HI , I just took my stock silver can motor out and replaced it with a Trinity stock 27 turn, used the same pinion gear and it runs faster and so far so good.I also use a3600 battery which has helped. Also I would suggest opening the Diff case and adding diff oil, helps improve steering and over all performance. |

It has been very dead around here. I am hoping it will pick up as the snow flies. I'd hate the site to peter away as theres a lot of Blizzard info here that can't be found elsewhere. I have tried many different motor combos in my Blizzards. Overall I still think a decent setup is a stock one. Tho I do think it needs to be geared down a hair as the stock gearing leaves the motor very hot after a run thru the snow. A better stock motor or possibly a 35turn would be a sweet setup. In my dual motor setup I am running dual 19turns, and can't gear it up enough. Its just too much power. I have to watch it as I have been blowing brake pads with this setup. Since theres snow out there right now if I get a chance I'll try to hack a better gear ratio in it and get some pics. |

I really couldn't tell you. Best to PM him and see if he has any left. I know he's taken a break from making things for awhile to put his affairs in order. |

The dual motor plates are wicked. I still wish I would have picked one up last year when the were still up for grabs.
I love my Blizzard, but it is definitely a bit on the underpowered side. I found many times last year where I was hoping for a bit more torque and speed. I was toying with the idea of dropping in a slower brushless motor to see how that would work. Maybe something like Castle Creations Mamba Max esc with a 4600 motor. Not sure if I wanna risk a $100+ esc to the elements, though............... |

i am thinking of getting a BL as well...maybe wait for Mamba Max Monster....but i have no idea if the mamba ESC is waterproof.......then after some internet study..i came across with an article about Castle Hydra 120 ESC, which is a waterproof water cooled ESC...i dunt know if the Hydra 120 can go with Mamba Max motor...and there is few online review about blizzed meeting a BL set...too bad. |

It says the pinions are 48p, in the manual they only list 17t->20t. I plan to run the stock pinion when I upgrade from the stock motor. |

When I still ran a single motor. I felt after many many runs that the stock setup was very close but the should have an extra tooth... The reason behind that is after a run the motor was smoking hot. A little more gearing would help... Or it might have been my motor maybe, I never did try a different stock motor... Running dual motors I am currently at 23 pinions with a much smaller spur. And its still way too powerful. I am still trying to figure out how to gear it up some more... |

I run a 12x2 orion SV2 (the cheap version of the V2) with 2S lipos, and a 15T pinion with the stock spur. Even in heavy, wet snow (+12degC, snow isn't here for long anymore) the motor gets barely warm... hence gearing up is definitely possible. Just sharing my setup and hoping this helps other figure gearing out

Don't know if anyone still drops in here but.......... I have a spare 5700kv with a "sidewinder" esc that I'm going to drop in my blizzard this winter, and we'll see what takes place I've had it in a wheely king for the summer, and it will clock anything that I've run it against - track cars - dirt track cars etc... ( I'm actually surprised that the WK trans and diffs took the power without breaking anything - speaks well for the quality ) so I think that the snow will fly this winter

Hi, I am here often since I just bought a EV. I also visit the GP forum as well and have a Nitro Blizzard NIB. I find this forum the most formitive out there! You guys are teriffic. Your ideas, tips and videos are so helpful. I think there is little interest now in Blizzards. The summer is over and the snow will start to fly in a few months. People will be here all the time asking questions and sharing their tips and know how. I have posted here a few weeks ago and no response. Since then there has been a few postings. Guys are getting out there Blizzards, tuning them up for the snow and dusting them off now I am sure. My EV will be painted and decaled just like the box. I got a full bearing kit from ebay, OFNA 100K oil, diff grease, Futaba 3PM 2.4GHz radio, Futaba S3010 72 .0z servo, 1/32" gasket material for brake pads and with much thought and no hesitation, a Sidewinder 4600KV for power. The ESC will be the one that comes with the Sidewinder 4600KV, and a Dura Trax 4200 NiNH 6 cell battery with Deans connectors. Pinions from 21T-33T. My inspiration comes from Jimbiss who has posted a tremdous amout of info on his electric Blizzard. He uses a Mamba Max 4600KV. And also want to mention outcastrc, who has posted his experience and build pics...here. Thank you guys, my EV is a better machine because of you I have some building to do. Will keep you guys posted. r/c kelley Edited by r/c kelley, Sep 6 2008, 12:47 PM.

Hi guys! newbie here... I just ordered a Ep Df-300 and bought a Castle side winder combo (5700kv). What pinion should i use if i plan only to ride it in cold temp, mostly powder, and still want good low end acceleration?. I was asked if the 48 pitch is "metric pitch"...? for the pinion. I also would like to assemble it with the sprockets in the back, like a real cat (i am a sno-cat operaror), does that sound too complicated to do?. I know i will need brake servo reversed and esc reversed but, as far as battery, electronics placement and that "rear" suspension link goes, is it doable?. I will power it with a 2200mah LiPo and consider using 2 LiPo's in paralell, what do you think? overkill?... I never even seen a blizzard up close so i have no idea. Thanks guys, this site ROCKS! ..
