Hi,

I am gonna get an Blizzard now but dont know if I should buy the Ev or the Nitro version hm?
Well I now have an TeamLosi Super Truck so Nitro isnt any problem for me.
I am thinking most off an Nitro Blizzard, but is the nitro version both stronger and faster than the electric version? Because I think the ev is a bit slow in all vids I have seen anyway. So my question is, are the nitro more torque?

Typically no, Nitro motors produce less torque than electric ones - it is for this reason that the EV has one speed whereas the Nitro Blizzard GP is fitted with a 2 speed gearbox to make better use of its power.

the GP is probably faster overall, but I doubt it has more torque.

as for stronger/better the main chassis, wheels tracks, diff, brakes etc are shared on both kits so its one of the few RC's where the only difference is the nitro or electric powerplant(well that and the two speed in the nitro).

well personally I'm gonna get a Blizzard EV as soon as they come back in stock.. but then I am an Electric Monster truck/off road guy anyway so it makes no sense for me to go Nitro with a Blizzard(I have batts, and electrics but no fuel, glow starters etc which I would have to buy for a nitro vehicle).

I think it comes down to which you prefer to run. I like electric for ease of use and the fact that its quiet so I can run it in my garden without complaint of noise from neighbours. nitro will probably be faster, and I daresay with a little beefing up and a bigger/better engine the GP would be very fast.

I know a few folk here are planning to drop a good brushless system into blizzard Ev's to see how fast it can go that may address the balance when it comes to speed. I dont plan to do this as I dont have any BL systems so it would be the same cost as buying another blizzard to make my first one brushless.

from looking on Ebay the EV seems rarer, but they may simply be selling what they can get hold of right now.

I guess it comes down to your own preferance. it may also depend on what you want to do with it, i.e. you may want to run it stock, or else make it a project to modify it in some way. box stock the GP is obviously faster, but with good motors and maybe an adpated 2 speed(like an E-maxx transmission) the EV might be better all round... although this would be a more involved project and cost more overall.

Well according to Ultimate Hobbies the Nitro is 70US more then the electric version. Thats a decent chunk of cash. But then the nitro version is quite a bit more complicated.

I love my nitro trucks but it's getting harder and harder to find places to run them in peace. They tend to only be used on days that I plan an entire afternoon to go to a gravel pit or park. With an electric I can run them anywhere, anytime. Nitro tends to cost way more in the long run then electric does in parts breakage, and wear... And you have no choice but to go fast. Nitro motors have no torque and even if it did the clutches don't engage at low rpm anyways.

The end decision is how you see yourself using it. If you understand nitro and how to run and maintain it. If you have places to go that you can run nitro without complaint. If you love speed, then its prolly a good choice for you. If you want to run at anytime and in any space. Have torque and the abiltiy to go slow. Then elecs prolly the way you should lean.

Me I would want both. But since I can't I chose the electric version cause I know I will use it more then I would if it was nitro.

I've gotta say that the Nitro is the way to go. I have both the electric and the nitro and the electric one never gets run. It seems like the electric would be the way to go since you're going slow and want lots of torque, but the Nitro just performs better. I don't know if it has more torque or not, but it's never struggled going over any obsticles that I've thrown at it where the electric one has. The nitro is balanced a ton better as well. The electric mounts the battery in the front, so it wants to flip forward when going over steep inclines. Whereas, the nitro also mounts the engine in the front with the gastank but it doesn't weigh as much as that battery pack. I hope this helps. Goodluck.
