It is a good question. Owning both nitro (4 at one point) and electric. (too many to figure) Theres a couple plus's and cons to each type. These are some pretty major generalizations. Nitro: Plus: plenty of power of of the box. can keep refueling so your running doesn't stop Loud! Some people love that sound Con: Messy, no matter what you do a nitro is always a mess to be cleaned up. Loud! Can be a big problem depending on where you live. Also some can't stand the drone. Hard to tune. getting the motor up to temp and keeping it there goes a long way. Hard to start in the winter I keep the motor on the hot air in the car when I head out then it will be warmer, so easier to start Electric Plus: easier to run, just connect and go Bl motors can compete with nitro Clean Quite Con: batts don't like the cold. I keep them in a insulated lunch bag and throw in a pocket warmer for good measure. A cold batt in winter could lose 50% right off the bat! The esc needs to either be a waterproof model or protected from moisture. Most can't handle water at all. |
