Hey all, you may wonder where I have been the past few days.... well part of it would be building a wee plow for the front of the blizzard. now before you see the pics I want it undertsood that initially I only want a fairly simple plow that goes up and down actuated by a servo, not the 6 ch plow design that OC is working on .that having been said I am building in some flexibility to allow the thing to be upgraded at a later date to at least tilt left/right and possible to allow the angle fo the blade to be altered. like OC I used monster truck suspension parts I had lying around, unlike OC I used the smaller Tamiya wild dagger/baja champ(TL01b) suspension so the plow is closer to the chassis. anyway now your all bored half to death here's some pics: it not fully attached and cannot raise itself but this is what it might look like when its finished: ![]() profile: ![]() the blade itself: ![]() including the two holes left over cuz I drilled them 30mm apart before realising the block was milling was only 25mm thick.... hopefully you can see with teghse two pics the new brace that attaches the lower arm and the block I milled(so far only rough miled for proof of concept it need alot more material removed otherwise a servo will never lift it) ![]() ![]() enjoy.... I am only looking for proof of concept right now, i.e. this will not be a running plowuing machine within a week I just wanted to see if it was doable. I think it is....so I will endevour to get it working. the plan right now is to make a brace in front of the battery which will act as a piviot point for the upper arm and also for a bellcrank to pull the plow blade up and down...I expect the servo will be located towards the back of the chassis so there will be a very clever link arrangement.....failing that they will be very odly shaped links...

Right on!!! Can't wait to see this come about...A simpler design is nice in that theres way less to deal with. I couldn't tell you how many hours I pulled my hair before it started to come together... |

thx I am tearing my hair out slightly cuz I cant put it togther in full working order seeing as I've run out of threadlock....
I have the block in the middle a pivot which will have links to limit its side to side movement but that may allow its manipulation by use of an extra servo at a later date....

Neat-O! Clean! I like the little endmill case used to prop up the blade Boy, thank God that crossbar is there to provide a pivot point - Very handy. Good work Spoon! Chris

glad you like it...

So THATS what those are! I got sent a 1/16 AT gun barrel (the sweet Kitrin Panzerbuchse gun) made by a guy in one of them, and i always wondered what they were from. I should hit the local machine shop and see what they do with their casings... I can think of uses for at least two dozen of the suckers... maybe more. WhiteWolf the Ever-Scrounge |

Wolf, the casings are easily obtainable: Simply find a cutting tool company, and buy as many small cutters as you can afford (Average $17 ea. for carbide.) Then, split the useless-to-you cutters into 2 piles, wrap them in toilet paper, and send them to someone who can use them: For instance, myself and Spoon (Please be cool and foot the shipping, as we're trying to save for the holidays-Thanks!) Then, next thing you know, you'll have a bunch of little plastic cases! Ta-Da! If you end up with more than you need, please send them at you expense (Holidays again, y'know) to myself and Spoon, as we happen to have have the perfect use for them: We use 'em to protect our small carbide cutting tools. If you need any other questions answered, by all means ask away! Cheerio, Chris |

strictly speaking these house some micro drills for use with a pin drill, but a tiny endmill would also be housed in such a casing too. there will be updates shortly, just as soon as I have all the bits made....the tricky bit is working out how to make it go up and down without upsetting the entire chassis layout....

I am looking at getting a Blizzard and also building a blade for it. I like your simple design and it looks similar to what I had in mind. I think I am going to go a little more complex than yours and go for up and down and either curl or angle movement. I think just modifying the rear suspension arm/assembly from a car or truck could accomplish this. The blade would more or less replace the tire. This would give me a setup that could move up and down and be able to control the curl of the front blade. Modifying the front suspension could give you a whole other axes of movement. Back to shopping for a Blizzard to start building on. |
