hey guys, finally got my blizzard together last night. :woohoo: got it adjusted and everything but im having a problem. after a few minutes of running i think my esc is shutting down. if i go full throttle it will just suddenly stop. if i drive it about 1/4 throttle it will move for a while and sometimes stop. it doesnt do this off of the ground and it didnt do it while doing full throttle donuts in gravel. im running a futaba mc230cr with 12 ga wires to the motor that i had laying around.. could it be that the gauge is too big and its shutting down because of amp draw?? confused! any info or help would be great! thanks!

hmm...

only a couple of things spring to mind: #1. the motor is too much for the ESC and it is doing its thermal overload protection and shutting down before it melts...(possible if the motor is hotter than you expect) or #2 the batts are crapping out on you. they may need cycling, or may have simply false peaked(I have had this happen with both NiCD and NiMH packs, its not just a NiMH thing).

beyond that I'm not sure...

yeah, its wierd.. the esc doesnt get very hot nor does the motor. i think it may be my pack.. i noticed first run it didnt last very long and it has been sitting quite a while. im going to cycle it to see what it would do. so the 12 ga wire wont be a problem?

dont see why it would be, after all the motor can only draw so much from the batts no matter how big the pipe....(so to speak)

I've used thick wire on stock motors before, it just means the wires arent burning hot after a run....(the stock yellow and green tamiya ones must have about 3 strands in each  )

if the batt has been sitting a while I'd say its most likely your culrpit, it should refresh after its been cycled a few times. :nice:

yeaah yeaaah i know.. just wondering! actually, i was using some old futaba transmitter with two sticks- the brakes were verrry touchy.. then i went to the wheel transmitter with adjustable endpoints, it really helped! still havent figured out this esc tho.. did the same thing with a different batt. im going to try the batt i cycled again to see if it starts to shut down. if it does, im going to swap it out with a different esc.
