I just purchased both a Kyosho Blizzard EV and Nitro my first question is what is top speed or a estimate of top speed on both the EV and nitro?

Second question who makes a good 7.2v battery for the EV?

Third was wondering whats a good pistol grip 2 channel remote kit with everything I need thats a decent price to run them both?

Last question "im new to all this the only r/c I ever owned was a tyco turbo hopper 20 years ago as a small child this is a new winter hobby with the blizzards" will the controlers suffer from any inteference if say me and a friend are both using the nitro and ev at same time on the 2 same branded controlers?

Answers (best as I can help you)

1) Can't help you here. You could tell us more on that as you have bought both.

2) A decent battery really make a difference. These days there are 3700's so any 3000-3300 batt will be a cheap good choice. I myself only buy batteries containing GP cels. They are a Green / orange cel. Sanyos are fine as well. These are the cel brands, not the pack brands. Consider it like this, if its a clear packaged battery pack, they want you to see the cels inside because they are proud to have them. If they don't show you the cels, theres a reason! No name batts will work but you usually find a cel goes bad before too long. They are weak. And most people switch to better packs before long.

3) Radios. This is like asking for a debate on Ford versus Chevy! But heres a bit of biased advice. I only run Airtronics (well 90% but then I have somthing like 25 radios). They are very reliable decent radios even if they are a bit more expensive. Lots of guys around here run Hitec Agressor radios. They are cheaper and work quite well. Any radio you buy can run multiple rcs by buying more recievers and crystals. You can also step up to a synthesized radio and you have model memory and you can switch rc frequencies whenever you want.

Figure it this way (Trying to really simplify this) FM is better then AM (especially when it comes to nitro vehicles), Synthesized is better then crystaled, computer is better then not (gives you multiple model memory for one, and many other useful options) Course it gets more expensive the more you want to do. So what I run may not be what you would be willing to do. And what I would like to do is not what I choose at this time.

4) This one a bit confusing since it sounds like in question three you want a radio to run both RC's. If you buy 2 radios that are the same, just make sure that they run different frequencies and you'll be able to run both at the same time.

Confuse you yet? Feel free to ask anything you don't understand and myself and others will do our best to help you out.

WOW I didn't realize they have gotten to 3900 already! It says they use GP cels so your in good hands battery wise.

Battery link from Horizon

As you can see they used a clear case to show off the cels and they annouce that they are using GP cels. You won't see that in a cheap battery. You could also choose to go with a smaller battery (say 3000's) and get more of them. Then you can be charging one as your running one.

2 channel FM radio's... Your right it seems all FM's are 3 channel. I just checked. This is because most vehicles nowadays have a 2 speed (emaxx) or reverse in a nitros case (Savage, Tmaxx, etc.) So it looks like if you just want a 2 channel then you have to stay AM. If the price difference isn't that much you could always get the 3 channel FM. Even if you don't use it right now you might need it down the road. Or you can always make a plow and get that Blizzard working. 2 channel AM is really cheap tho so you'll have to make the decision. (bout 40 bucks a radio at towerhobbies)

Waterproofing

To waterproof your Blizzard you need to get the reciever and the esc out of the moisture. (Or just the receiver in the nitros case) Servo's can take a lot of abuse before they have had too much so its not a big deal to let them get a bit wet. The reciever can be easily waterproofed by putting it in a balloon and zip tying the neck. The esc is a problem. You can't balloon it because it needs to get rid of excess heat. Your only choice here is to either pick up a waterproof esc. Or find a radio box or container that your can put electronics in and seal. I tend to run esc's in radio boxes in the winter and remove the covers in summer to allow them to breathe in the hotter weather...

I plan on picking up a waterproof esc asap for my blizzard. As this will be a RC that I intend to get wet it only makes sence to do so. Until I pick it up I will run a standard esc in a small box to protect it from the elements.

Associated AI Quantum Runner Plus Reverse

Or heres a cheaper version (18 turn limit)

Associated AI Quantum Runner Reverse

The only other thing of note is if you run bearings you need to keep them oiled so they don't rust. The snow will be very hard on them. My personal thought is I am going to run bearings inside the chassis but leave the bushings on the wheels. That way I can free up as much resistance as possible and the bushings will handle the water enviroment much better then a bearing will. Just my thoughts on it tho, I could be out to lunch. Just going to do what I thinks best...
