I guess they are the drive and guide wheels? Not sure about the terminology. The silver ones. I'm sure this is a high wear area, so what paint would be a good choice? For both the metal and plastic ones.

Thats a good question. I haven't touched mine for the same reason. I was thinking of just removing the paint and see how it looks.

I primed them with Red Oxide primer then painted them the acrylic paint for that particular tank. Will it wear off? After 4 hours of running time on a tank equipped with metal sprockets and tracks it did, a little. Not really noticeable, and easily touched up. I suppose the same thing woulda happened to real tank, they didn't powder coat back then!

Take a rear mud guard off your tiger and take it to your local hobby shop.

Match the color of your mud guard with any good hobby paint and paint your drive wheels and rear sprockets
After the paint is dry drive your tank and in a while the track should rub away the paint and leave a nice silver pattern on your wheels just like the real ones.

That's a good idea! It did not occur to me how they would do it on a real tank. I plan on repainting the whole thing at some point, but one project at a time. Just getting rid of the silver wheels would be a vast improvement. For some reason, they painted the spare track section on the front silver too on mine.
