Hello all, today i got a new Blizzard EV and with it i bought a waterproof LRP AI Runner Series ESC, and it has diodes, this is my first nice ESC do i need to install these diodes to run my Blizzard? Any help would be appreciated. No Moa |

Most aftermarket motors have the resisters already on the motors. The stock motor most likely doesn't have them. They are supposed to help stop interferance. If your fine with soldering then it wouldn't hurt to put them on. If its difficult to do for you then run it without them and see if you have any interferance. You'll know very quickly wether you'll need to run them or not. |

just a point of clarification - a diode only allows electricity to flow one way e.g. a schottky diode prevents back EMF damaging a forwards and brake ESC but cannot be used on a reversing ESC as it would prevent the motors polarity being reversed. what you have with an ESC are capacitors used to supress electrical noise that can cause interference. I've never known a stock(i.e. standard, not a racing 'stock' motor) motor need capacitors installed and like OC says most aftermarket ones have surface capacitors already installed. as it is many fixed endbell motors have a pair of caps installed on the inside which you cant always see.....
