I'm far from a Heavy Metal historian so this could be the real thing, or maybe not. On ebay a guy is selling what he calls the original prototype that gave kyosho the idea to produce the Heavy Metal. "This is a once in a lifetime offering. This Heavy Metal Monster tank is the original "idea" vehicle for the model. It was built by Dave Sproul, the founder of the NR/CTPA(name on door), and has a few unique features. The treads have been cut-down by hand to the narrow size. The drive for the treads is done by a series of pulleys/belts which are connected to an Ultima transmission, and the seperate braking of the treads is done by an arm connected to two metal strips which bind onto two metal wheels giving friction to slow a track. This was conceived in the early 1990's and has been in our posession since 2000. There is an understandable reserve of $350.00 set for this VERY unique piece of R/C history."
