Any Heng Long Videos?

I've been looking a the Heng Long series of tanks the last few days, and thinking about getting one. I like the M26 Snow Leopard. So far I've gathered that the "smoke & sound" tanks have better electronics in them, besides the extra features. Are they proportional? While I know the quality isn't on par with Tamiya or the like, given my financial situation, it's a Hen Long or nothing. lol I thought I'd ask about them here, in hopes of sparing myself all the raving and whining about the knock-offs and "imitations" over at RCU.

So, any information about them, and any links to video footage of one in action, would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I understand completely, while I would normally be a Tamiya or nothing type of guy. The fact remains you can buy every HL tank including those that are coming, and keep them in parts for life for the cost of a properly decked out Tamiya. Just not going to happen right now.

Especially if your interested but not addicted. This is a cheap way to get into the tracked side of the hobby.

According to Matotoys website the snow leapard has a 10 step esc. (5 forward/5 reverse maybe?) Anyways its a lot better then just one speed.

And I can relate to RCU about the Heng Long despisers. Seems like a fare share of haters. I'd like to offer HL a place here to chat about their tanks in peace. They have every right to a place in RC tank history.

After a little digging around online, I found this guys site that shows a few more details on M26 in particular... http://www.killerkip.be/tpershing.htm

I also found a little movie clip that shows one idling and smoking, just to show the effect, but I don't remember where it was that I got it from. I might just upload the clip to my webspace if I can't find it again...

Still on the hunt for a M26 (or any Heng Long for that matter) running. :)

Thats a good link. I enjoyed reading it.

I can't recall seeing a video myself. I wouldn't remmeber if it was a HL tank even if I saved them.

I have almost bought a pershing a few times from Mato. I keep postponing it because a friend wants one too and we never seem to hook up long enough to do it. Wish the tigers were in stock. But oh well...

Guys:

Have patience and wait until Mato Toys brings them back in.

The reason they are out of stock is Murphy Ma went to the wall for us, literally... He went to China to complain about quality to Shantou-Mato! Thats why he's out of stock, he refused to bring any more in until things are improved!

When they come back in, we should have much fewer problems with the tanks. Plus, he'll be the first to get the new M41, so watch his site.

He also wants to know what we want next... so I'm trying to organise a poll that won't get too many repeat votes. I'll post a link to the poll-site when we've got it organised.

NOTICE: The New HL site is up and running:

Well, I ended up grabbing me a Pershing on eBay. Fed-Ex says it'll be here Tuesday, but so far they're not running a good track record with being on time with my stuff. It almost always ends up a day late, so we'll see. Either way, I'll certainly try to get a few good pictures and probably some video footage to post. There seems to be a lack of that stuff on the web as of now.

:nice:

Does it have sound / smoke? Those are the better ones, unless I am confused...

OC:

The Smoke & Sound or S&S units are better because they have mure subtle speed control. Its more of a 7-step + off control, where the old unit was off, too-slow & too-fast.

The smoke unit is a bit of a battery hog, but you can turn it off without having to go inside and disconnect it.

The BB unit isn't up to the 1/24 Marui standards, and is a poor joke when compared to the paintball AirSofts.

Most recommend NOT putting paintballs through it, as burst balls make one heck of a mess in your tank.

If you're going to gut it to put in proportional RC control, one of the early models is fine, but look at the price... for about $15 more, you get all the fancy stuff. If you don't want it, SELL it as spares for those who blow theirs up.

Personally, I'm going to wait until Murphy gets his improved-quality ones in, and then go for a M26 Pershing + M41 Bulldog deal.

Yeah, I went with a smoke and sound tank for the resons White Wolf stated, mostly for the better speed controller. I'll almost definately stick to the stock setup for a long time, unless I have an urge to go to proper hobby grade electronics. I've got a spare 16T Intellispeed ESC, and a match for it would be cheap. lol I'd like to be able to keep the rest of the functions though if I did convert it. This is all just speculation though, like I said it'll stay in it's stock form for a long time if not forever. :)

hmmm, not too much smoke is there... Least theres a video.

If it takes too much power off the main battery maybe a battery for it mounted inside the tank would be an idea. I like the idea of that home made smoke unit thread on RCU. maybe something could be modded here. So the motors drive a small fan and that pushes the smoke out when you give it gas. very realistic.

Myself I'll hold out till Mato has S&S units. Then I am all over them. :excited:
