Making Trax!

Outcast: Nope, no-one that I know of made a reduction for this, and with a stock 540 and 6-cell pack, its a bloody speed demon. WAY too fast for scale. I think it could be reduced by adding a second set of the black middle gears that aren't setscrewed down, just held with collars in place, but that would reduce speed by another 2:1 or as much as 3:1 (I'd have to count the gear-teeth to say) Like the crawlers, most of us old-style tankers that don't upgrade to DMD gearboxes are using the Integy SCM 5501 55t lathe motor to power our units. It brings the speed down to near-scale, though I expect it'll be a tad slow for a real Leopard 1A4. I may try to fix that with a 7-cell pack, but until I see how it runs on 6, I'm not investing in new bigger packs. I may even go with a set of Willy's Black-Torque units for my Blizzard... some speed is ok, but I want some power too. Besides, I'm at the stage where I'm considering NiMH packs and a new charger... so I'm not gonna invest until I've got a decent charger. WhiteWolf |
