Are there any good sites that explain rc theory, ie frequencies, ESC's servos etc? Good and bad brands etc. As I have a lot of questions but thought to myself there must be some info out there somewhere?

hmmm well many Rc sites exist, but I dont think there's a wikipedia fro RC if thats what your after. 2 sites that helped me immesurabley have been mattV's site and Bloodclods site both priavtely owned/run but the FAQ's are awesome:

Matt V's site(sorry not all pages work)

http://www.mattsrcstuff.com

system bloodclod:

http://www.cool.per.sg/bloodclod/index1.html

both are monster truck oriented tho....

the best bet really is to ask any questions you have here or on other forums. I would recommend forums like here, www.scale4x4rc.us, and www.rcmt.net as helpful forums - there are many where you can shot down for asking a question which IMO defeats the point of having a discussion - some would regard me as a master of certain aspects of RC but I dont take kindly to being called a N00b if I ask a genuine questions no matter how silly....

RCzone is an odd forum - if you ask a generic question there you will get many answers in a short time, but expect a few of them to be childish comments rather than answers....(i.e. its the only lace where I've seen folk ask about a clodbuster they already own only to get told, "they suck buy a savage!")

Not really that I have ever seen. Theres tidbits in various places. But nothing I have seen in one place... Spoons links were very good info for me (I used matts site when I built my clod)

I also suggest that you ask your questions on a site that is oriented to helping rather then hindering. I could list off too many sites that would slam you for asking questions rather then simply answering it. I tend to try to avoid those sites as much as I can. I always get a chuckle (in a bad way) when I have been RCing for over 20 years and I get told "Use the search ___hole" by some snot nose punk that most likely 12 and has only build one RC... First I did use the search, and second my answer would have taken less words then their reply.

well if you see what I mean, most topics get covered on froums but very few people take that knowledge and document it for future reference.... its a good idea tho.

I must admit tho one of the most basic sources of info for RC of all kinds is the Tamiya RC guidebook, which covers all aspects of RC from basic radio gear and driving, to paint techniques and even tips on stuff like RC boats and planes and how to tune/maintain nitro engines... its an essential read IMO. plus if you like Tamiyas it lists every current model and better yet every current part and hop-up with a photo, and a reference chart of what parts fit what models.
