would members like to start haveing some online contests like photo contests and buld contests and stuff....just sumtin simple to start like photo contests with theames that way all members can participate with no issuses over who spent the most on what. theames are allways fun. best jump, plowing, trailing, mudding, crawling, ect....... and when we get more members we can do larger prize contests and maybe get donated prizes too (hint*hint*Toyranosaur*) photo contests also help make members get with there blizzes and enjoy them more. and good pics and contests make people want a blizz and to join the fun and the forum. i know i haven't taken mine out in some time and a good contest would be isperation for me to go and do it. i haven't taken any pics of it for along while or my new one at all since i got it. LOL so good idea??? who wants in and who wants to be involed in makeing it happen....other then just me

pictures based contests would be cool, certainly a featured ride on he main making-trax.com page would be good... I dont know if we yet have the kind of member #'s to consider a ride of the month style contest, but less frequent ones may work? prizes are another issue.... we talked about doing a raffle at some point, this might allow someone to win a heng long tank or a blizzard, and if it proved popular the prize fund may stretch to Tamiya Tank Kits which would be a better motivation for entering. again tho we would need a few more regulars on here - if the forum was jumping like RCC or scale4x4 it might be do-able.... all such contests would have to be paid entry, unless the prize was donated to us in the first place...  |

raffles are another thing with big $$$ giveaways. on smaller contests like pic contests you keep the prizzes simple.....like sticker kits or front support kits for a blizz in a blizz contest or some scale army guys for your tank or weapons for it you know. on clodtalk a buddy and me split the cost of haveing 2000 clodtalk stickers made. we sold them/sell them in kits of 12. 2 of each style and in each color of 3 colors makes a kit of 12 stickers per kit. we sell them for $5 shipped per kit. now i was for awhile holding pic contests on CT and gave sticker kits away as the prize. it's simple and makes people happy.

I have wanted to get something going from the very begining. Seriously considered doing a Blizzard raffle. Tho with the lack of membership it became obvious that I would have to fork out all the cash to pull it off, with little expectation of getting enough funds to pay me back... Something I can't exactly afford... Tanks are rather harder to pull off little prizes. Unlike winning a set of say tires on RCC or Scale4x4, which anyone can use or sell. Whats a Blizzard track set going to help a HL guy? or Tamiya? The same heads the other way as well... A Mato tank is easier to pull off then a Blizzard (roughly 1/2 the cost) But is there enough people actually willing to fork out some cash for tickets? You almost need to run 3 separate groups. Blizzards / HL / Tamiya. That would be the only way to make everyone happy. Now I am not suggesting this happen just I think its the only way to make it work. In the begining picture contests would be cool as it would help get things moving. Maybe we should get a ride of the month (or three) going. Even without a prize it would help get things going. I can even rebuild the banner to incorporate the picture like Scale4x4 does. Tho I won't say I am even close to Riks skills. A Hilight on the main page is easy as well. Maybe a small article about the vehicle / person / mods with a few pics would take off. We can very easily make up a few questions for the winner to answer that could be turned into a small article. Another idea that may work is to do what RCC does and have a monthly giveaway. Say Blizzard brake kits, maybe Spoon could whip up a couple Blizzard braces or something. Then start a thread and members can reply to win. It does get people to become members at least over there. If you chose not to become a member then theres no reason to complain about not being able to enter. Once the money was there then maybe we could start doing a HL raffle or whatever. I don't care if the site makes money but I would prefer not to have to have the site constantly hitting me in the pocketbook. |
