More tanks are better always :) .... But it would be nice if HL would get the SCALE and SHAPE CORRECT for a change.... sheesh first the Tiger lower hull they call a Panther now a Walker that the lower hull is the same as the Pershing. (not to mention they continue to produce a tank with the mantlet upside down too funny)

That might very well be on purpose. They needed to change the design enough so that they weren't "stealing" the design from Tamiya. Maybe they made the decision to do that.

Where do you think Tamiya got the designs? If you send people to take measurements and photos of REAL tanks and them come up with a model its not stealing even if it is exactly the same as another company. Its only stealing if you buy the other companies kit and then reverse engineer the molds. Even if you did you could change enough of the details to have plausable deniablity without messing up the over all scale of the tank. They did what they did to save $$$ pure and complex :)

I have both the H/L Pershing and the Walker Bulldog both tanks look great. :nice:

The Pershing has 12 road wheels 6 each side while the Walker Bulldog has 10 road wheels that is 5 each side.

The Pershing has 2 excape hatches in the hull, while the Walker Bulldog only has 1.

The M26 has a flat hull , the M41 has a more curved hull :nice:

The M26 has a flat rear, while the M41's slops in. :nice:

I have found that the only thing they have common is that they are both GREEN. I dont think they are the same, do you?

The quality of the HengLong M41A3 is great the detail is fine the fit of parts is good, except for the turrent halfs, the track is good and will look even better when painted, The tank runs at a speed that I can live with, the exhaust smokes, it makes sounds, some better than others, but best of all you can go to battle with other tanks without a pole with lights on it sticking out of the top of your SCALE tank. And all of this for less than $200Aus. :drool2:

If you want to fire plastic bb's thats fine :) (or better yet the 6mm paintballs) I did not pick on your tank because its a HL.
in fact I own a HL 1/24 abrams I use as work to shoot managers who dare come near :)
I also own a 21st cent 1/6 Stuart that shoots .40 cal paintballs so please do not think I am someone who only buys Tamiya. I do have a full option WSN T34 and a FO Pershing and am building a Jumbo Sherman now. ...I picked on the HL walker because its TOO long look at the spacing of the road wheels and look at a real Walker (or scale drawing on onwar.com).... if you still think the HL is good - great but dont throw stones at people who want RC tank makers to get it RIGHT. Now go play with your toys .. ..... while I go play with mine :tease:

James

with it being based on the M26 pershing (like the 'pantiger' being based on their Tiger I) it was never gonna be perfect - at least they used just 5 roadwheels as I understand it it was gonna use 6 like the M26....

for most folk the fact that is has working tracks and vaguely resembles an M41 for very little money makes it a great buy. I'm sure a Tamiya version would be far better, but it would also cost upwards of $600 for the kit alone.

Exactly my thoughts.

I really don't care that the sounds wrong, or the dims are wrong, or whatever. When I look up pictures on the net and I look at the HL, I think "yup thats the tank". HL is marketing to me and others like me. They just want a tank. A cool tank, and its cheap to boot! To this group (the majority I think) you'll never convince them to spend 5-6 times as much for more realism. Thus the arguement continues till the end of time...

All I know is they are good enough for me...

I have zero interest in making them more accurate. But I do have enough interest in owning every last one of them. I just love the concept of tracked vehicles. Eventually I will pick up "spares" and start morphing them into various projects that interest me.
