Updated with notes at the end. <_< And I'll be nice from now on... >_> |

Some days I wonder if it was worth it. Then, I realize, looking at the sky, that nothing is worth it. After all, what is worth? Worth is nothing. A mere word, invented by humans to signify that we think that we are important, too. We aren't. Then, as I think, I hear a voice calling to me. It calls my name. I walk towards the voice, heedless of my actions. After all, it doesn't matter. It isn't worth the safety. Nothing is worth anything. Walking, I see a man by a fire. He beckons for me to sit. I sit. And he asks me, "Why did you come?" I answer, "Staying there wasn't worth it, as nothing is worth anything." He replies, "If staying there wasn't worth it, and you came here, does not that mean that it was worth it to come here? Begone, you, and think more on the true meaning of life." I wake up the next morning, still in the field, on the ground. I stand. For it is worth it to stand. | |

"Today I'll be telling the story of Althar, the last High Lord of Elfheim." A small fire burned happily in a fire place in a small nook of the Library of Ur. Small children were gathered around an elf sitting in a chair with a book. In the distance, the sounds of battle could be heard from outside the walls. The children listened intently to the storytelling elf. "Seven centuries and four decades ago, the great country of Elfheim was living prosperously. The elves lived on their island nation in cities with glittering spires shining out across the sea for all to bask in. It was a day of great celebration, for it marked the 137th Lunar Festival. These festivals marked the ascension of a new High Lord to the court of Elfheim and it was a happy time indeed. Vendors sold trinkets in the streets, minstrels sang songs of great heroes, and all was well in the world...." The elf turned the page in the book. All the children were completely enthralled by his story, as they were every time he read to them. The elf was proud to tell the stories of his forebears, and he looked at these children as his younger brothers and sisters... "Mr. Luneth... what happened to Elfheim?" "Hmmm?" "If Elfheim was such a great city... where is it now?" Luneth placed a bookmark in the thick tome and closed it. He then looked to the inquisitive child and sighed. "That story is only for adults, it's notably more dark and depressing." The children complained to this, audibly rejecting the idea that they were too young to hear the truth. Luneth signed, they would have to hear it someday... He stood up and grabbed another book from the shelf. This book was bound in dark blue leather with silver caps the corners. In elegant silver letters, four words were etched onto the cover. "This, children, is the story of The Shattering..." --- (( I will be posting the story as we go along, but here's a time-skip so I don't have to write it all out right now.)) --- Luneth turned the final page of the book and continued reading. "The black-armored knight turned to face the four light warriors and defeated their attack. Before they could react, the knight had destroyed the black mage, the white mage and the thief. The fighter stood in awe as the black knight sheated his sword and walked away and into the temple of the Earth Crystal. After mourning the loss of his friends, he pursued the Black Knight into the temple. To this day, no-one knows what happened in the temple, but because of the brave fighter, the city of Ur now stands as the last fragment of light in this world, for we have part of the Geo Essence. In the coming days, the world became as it is now. Monsters over-ran city streets, killing all that stood in their way. Only eleven cities survived the onslaught, but alas, Elfheim was not one of them. All that remains of the great City of the Elves are the Fourteen Sentinels. Their goal is to build a new shining city for the elves to return to and push back the darkness." Luneth closed the book and waited. The children sat in awe at the scope of the story. They had just been told the story of the Fall of Light. "...They died?" A child began to cry, and before long many others began to as well. Others sat placidly, shocked at the sheer darkness of the world. Luneth knew he would be hearing from the orphanage... |

There's nothing in there about that... your reason for warning me in my thing on the side is "ur so meen ;_;". That hardly seems warn-worthy. Although, I am only at 50%... |

Start from where Luneth made the children cry. The chapters of the book will be filler to prevent this from being thrown into the inactive RP section. Once fish gets back he'll definitely participate, and then activity will result. |
