Seeing as the Blizzards prefered enviroment is snow I think a list of waterproof esc's is warrented. (15 turn limit) Associated AI Quantum Runner Plus Reverse Or heres a cheaper version (18 turn limit) Associated AI Quantum Runner Reverse (Difficult to find it seems but worthwhile if you do) Mtroniks ESC's (Made for a boat but I'm sure it would be fine in a Bliizard) Proboat Waterproof ESC w/Reverse: 4.8-12V |

And for those of you who are DIY'ers, here's a nice little guide on waterproofing your current Rx and ESC. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/how_to_waterproof_a_rx.htm Theres also a guide on waterproofing a servo, but if you try that I suggest you leave out the last few steps. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/how_to_wa...oof_a_servo.htm |

I just ordered the one good for 18 turns. I have no intention of running more then a 19 turn in the blizzard anyways... |

2/10/06 update The AI quantum runner plus may fry if your bliz drivetrain becomes bound up, such as in sand. On mine, the auto shutdown did not kick in in time POOFJust a warning. It's not rock solid like a Super Rooster. You may have better luck in snow, I dunno... |

I wonder if this is why mine has an ESC far beyond the needs of the motor fitted? I mean the LRP f1 pro in mine hasnt even got warm yet....

I think it's an inherent design of a tank-type vehicle. There are so many moving parts that can cause friction. So many places for sand or fine dust to get inbetween. Bearings are even more necessary that a normal wheeled rc IMO. And I can see that keeping it clean and moving freely is important. Which should be no big deal running in snow
I'll post up what I find out on the esc from the mfr, if I even send it in. I have chopped off the factory plugs, so the warranty may be void anyways... But I'd be curious to know for sure what went wrong. |

I trust in LRP. Great tech support, especially on their forums. |

yup I got a few... what do you wanna know?
I have owned many, 1 blew up(an Mtronics Msonic2 Eco 20 in a stockish TL01 stadium raider), the rest have been fine, in fact each generation gets better the I have 3rd and 4th gen Eco 20's and a Viper RV11 currently... havent fully tested the waterproof thing tho... my Blizz runs an LRP F1 pro!

a caution on the eco-20 (mtroniks) mine blew up on flat ground.... it looked cool with smoke spraying out the back o the bliz, and all the hot melted plastic and solder spraying out the back of the ESC, but it cost me money (actually, i hjavent called the company on it yet, been too busy) |

Ouch! man that stinks. So what's you guys opinion on the Mtroniks reverse? I hear it's double pump, brakes first then reverse? Or is it just delayed? ...I was just looking at some of the new Viper units.

well the older ones were regular brakes, then reverse much like an LRP or Novak ESC, but the Viper RV11 I have has a very odd reverse, it stops waits a while and then begins reversing.... plus it wont reverse until you hold the stick down beyond a certain amount. that having been said it can be programmed to behave differently I just havent messed about with it yet.... IMO apart from the reverse delay the Viper series is the best yet, this RV11 even has an on/off switch(a major criticism of the Eco20's). I would suggest that Mtroniks treat the moto limit as absolutes rather than guidelines, so dont use a 10t motor with an RV11 or it will blow up.

the reverse on the mtroniks is uaually slower than forwards.... or was my ESC messed up in more than ways that one? |

...that's what I thought. I like instant reverse so I have a chance at avoiding rollovers
 Think I'll try the XRS. Not waterproof, but should do the trick. |

your right, but this Viper seems to wait a long time stationary before going into reverse(i.e. alot longer than my older Eco 20's).... thats the most annoying bit for me...
