I don't think anyone has mentioned this here yet... I only discovered it myself. Traxxas is releasing a new version of the E-Maxx.

You can see all the details at their website, but in a nutshell the two biggest improvements are:

1) Much stronger drive train, completely updated for brushless power
2) Weather sealed!!!! Boots on all the u-joints, sealed diffs, sealed servos, rceiver, and ESC! Yes, you can run through puddles or in snow out of the box.

I think I'll be getting one. I always wanted to put a brushless in my E-Maxx, but never looked forward to spending all the money to beef up the drive train. This is a MUCH cheaper option!
