How is it done? I have one gr8 leo I received a while back, but I'm pretty sure the camo is non standard. how hard is it to strip the paint back. Or do most people get a model expert to do it? |

Well I have never done a tank before but when I stripped my Bruiser body I used brake fluid. It doesn't damage the plastic but eats the paint. I just filled a container so that the part would be submerged then just watched it until I could take the paint off with a toothbrush. The other option is EZOFF. It does the same thing only faster. Its also messier and stinks. |

Chris: Brake fluid is a nasty disposal hazard... but if you are doing brake work, no biggie. Me, I prefer any of the following (depending on which I have and was on sale): - Easy Off oven cleaner in the pump-spray bottle, - Mean Green bio-cleaner in the pump-spray bottle, - Castrol SuperClean degreaser in the pump-spray bottle, Also there is a new recommended new US product, Soy-Clean, a soy-based paint stripper I was trying to obtin for RC boat stripping. Spray the painted item with the pump-spray, and let sit a few houtrs, then rinse. Attack any crevices with an OLD toothbrush, and if necessary, soak the crevices again. This will NOT damage the plastic, but it WILL de-chrome any plated parts (but the Leo dinna have any, right!) I've used this successfully with both enamel and acrylic paints, and even with extended soaking gotten polycarbonate paints off a styrene truck body. You need any more help with the Leo restoration, let me know. WhiteWolf (with a pair of 1A4's in the repair shop) |
