Blizzard EV DF-300 vs EV
Posted by phatchantz (Member) at Dec 20 2008, 02:00 PM. 7 comments
Hey,
Does anyone know the differences between the old EV and the "Blizzard EV DF-300" if any besides the body...........
is the difference strictly cosmetic ??
I ask, because I feel the need for another one ( I have an EV ) and those new ones look "real nice" - - - - but with the exchange rate so crappy right now, it's really gonna cost...
thanks for any feedback
( and if you're in Canada - we're about to get 15 - 30 cm ( 6 - 12 inches ) of the WHITE STUFF tonight

Just Drift It !

I took the Blizz for a ride today... I run a cheapo ezrun 4300kV motor, stock gearing, and 2S lipos... and I found a new way to play with that toy
1- Make sure your diff is packed with thick grease (mine has 100'000)
2- Find a steering setup that "works" for you, ie not the "all or nothing" stock setup, but one where you can actually control the turning radius
3- Find a large, flat patch of hard packed snow... a snowy/frozen parking lot is perfect
and...
4- Drift it like you'd drift a 4wd Touring car!
It's awesome to see that big snowcat doing nice 15ft radius turns forever as you control the radius with throttle... completely surrealistic! and quite challenging on your controlling skills too, hence very rewarding when you get it right.
Give it a shot - you'll love it!

(sorry, no vids... was all by myself - but it works!)

My Upgraded Blizzard.

Hi Everyone.
With several metres of snow now here in Switzerland I decided to upgrade my Blizzard.
I have just fitted an Xcelorin 10 7500Kv brushless motor and sc running on 11.1v 3s LiPo 3700Mah batteries.
It really flies
I have also changed the radio to 2.4ghz but I have more work to do on this as the siting and type of receiver seems to be critical to range.
I understand that there have been problems with 2.4 in boats due to the reflective nature of the water and maybe this also includes snow.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

Snow is here - blizz gets out!

Hi guys
the snow is here - time for our favorite seasonal rc forum to get a boost!
I took the Blizz for its first run in the snow yesterday. It ran great, as expected... but just for 2mns. Then it started slowing down, and then it stalled, with the transmission seemingly locked... I only had the time to pull the pinion out once the snow had melted off of it yesterday nite, and even then the transmission seemed extremely stiff...
If I ran custom brake pads I would assume that the would swell and create the aforementioned effect... but it's still the stock setup in there... No idea what happened.
Bad start for a season :/

Kyosho Blizzard Df-300 Ep Traction Issue !
Posted by AlphaDOG (Member) at Oct 7 2008, 12:08 AM. 3 comments
Hi, it is possible for a tracked vehicle like the blizzard to drive 100% straight line or ... ? mine it track from one side.. I looked at it in the air and both track/belt spin as same time since I used team associated 100k diff fluid into the differential and used some kyosho hobby grease on all the others gears in the gearbox... I centered the servo saver and checked for brake binding and all look spining freely...
maybe thats normal ?
PS : I run it in dirt/grass/tarmac

Hey Gang,
Been a long nice summer and just waiting for the first big BLIZZARD
In anticipation i an wanting to construct a working snow shovel for my EP DF-300. I know there have been post with pictures and they are great resources. But if any of you out there that have made a working unit could post a parts list and or schematics that would be awesome. And has anyone made a electric operated snow blower attachment? Using an electric motor ?
Thanks
