Welcome to Legend of the Emblem. We hope you burn in hell.

You're currently viewing our unnecessarily awesome forum as a worthless lemmingguest. This means you are immensely retarded. Should you join our wondrous community, you'll be able to cry yourself to sleep faster than ever before, and use many member-only features such as making fun of kneehigh, possibly abusing your newfound modly powers, and voting on how you would like to die first. Registration is ridiculously simple, fast, and only costs you your soul, but this is 2010, we don't need no souls. Lucky you!

Premise: The town of Brost stands as the sole beacon of civilization in a land otherwise desertified. Composed of adobe houses packed tightly together, Brost is home to the heroes--legendary, elite mercenaries who are hand-selected by training so intense that only the best survive and even fewer prosper. The heroes are the best warriors in the world and are contracted from this settlement by messengers from nations, governments, rebel groups, private contractors such as companies and rich businessmen, and more.

Heroes are trained in all forms of combat--from swordfighting to using technology in combat--but they are not allowed to take any weapons from the settlement when they leave on a mission. They must go with only their fists and procure weapons from their mission location. Still, most heroes have one or two specialties--there are heroes who excel at aim and precision and prefer archery, heroes who are especially adept at operating technology, heroes who have immense brute power, etc.

Magic exists, but in this world magic is not the traditional fire, lightning, wind, water combination. These elements and others can be utilized via weapons--thermal guns and laser pistols in appropriate states, for example.

Magic, on the other hand, is a manifestation of physical strength that is much more mentally and physically taxing than only swinging a sword--but also more damaging and effective, due in part to greater, broader range. It is similar to the concept of ki. Every hero can use magic in some limited way, but heroes with magic specialties are particularly strong on offense and weak on defense.

Where heroes go depends in part on their specialties--heroes who are strong with martial weapons, including their fists, often take missions that require them to go to underdeveloped countries, where wars are conducted with swords, maces, axes, and the like. Heroes strong with technology go more often to more advanced countries. But there are no hard and fast rules.

All Brostian contracts are handled by Roc, an ancient figure who has led the heroes as long as anyone living can remember; no one has seen Roc in thirty years, for his mouthpiece, the hero Rojin, speaks on the leader's behalf. Messengers live among the heroes as well, delivering requests--in the form of cards--to each hero's home every morning. There are no mailboxes in the adobe homes--only slots, holes in the walls that house cards.

Special requests are hand-delivered to the heroes during daylight hours. Normal requests are given to all heroes, but special requests go to specific heroes, usually dependent on hero specialties, and are associated with better rewards.

Heroes are so good at what they do that wars are often decided by which and how many heroes are working for either side. Combat is often about hero vs. hero rather than nation vs. nation or troupe vs. troupe. Friends often face friends when different heroes choose request cards for opposing sides in military conflict, but such is the hero way.

At the heart of town there is a statue of Erik, the first hero, who founded the settlement over four hundred years ago. The heroes strive to live up to the ideals he established.

General information: So I've started up this RP since at least a few people seemed to want to RP, and this site is not too active right now. WJC and I will be co-leading this RP. Please post here to sign up before posting in the RP topic, which will be posted later tonight. Thanks for taking the time to read, and hope to see everyone aboard!

Was this world relying on magic for healing, or modern methods? Some combination of the two?

There's no magic in this RP, like I said in the opening post. So technology.
