during the build up but I also change the gearing on the clutchbell. This was necceseary cause with stock set up 13/19 T the OS CVR only reving up and didnīt had a chance to show itīs massive tourqe!

I ran now 17/23T on a Kyosho pc clutchbell (39724) and now it runs like a wild!! Iīm surprised how everything holds up. I was prepeared for stripping chainsprockets, breaking trheads and so forth but so far everything holds together (fingers crossed).

Iīm working now with to put a tuned pipe in such as Macīs tuned pipe. The engine is suffer with stock exhaust and sould release itīs full potential with a proper pipe.

So stay "tuned" for pipe picīs!!!

Nice work, it's a truly beautiful machine and the machining and fitting is exceptional. One question, are these tracks the current issue DF300 nitro tracks, or something from the older Blizzards?. They look much better than mine, stronger.

Yes they are from the older version of Nitro Blizzard. Theyīre stronger but stiffer in motion than the newer ones.

Well, itīs time for the pipe mod to my Nitro Blizzard.

The pipe I use is a Macīs tuned pipe for 2,5cc 12-18 engines and a ThunderTiger SSK V2 header witch is the largest header for an .18 engine availble right now.

Posted Image

The tuned pipe mod also make it neccesseary to open up the hole in the upper chassis plate so the header pipe goes thru.

Posted Image

Hereīs the tuned pipe layout in the chassis. It fit quite well in the subframe without any probs. Throttle servo and linkage converter has the be raised 22mm by studs. This raise is no problem if the DF300 body is used.

Hereīs some picīs showing the tunedpipe in the subframe.

And the pressure line added...

The TT SSK V2 header...

The only thing now that differ by look is the exhaust pipe pointing out at rear.

I hadnīt any chance to try this mod out yet but I will be back asap!!

I had a quick test run with the Macīs pipe mod today just to see how loud the pipe setup would be.

The result was supricingly good. Now the engine wasnīt overheated by sufficating in exhausts and roams quite good as a 2-stroke should do and could rev even higher!

I waiting for gears (20/26T) to the pc clutchbell so the Blizzard can be fully setup for a run.
