Making Trax!

I ran it in medium-dry powder at 23F and noticed a few interesting traits. If you go full-throttle, it really rises up and goes jumping and hopping anything it hits with amazing stability. When turning, it needed to be at full-tilt (gradual turn) or just a creep (sharp turn) to not get stuck or flip. In a straight line it was incredible, it would just get airborne off jumps with huge rooster-tails. One thin area under a tree ripped the track right off the rear wheel when I tried to turn. I did run it in my front street on icy hard-pack, complete loss of control, but would spin like a figure-skater in place. So far, the absolute best conditions seem to be a hardened dry-frozen and granular snow-ice that occurs after thaw/freeze cycle. This is the consistency of rice/grits rather than flour or sugar. |
