Long ago, the city of Davenstown was a metropolis of civilization, the center of the industrialization of the world. A trainyard for the world - all tracks ran there. It was a large production center, and even though much of the poor population was subjected to cruel treatment at their jobs, there was always a way to profit in the city. Not anymore. The great gothic towers of the cathedrals had fallen first, and the ruins sat decrepit in the roads, not that any carts could run anyways - merchants had stopped running early in the battle, terrified that the enemy would assault their transports. Soon, buildings burnt as well, as the heavenly host could not defend the simple tenements the humans had built. Now, the entire city burned indefinitely, it's guards having abandoned it long ago - but not it's residents, nor it's assailants. The humans were doomed, it was true - but that didn't stop them, nor any of it's creations, from trying to fight for their home. The demons walked the streets, fiery manes burning a sickly green, carrying their hellish blades and conferring in dark grunts and tones in a language no mortal couldn't hope to understand. What few angels remained were outmatched and outnumbered, and had no sense of command or higher authority. The gods had all been slain, and the heavenly host created to serve them were lost, without purpose or means to defend themselves. The city of Davestown was no more. The residents each referred to it by a new, dark name, the only one that could properly show just how desolate the city had become. The dark city of Cain's Impact burned with an unholy fire, by which the residents and rulers saw all. ~-~ Kaellen grinned as his glowing blade pierced a hellhound's flesh, white flames bursting from the demon's wounds. As the beast died, he withdrew the sword, marveling at it for a moment. The Angel of Vengeance smirked as he looked around, then sighed when he realized there were no more demons near him to slay. The shortsword vanished in a flash of divine light, and a glow surrounded his winged form. He brushed his fingernails against his white robe, smiling cockily, then turned to an angel next him. "What do you think? A few more millenia of this, we could totally get revenge against these hellsons." He cracked his neck as he heard a guttural roar not far from where the pair was. "What do you say? I'll let you get some action this time," he half-promised. |

Albert "Thanks, but I'm really not much of a fighter." Albert focused on the wounds of the young man the hell hound had been attacking. "We can't all be Angels of Vengeance, Kallen." Albert said patiently. "Some of us were never meant to even be in this whole mess. Albert was an angel of mercy, his main job, back in the day, anyways,, was to keep an eye over the just and the righteous. Nowadays he could barely keep an eye on Kallen, who was a bit more righteous than just. Out here, away from...home, things were different. Evil roamed around, people were slain all up and down the streets. It wasn't quite as nice as paradise. At least not this time of year. "As for this, at our current rate of 10-13 grunts a day, we will have slain all the demons in roughly... half past never." Albert chuckled half heartedly at his poor attempt at humour. Someone had to. "Those Hell hounds, the footsoldiers roaming these streets... As far as demons go, they're incredibly weak. As far as we go, they're not as far below par as some of our more prideful companions would have you believe. What's left of us are dying out, and there isn't much we can do about it. It's what happens to all hives when the ruler is eliminated. We struggle on, then we die." Albert wasn't usually so down, but the time here had already had him be witness to things which he would have considered himself better off never having seen. Such horrors. And the pleasure taken in them... The human man was stirring now, his wounds had all but healed. "Should we leave him before he wakes up, or take him somewhere safer?" |

Andy's vision came back into focus. What? Then he realized what happened. One of those foul dogs that had been appearing since the Event had caught him off guard and went straight for his power supply. Lucky bastard. There's no way the bloodhound would have been as successful if he hadn't been improving on his code. Then again, his wounds were all gone. Huh. Record time for his subroutines. Looks like something good had come out of that late night improving hi- Hm? Andy took in the two figures standing before him. They must have been the people who had saved him; it was pretty obvious from the burning carcass nearby. Surprising, it wasn't often you saw a human who gave any bit of a damn about someone besides themselves. Not since Hell on Earth had began. A couple of rare souls. And yet, the glowing sword, the white robes, this aura around them. Were these higher class demons to take have fun in a bit of slaughtering, or some of the few angels left? Either way, they weren't human. Andy grinned. But then again, neither was he. "Um, hello there. Who are you?" |

A second hellhound burst from the nearby forest. It growled at the angels, and prepared to pounce. "Bad dog! Heel!" A small child in a blackish-purple Elizabethan suit chased after the hellhound. As he approached, the dog sat and waited at attention. The child turned and noticed the angels, jumping behind his large abyssal dog. "Please don't hurt me! I wasn't doing anything bad, I was just trying to train my new dogs!" The child was almost on the verge of tears as he looked on the angels with fear in his yellow eyes. |

Albert Between the newly conscious individual and the completely out of nowhere creepy kid with the demon dog, Albert was feeling a little crowded. Not sure what Kalen would do, considering they'd been at this a while, and he'd basicly cut down anything slightly different from the start. It was th reason Albert hadn't mentioned he had been healing something not altogether human. Definitely organic, at least the wounds, were, but no soul to speak of. Nothing demonic, though, unless they found some way to hide the very obvious indicators that presented themselves. Looking at the kid, they really hadn't. For the time being, Albert just focused on finishing up his healing. Hopefully when Kallen did his dirty work, there wouldn't be any screams. Those really stuck with him, even when made by pure evil. Really, all he could do was focus his attention elsewhere. |

A flash of light surrounded the angel, the irises of his brown eyes turning white and glowing with a holy rage. His sword appeared in his right hand, and withint a moment's breath, it was against the demon's neck. "A child," he spat out in rage. "Probably a noble's brat. Talk, you hellborne bastard, and I'll make your suffering as short as my patience." There were two things that Kaellan hated - demons, and their offspring. Demonic children usually were innocent as angels at birth, but were conditioned to behave as their parents did - it pissed the Angel of Vengeance off that such a crime would happen. |

Andy Well now, things were getting interesting. One of the men was attending to- no, healing his wounds. This was definitely an angel. However, what was more surprising the look in his eyes as he did his work. Andy was no stranger to it - it was the same one he always saw when someone found out. But the speed at which the angel had guessed this was something else. His companion was different. Andy could tell he was good as well, but he was focused. Focused on destroying whatever necessary. And right now he was focused on the child who had just popped out of the woods. "WOAH! Hey, calm down! He's just a kid!" |

Kaellan didn't take his concentration off of the demon runt. "A kid? Maybe if this was before what happened... This damn thing is a demon, and when he's old enough to hunt us down, nothing will stop him from it. It'd be better to get rid of him now... To avenge my fallen comrades." He made no move to slay the child yet, though - he was waiting to see what the thing said in it's defence. For all he knew, it could have information that could help him take out more demons. "Besides, can't you make a connection? He's training his dogs, you get attacked by a hellhound. I think it's pretty obvious what happened." |

Albert Wow, whatever he healed seemed to have one thing going with it, it could almost reason with Kallen. He was unsure if that was a good thing or not. Albert thought he himself was the only person really capable of swinging Kallen's judgement at all, and even he'd have trouble stopping him here. Or would he? This was a kid, perhaps kallen had a soft spot for tykes, Albert had never seen him deal with one before. In any case, Albert wasn't sure he wanted kallen to stay his hand here. This kid would no doubt be growing up to use that very hound to slaughter innocents if they let him go. It wasn't just upbringing that made demon spawn turn evil. There were some attempts before to raise demon children among angels. They were...unsuccessful. Albert had babysat a time or two, and he really had to admit, the few of those children he saw since were...probably worse than your average demon. Perhaps compensating for their years with the angels. Albert realized this much expostion was more of a Remus thing, and this 4th wall stuff was more Shu's alley, but he was kind of bored, besides. Nothing at all was hapening, apart from some demon kid kinda randomly showing up, hijacking the story, then not being around. |

Albert The world seemed to flicker dimly for an instant. The sky turned quickly the darkest hue of black available, the people faded away, Albert himself seemed to cease to exist. Like a threat of all life in this universe ending prematurely. No, wait, he was blinking. He forgot he could do that, angels didn't have to. |
